BACKGROUND: Postmenopausal women face an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) due to estrogen withdrawal, which exacerbates traditional cardiovascular risk factors such as dyslipidemia, glucose intolerance, and hypertension. Coronary Artery Calcium Score (CACS), a well-established marker of subclinical atherosclerosis, has emerged as a key predictor of adverse cardiovascular events. Despite the recognized association between menopause and heightened CVD risk, there remains a paucity of literature exploring the specific role of menopause in influencing CACS and its implications for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.

The gut-brain axis plays a critical role in maintaining neuronal integrity and influencing the progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Here, we investigated how commonly consumed dietary fibers modulate gut microbiota, lipid metabolism, and AD pathology in 5xFAD mice. Male mice were fed either fiber-free (FF) or fiber-plus (FP; 1% cellulose, 2% pectin, 2% inulin) diets for five months, followed by integrated analyses of gut microbiota (16 S rRNA sequencing), fecal lipid metabolites (LC-MS/MS), and neuropathological and behavioral outcomes. Historically, education and workforce-development programs have relied on survey data or state-government administrative data to examine program impacts. However, surveys are costly, reasonable comparison groups can be difficult to identify, and results from analyses of a single state’s administrative data can seldom be generalized to enable broader conclusions. This brief discusses a research collaboration between the Center for Social Development, the National Student Clearinghouse, and a large credit bureau. Organic material, such as biochar, can improve soil fertility and crop yield under water stress. A pot experiment was conducted to consider the effects of biochar on the pigment content, enzyme activity, physiological characteristics, and nutrient uptake of foxtail millet under water stress. Plants were tested under normal, mild, and severe irrigation regimes (100%, 75%, and 50% field capacity, respectively) using different biochar sources (licorice root biochar (LRB), cow manure biochar (CMB), cotton residue biochar (CRB), and municipal waste biochar (MWB)) and a control without fertilizer. BACKGROUND: The Hypertension Treatment in Nigeria Program was implemented across 60 primary healthcare centers (PHCs) in Nigeria to improve hypertension treatment and control using the World Health Organization's HEARTS package. This study reports the program's implementation outcomes.

METHODS: The Hypertension Treatment in Nigeria Program used a type 2 hybrid interrupted time series design, and data were collected from January 2020 to December 2023. The RE-AIM (Reach, Effectiveness, Adoption, Implementation, and Maintenance) framework guided the evaluation, focusing on key metrics such as patients' and clinics' characteristics, prescription rate of fixed dose combination (FDC) drugs, medication availability, and retention.

Neurodevelopmental proteasomopathies are a group of disorders caused by variants in proteasome subunit genes, that disrupt protein homeostasis and brain development through poorly characterized mechanisms. Here, we report 26 distinct variants in PSMC5, encoding the AAA⁺ ATPase subunit PSMC5/RPT6, in individuals with syndromic neurodevelopmental conditions. Combining genetic, multi-omics and biochemical approaches across cellular models and Drosophila, we unveil the essential role of proteasomes in sustaining key cellular processes. Loss of PSMC5/RPT6 function impairs proteasome activity, leading to protein aggregation, disruption of mitochondrial homeostasis, and dysregulation of lipid metabolism and immune signaling. Double-stranded DNA ends arise from external agents or cellular processes like transcription-replication collisions (TRCs), threatening genome stability. Here, we performed genomic CRISPRi screens to uncover DNA end formation factors in Escherichia coli. We discovered that translation-transcription decoupling causes DNA end formation through a TRC-dependent pathway, which is lethal when DNA end processing by RecBCD is disrupted, but not when recombination is disrupted. We find that TRCs cause replisome stalling followed by "rear-ending" from trailing replisomes which generates free DNA ends, rather than strand breaks. Heart transplantation significantly enhances survival and quality of life for patients with end-stage heart failure. Despite advances in surgical and postoperative care, immune-mediated complications, acute graft rejection and cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV), remain major barriers to long-term success. Acute rejection predominantly affects early posttransplant survival, whereas CAV becomes a leading cause of mortality in later years. The gold standards for diagnosis, endomyocardial biopsy for rejection and coronary angiography for CAV, are invasive and imperfect. Noninvasive multimodality imaging is increasingly used to complement or, in selected scenarios, defer invasive testing. The Nuclear Factor I (NFI) family of transcription factors orchestrates key regulatory programs in development, differentiation, and metabolism, with dysregulation implicated in diverse pathological conditions, including cancer. Among the paralogs, NFIB has emerged as an oncogenic driver in multiple tumor types, yet the mechanisms through which it engages DNA and directs oncogenic transcriptional programs remain undefined. Here, using cancer cells with high NFIB expression, we demonstrate that NFIB promotes malignant phenotypes, as CRISPR-Cas9 knockout impairs proliferation, migration, and invasion. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical and implementation outcomes of an antimicrobial stewardship program (ASP) intervention to improve antibiotic therapy for a rapid diagnostic test (RDT) for bloodstream infections (BSIs).

DESIGN: Retrospective pre and postintervention study.

SETTING: Single pediatric tertiary center from August 2022 to May 2024.

PSD-95 is a pivotal postsynaptic scaffolding protein that regulates synaptic maturation, receptor localization, and signaling proteins, including mediating NMDA receptor clustering and function in synaptic plasticity. NMDA receptor-dependent LTD is dependent on multiple post-translational modifications. One of these modifications, phosphorylation of PSD-95, destabilizes the protein which can prompt the exit of associated AMPARs from postsynaptic spines. Our investigations highlight a potential factor in PSD-95 destabilization, isomerization of phospho-T19 by Pin1. We hypothesize that Pin1 mediated phosphorylation of PSD-95 may either protect or target PSD-95 for ubiquitination, playing a critical role in NMDAR-LTD.

This presentation reflects on my experience as a social work intern at Riveredge Hospital through the CELTS Fall 2025 Internship Award. I will discuss my work primarily in the adolescent girls unit while also supporting adolescent boys, children and adult patients. The presentation highlights clinical responsibilities including psychosocial assessments, crisis safety planning and therapeutic engagement with patients facing substance use, unstable home environments and histories of neglect or abuse.
