Equilibrium And Disequilibrium Interpretations Of The Is-Lm Model, Gary Smith
Cowles Foundation Discussion Papers
There is a considerable tension in neoKeynesian macroeconomics as to whether the familiar IS-LM analysis should be interpreted as a description of equilibrium or disequilibrium. The present paper shows how the IS-LM model can be used for either purpose. The first section provides the preliminaries for the model of disequilibrium behavior that I will use. The second section lays out the sectoral notional and effective demands. The third section gives the equilibrium solution while the fourth and fifth sections give excess supply and excess demand solutions respectively.

One dressmaker, Mrs. A. H. Taylor of Bowling Green, Kentucky, was studied in order to draw attention to the role of the dressmaker in American fashion. A biography of Mrs. A. H. Taylor and the business history were compiled; available designs were analyzed in relation to current fashion; and an investigation of the business organization was made. It was found that the dressmaking establishment played an important role in the lives of women of that time period. Fashionable custom fit clothing was made available to local residents and to mail-order customers. The establishment was one of the few businesses which …

A Systematic Approach To Education In The Andrews Independent School District, Pat K. Watkins
Graduate Theses
During the past decade, people in most areas of public and private life have turned to questioning the conditions under which they live and the quality of life itself. After years of rapid expansion, deficiencies, obsolete facilities, and practices, inadequacies in the educational product, and lack of long-term goals that are generally agreed upon by consumer and producer became apparent. Many people think that somebody is responsible for the shortcomings and should be held accountable. Determining responsibility for learning results is complicated by the many variables, controllable and uncontrollable, that affect the outcomes of the learner's experiences. Who is responsible …

The Unemployment Rate: Time To Give It A Rest?, Stewart J. Schwab, John J. Seater
The Unemployment Rate: Time To Give It A Rest?, Stewart J. Schwab, John J. Seater
Cornell Law Faculty Publications
The most overworked figure in our society may be the unemployment rate. Newscasters, politicians, and economists use it in discussing everything from the overall health of the economy to the merits of alternative welfare programs. Despite its widespread use, however, the unemployment rate frequently is criticized for not indicating the true state of the economy’s health or of society’s welfare.
