This thesis explores the integration of blockchain technology with smart cities to enhance efficiency, transparency, and reliability. The basic principles of blockchain, its layered architecture, consensus protocols, and decentralized security are first reviewed. The thesis then highlights how blockchain features can be integrated with urban and energy systems. The research focuses on how token economy can be used with smart cities to promote individuals to engage in desired behaviors by employing blockchain-based incentive mechanisms that can encourage responsible energy consumption.

Students in schools who speak multiple languages need opportunities for multimodal learning. A study was conducted to observe how middle level English Learners used multimodal (text, audio, video, imagery) resources in a Language Arts - Social Studies class. The research question was: What patterns of engagement with content, and each other, were manifest by middle level ELs while using multimodal resources in a general education history class? Critical Dialogue As A Decolonial Feminist Approach To Healing And Restoration In Antiracist Literacy Education, Dianne Wellington, Amy Walker

Intersections: Critical Issues in Education

Antiracist work requires healing and restorative practices to sustain meaningful change. This study examines critical dialogue as a restorative practice in literacy education, using duoethnography to explore its role in antiracist efforts. Grounded in decolonial feminist research, we frame healing as an intergenerational movement and literacy education as a catalyst for transformation. Our findings advocate for restorative literacies that challenge systemic oppression, emphasizing relational, justice-driven practices to foster resilience, transformation, and coalition-building in academia. We offer implications for how literacy education can engage lived experiences, histories, and epistemologies to support individual and collective healing.

Framed by Hornberger’s continua of biliteracy model, this study investigated the developmental dynamics of academic biliteracy among Emirati university students. The research employed a sequential mixed-methods design, conducted across three public universities in the UAE. In the initial qualitative phase, interview data were collected from 30 students. Informed by these findings and the extant literature, a quantitative survey was then developed and administered to a sample of 299 students from various disciplines. The qualitative data were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis, while the quantitative data were examined using advanced statistical analyses, including structural equation modeling. Digital mapping applications may lack integrated data on pet policies for points of interest (POIs), which can lead users to consult fragmented and potentially inaccurate external sources when planning travel with pets. A system and method are described for integrating pet-compatibility data into a navigation application. The system can utilize a multi-source data engine to aggregate and harmonize information from sources such as crowdsourced user reports, third-party data providers, and artificial intelligence analysis of public web data. Proposed herein is a system to facilitate fault detection and root cause analysis (RCA) in distributed systems using a network of artificial intelligence (AI) agents that can work together to perform distributed debugging. The proposed system employs a hybrid architecture of centralized and localized AI agents, each co-located with network devices, enabling near-real-time, context-aware analysis of logs, traces, ring-buffers and other telemetry at the point of generation.

In generative artificial intelligence application development, manually consolidating iterative, multi-turn conversational interactions into a single, static prompt for production use can be a time-consuming and error-prone process. Systems and methods are described that may automate this conversion. The technology can programmatically analyze a conversational history for thematic coherence. Based on the analysis, a consolidation module may apply conditional logic, for instance, by structuring coherent turns into a few-shot prompt or pruning less relevant turns to help isolate a user's intent. The time-series forecasting, for example in supply chain management, can be challenged by high-dimensional and noisy market data, which may lead to model overfitting and the inclusion of spurious correlations. A framework for automated feature engineering and multi-stage selection can help address these challenges. The process can programmatically generate a large set of potential features, such as time-lagged variables, from heterogeneous data sources. A multi-stage selection protocol can then be applied, which may first use correlation-based filtering to prune features, followed by an iterative, model-driven stage that uses backtesting to evaluate and promote features based on their predictive value.
