Best Management Practices (BMPs): What? How? And Why? (May 26)

The Environmentally Friendly Drilling Systems (EFD) Program, managed by the Houston Advanced Research Center, works to identify, develop and transfer critical, cost effective, new technologies that can provide policy makers and industry with the ability to develop natural gas reserves in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. Funding for the EFD Program is through a grant from the Research Partnership to Secure Energy for America, established under the 2005 Energy Act. Within the EFD Program, some projects focus on technologies for developing energy sources in environmentally sensitive areas; others (like the NRLC’s BMP Project) seek ways to reduce the environmental …

Renewable Energy Policy In Ukraine, Joe Ralbovsky 2011 Syracuse University

Renewable Energy Policy In Ukraine, Joe Ralbovsky

Renée Crown University Honors Thesis Projects - All

The purpose and motivation behind the creation and administration of a renewable energy policy creation simulation was to test the usefulness and feasibility of a participatory simulation as a way to teach concepts of policy, negotiation and energy strategy. The learning objectives of the simulation were illustrate the challenges associated with developing comprehensive policy, to teach the content of the simulation in an effective and meaningful way, and to provide a chance to practice discussion and negotiation skills in a practical setting.

I chose to place the simulation in the setting of Ukraine to avoid preconceptions about energy policy on …

North American Energy Water Nexus Roundtable

The North American Energy-Water Nexus roundtable was held April 1, 2011, to promote the discussion of how energy and water issues converge in addressing international relations. The roundtable focused on water issues specific to the U.S.-Mexico and U.S.-Canada borders, including stakeholder-driven solutions for water policies and water technologies. The event was co-sponsored by the UNLV Urban Sustainability Initiative; Desert Research Institute; the Canadian Consulate of Los Angeles; and the government of Ontario, Canada.

Why Do Some Nations Have More Renewable Energy Policies?, Melissa Dahl 2011 Bemidji State University

Why Do Some Nations Have More Renewable Energy Policies?, Melissa Dahl

Political Science Theses and Capstones

Some nations have considerably more renewable energy policies than others and this research is attempting to discover why. Renewable energy use is quickly growing in our world and has become a major topic in today’s politics. Existing literature suggests various theories as to why some nations have more renewable energy policies than others. I test these theories with data from two major data sources; REN21, the Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century, and the International Energy Agency. I anticipate that nations with a larger number of effective political parties, higher GDPs, and larger population would have more renewable …

Las Negociaciones Entre Las Comunidades Nativas Machiguengas Y La Industria Extractiva Dentro Del Proyecto Camisea: Asesorando Los Roles De Y Las Interacciones Entre Los Actores, Julia Kim

Independent Study Project (ISP) Collection
