When controversies arise, colleges and universities often find themselves in the crossfire of heated debates over institutional neutrality. Some institutions claim neutrality to distance themselves from controversy and defuse tensions surrounding sensitive issues. However, when institutions choose not to engage—whether through nonresponse or by stating they will make no response—they may inadvertently suggest that their current position is neutral, a premise many dispute (A. Ford, 2024). How should higher education institutions (HEIs) navigate the various demands they face to either act or maintain neutrality? Clinical And Demographic Predictors Of The Need For Pharmacotherapy In Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, Shawana Bibi, Rachana Singh, Janis L. Breeze, Jason Nelson, Walter K. Kraft, Jonathan M. Davis

OBJECTIVE: Development and validation of a clinical prediction model for receipt of pharmacotherapy for Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS).

STUDY DESIGN: Data from three cohorts included

RESULTS: Of 698 infants included, 430 received pharmacotherapy. The final model included seven predictors of receipt of pharmacotherapy: gestational age, exposure to maternal breast milk, type of maternal opioid medication, and exposure to heroin, cocaine, benzodiazepines, and/or antipsychotic medications. The model had an AUROC of 0.68 (95% CI: 0.64-0.72; optimism corrected 0.65).

CONCLUSION: Our prediction model was parsimonious and identified seven predictors associated with the need for PT. Larger cohort studies are needed to more …

Studies have found a link between subtypes of social withdrawal and internalizing problems throughout most of the lifespan. However, the work conducted in adolescence is much more limited including a lack of work examining factors that might mediate the association between forms of social withdrawal and internalizing problems. Social comparison may be one way in which social withdrawal predicts internalizing problems. There has been research showing that social media usage is associated with internalizing problems. This study investigated whether the timing of a 24-hour fast influences indicators of glycemic control throughout the duration of the fast or upon refeeding. Twenty-four adults who have overweight or obesity (13 female, 11 male) completed this randomized crossover study involving three 24-hour fasts initiated at either 8:00 am, 1:00 pm, or 6:00 pm followed by a 75 g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) which lasted 2 hours. Continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) were employed to track interstitial glucose throughout each fast and OGTT. This paper analyzes how traumatic events that have been repeated in modern Korean history have affected each generation's identity and emotional structure, and how intergenerational conflicts arise, are structured, and reproduced. This study divides the groups of people born in the period from "The Liberation" in 1945 to 2025 into four generations: the Industrialization Generation, the Democratization Generation, the Capitalist Generation, and the Isolation Generation. Business Faculty Articles and Research

