Control Of A High-Performance Z-Source Inverter For Fuel Cell/Supercapacitor Hybrid Electric Vehicles, Omar Ellabban, Joeri Van Mierlo, Philippe Lataire 2010 Helwan University

Control Of A High-Performance Z-Source Inverter For Fuel Cell/Supercapacitor Hybrid Electric Vehicles, Omar Ellabban, Joeri Van Mierlo, Philippe Lataire

Omar Ellabban

This paper presents a supercapacitor (SC) module connected in parallel with fuel cell (FC) stack to supply a high-performance Z-Source Inverter (HP-ZSI) feeding a three phase induction motor for hybrid electric vehicles applications. The supercapacitor is connected between the input diode and the bidirectional switch of the highperformance ZSI topology. The indirect field-oriented control (IFOC) method is used to control an induction motor speed during motoring and regenerative braking operations to produce the modulation index and a dual loop controller is used to control the Z-network capacitor voltage to produce the shoot-through duty ratio. MATLAB simulation results verified the validity …

Auto Dialer Wireless Smoke Detector/Alarm System, Manny Linhares 2010 California Polytechnic State University - San Luis Obispo

Auto Dialer Wireless Smoke Detector/Alarm System, Manny Linhares

Electrical Engineering

Smoke Detectors/Alarms save the lives of over sixty percent of people each year in the United States. Most of the existing homes are still fitted with the normal smoke detectors either running out of the 120V ac wiring or out of a 9V dc battery. These alarms are perfectly fine to alert residents if there is a fire while they are home. But for people who are away from home when a fire occurs, it would be nice if they could be alerted automatically of such an occurrence and therefore be able to act upon the event by either calling …

Design And Implementation Of A Signal Conditioning Operational Amplifier For A Reflective Object Sensor, Ankit Master 2010 University of Tennessee - Knoxville

Design And Implementation Of A Signal Conditioning Operational Amplifier For A Reflective Object Sensor, Ankit Master

Masters Theses

Industrial systems often require the acquisition of real-world analog signals for several applications. Various physical phenomena such as displacement, pressure, temperature, light intensity, etc. are measured by sensors, which is a type of transducer, and then converted into a corresponding electrical signal. The electrical signal obtained from the sensor, usually a few tens mV in magnitude, is subsequently conditioned by means of amplification, filtering, range matching, isolation etc., so that the signal can be rendered for further processing and data extraction.

This thesis presents the design and implementation of a general purpose op amp used to condition a reflective object …

Energy Efficient Led Displays, John Mani Kumar Jupalli 2010 University of Nevada, Las Vegas

Energy Efficient Led Displays, John Mani Kumar Jupalli

UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones

In this research work, an innovative pixel architecture RGBW, consisting of red (R), green (G), blue (B), and white (W) LEDs, is designed and implemented for color generation. Energy consumption of new pixel architecture consisting of RGBW LEDs is compared to standard architecture consisting of RGB LEDs. Human perception experiments are conducted to study the differences in perception between the two architectures when the same colors are generated using RGBW vs. RGB. Measurements of power for a 32inch x 16inch LED display has proved up to 18% power savings for low saturated colors, up to 8% for high saturated colors …

Rf Shields That Can Be Integrated With Ic Test Handlers, Chin-Leong Lim 2010 Avago Technologies, Malaysia

Rf Shields That Can Be Integrated With Ic Test Handlers, Chin-Leong Lim

Chin-Leong Lim

This paper describes several radio frequency interference shields that have been developed for integration with high-speed bulk-input turret-test IC handlers. The shields were developed to mitigate interference to noise figure measurements of Low Noise Amplifier components. Two categories of shielded enclosures were evaluated for shielding effectiveness and ease of incorporation into the existing machines and manufacturing processes. The first category enclosed the handler's working area in its entirety, while the second one enclosed the testboard only. Variation in the testboard shield design was required to suit different collet trajectories between handler models. The shielding effectiveness (SE) was measured according to …

A Neural Network Based Speed Control Of A Linear Induction Motor Drive, Adel A. Elbaset, Ahmed A. Hassan, Yehia S. Mohamed, T. Hiyama,, T. H. Mohamed 2010 Minia University

A Neural Network Based Speed Control Of A Linear Induction Motor Drive, Adel A. Elbaset, Ahmed A. Hassan, Yehia S. Mohamed, T. Hiyama,, T. H. Mohamed

Dr. Adel A. Elbaset

In this paper, a general regression neural network (GRNN) based controller is used to control the speed and thrust output of the linear induction motor drive. The field orientation principle is used to asymptotically decouple the motor speed from the secondary flux. The idea of model predictive control technique is used for the training of the proposed controller. The motivation for using this control strategy for training the GRNN based controller is to reduce the effect of the uncertainty due to motor parameters variation and load disturbance. This newly developed design strategy combines the advantage of the neural networks and …

Makara Journal of Technology

The whole cell immobilization in ethanol fermentation can be done by using natural carriers or through synthetic carriers. All of these methods have the same purpose of retaining high cell concentrations within a certain defined region of space which leads to higher ethanol productivity. Lignocellulosic plant substance represents one of highly potential sources in ethanol production. Some studies have found that cellulosic substances substances can also be used as a natural carrier in cell immobilization by re-circulating pre-culture medium into a reactor. In this experiment, rice hulls without any treatment were used to immobilize Saccharomyces cerevisiae through semi solid state …
