ABSTRACT:

This paper explores the history of the Cornell Local Roads Program and how it helps to satisfy Cornell’s land grant mission as an extension program. Then the paper will look at the programs impact both directly and indirectly on the economy of New York State, via its role in improving local road infrastructure and providing highway departments with trainings and technical support.

Social Studies has the potential to impact STEAM education in unrealized ways. It can have this impact by being meaningful, integrative, value-based, challenging, and active. This article examines teaching about Carolina African Runner peanuts and the history of Alabama’s agriculture. The introduction of peanuts to Alabama and the enslavement of African people cannot be removed from a lesson such as this – nor should it. It is through value-based education that social studies contributes the most to STEM and STEAM lessons. This packet describes the structure of a single-semester introductory economics course with no prerequisites that uses no calculus. The content is primarily constituted of open educational resources (OER). The packet is organized as a 13-week, 26-lecture semester, with problem sets due at the end of each week, midterm exams after lectures 8 and 18, and a final exam at the end of the semester. The Bee Effect Initiative Bank uses an integrated approach to foster financial inclusion in the North West region of Cameroon. This paper has several services under three main themes; economic wellbeing, capacity building, and insurance. Its theory of change and objectives while seeking to make profit centers on creating social change. The mechanics in the paper seek to evoke sustainable economic change in cross sectors- savings, credit, capacity building, and insurance with ROSCAs as target clientele.