Roosevelt’s Bank Holiday in March 1933 aimed to halt bank runs and implement licensing for banks. Using a new hand-collected daily database, we examine how bank stocks and bond markets responded to this sweeping regulation. We find that New York City banks saw significant negative abnormal returns, while Chicago banks experienced positive returns, highlighting regional differences in perceptions of the policy. Corporate bond yields fell by 1.4 percentage points, lowering interest rates. Our findings show how markets reacted differently across regions and asset classes to this critical intervention.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) deals with several symptoms, including language and speech impairment and developmental delays. The main brain regions affected could be the prefrontal cortex (PFC) or the temporal lobe. The detrimental features could include oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and neuroinflammation. Most often, these phenomena are interrelated and can lead to one another, creating a vicious cycle. They also influence the regulation of certain genes involved in the pathogenesis of ASD or related behavior. Air pollution, particularly exposure to fine particulate matter (PM2.5), poses a growing threat to cardiopulmonary health. PM2.5 consists of microscopic particles smaller than 2.5 microns in diameter and originates from industrial combustion, transportation, and urban dust. These particles are classified as xenobiotics and are capable of bypassing respiratory defenses to enter systemic circulation, where they cause oxidative stress, inflammation, and cardiovascular dysfunction. This study examines the effects of PM2.5 on cardiovascular function using a murine model. While most of the EU Member States have missed it (ETUC, 2024), a group of countries has instead opted for what the European Trade Union Institute senior researcher Torsten Müller defines as a “minimalistic” transposition (Staunton, 2024). APPROXIMATELY A DECADE AGO, China began considering postponing the retirement age, and this concept has now been officially implemented. On 13 September 2024, the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress passed the “Decision on the Implementation of Gradual Delay of the Retirement Age, 关于实施渐进式延迟法定退休年龄的决定,” (the “Decision on Retirement Age”). Concurrently, the State Council issued the “Measures to Gradually Delay of Statutory Retirement Age,” 关于渐进式延迟法定退休年龄 的办法, (the “Measures on Retirement Age”) providing detailed provisions. Materials with cylindrical pores are optimal for electrochemical devices and filtration due to their straight paths with minimal tortuosity when aligned. Polymer templates have led to many individual cylindrical architectures however the independent tailoring of pore and wall dimensions has remained elusive. Here short cylindrical micelle templates (PEO-b-PS) with glassy cores enabled the fabrication of sample series with constant cylindrical pore diameter (∼63 nm) and tailored wall thickness (TiO₂, ∼45–100 nm). Introduction Despite the profound impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on people living with HIV (PLWH) mental health, large-scale, real-world data on mental healthcare utilisation and associated factors among PLWH remain limited. This study explores mental healthcare utilisation and associated factors among PLWH during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods Using a retrospective cohort design, we identified and included 4575 PLWH through computational phenotyping based on relevant Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership Common Data Model concept sets from the All of Us programme between March 2018 and March 2022. Managing type 1 diabetes (T1D) is emotionally demanding, especially for adolescents navigating intersecting developmental, biological, and psychosocial transitions. Routine psychosocial screening may help address youths’ needs. One hundred eighty adolescents with T1D ages 12-18 (M=14.71, SD=1.69 years) were recruited from a pediatric diabetes clinic. Confirmatory Factor Analyses confirmed a six-factor structure, and Latent Variable Mixture Modeling identified three profiles of psychosocial supports and challenges: (1) Average Supports, Low Challenges (n = 105, 58%), (2) Low Supports, High Challenges (n = 37, 20%), and (3) Average Supports, High Family Conflict (n = 38, 22%). This exploratory study investigates the intersections of statistical health literacy, emotions, and health decision-making from an interdisciplinary perspective. Earthquakes generate stress perturbations capable of influencing adjacent faults and magmatic systems across a range of spatial and temporal scales. This work investigates how dynamic and static earthquake-induced stress changes affect geological structures in two different tectonic settings: major continental fault systems and subduction zones. The first part of this study examines dynamic rupture interactions between the southern San Andreas Fault and an adjacent normal fault beneath the Salton Sea. Intimate partner violence (IPV) is defined as physical violence, sexual violence, stalking, or psychological aggression by a current or former intimate partner or spouse (The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2020). This project examines lumber and naval stores workers from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries along the Gulf Coast of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. After the Civil War, lumbermen who had exhausted the timber supply in the North and Midwest looked to the South’s pine forests as the national demand for lumber and lumber products increased. The creation of the lumber and naval stores industries along the Gulf Coast pine belt, however, coincided with labor abuses, including the convict lease system and debt peonage. Nest-building in social insects requires layered communication to coordinate complex, functional structures for housing, protection, storage, and homeostasis. This is especially striking in mound-building termites, which construct and repair large mounds collectively despite lacking image-forming eyes. This thesis investigates how Odontotermes obesus achieves such coordination through chemical communication embedded in soil.

Using controlled two-choice assays with manipulated soils, I separated airborne volatile signals from contact non-volatile signals by baking to remove volatiles, a mesh assay that presented volatile cues without contact, and solvent extraction with reapplication of contact cues. Early, noninvasive identification of these lesions using voice as a biomarker may improve diagnostic access and outcomes. Reintroducing native plants into restoration and revegetation projects could increase plant species diversity, increase floral resources for pollinators, and positively affect trophic-level interactions in the community. Direct seeding in restoration projects has generally had poor success rates due to biotic and abiotic factors, leading to significant seed wastage of the already insufficient native seed supply. Seed balls (aka seed aggregates, seed bombs, and seed pellets) are a low-cost, low-tech seed enhancement technology.
