Multi-Robot Hierarchical Collaborative K-Robust Path Planning For Path Interference, Kaixiang Zhang, Jianlin Mao, Niya Wang, Zhihao Xu
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: To plan collision-free paths for multiple robots in interference environments, based on the multi-robot k-robust path planning, this paper designed a multi-robot hierarchical collaborative k-robust path planning framework. In the priority optimization layer, in response to the starting predicament caused by the solution sequence, the multi-robot path solving sequence was determined based on the closure factor. In the multi-robot robust coordination layer, with the goal of improving solution efficiency, a safety interval was introduced as the basis for the design of k-robustness and collision-free avoidance. A collision-free path constraint for multiple robots in the sense of k-robustness was given. …

Research On Non-Singular Fast Integral Terminal Sliding Mode Trajectory Tracking Control Of Six-Axis Robotic Arm, Tao Chen, Lizhong Wang, Xiangjun Zou, Xiaojuan Li
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: To address the trajectory tracking control challenges caused by modeling parameter inaccuracies and disturbance uncertainties in robotic arms, a non-singular fast integral terminal sliding mode control scheme was developed. A new type of non-singular fast integral terminal sliding mode controller was designed. The non-singular fast terminal sliding mode ensured the rapid convergence of the system while avoiding the singularity during convergence. The integral term was used to enhance the suppression ability of disturbances and ensure the rapid response of the controller to errors. Lyapunov stability theory was applied to analyze the controller's convergence. The simulation results show that the …

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
Itinerary recommendation is a complex sequence prediction problem with numerous practical applications. The task becomes significantly more challenging when optimizing multiple factors simultaneously, such as user queuing times, crowd levels, attraction popularity, walking durations, and operating hours. These factors, combined with the dynamic and unpredictable nature of visitor flow, introduce substantial complexities, particularly when accounting for collective user behavior. Existing solutions often adopt a single-user perspective, overlooking critical challenges arising from natural crowd dynamics. For example, the Selfish Routing problem illustrates how individual decision-making can lead to suboptimal outcomes for the group as a whole. To address these challenges, we …

Algebraic Multigrid Methods For Nonsymmetric And Indefinite Problems: Theory And Applications, Ahsan Ali
Mathematics & Statistics ETDs
Algebraic multigrid (AMG) is a well-established and highly efficient solver for symmetric positive definite (SPD) systems arising from elliptic and parabolic PDEs, while nonsymmetric systems from hyperbolic PDEs remain a significant challenge. This dissertation develops AMG methods and theory for nonsymmetric problems. First, we develop a novel approach combining mode constraints from energy-minimization AMG with local approximations of ideal restriction in $\ell$AIR, resulting in constrained $\ell$AIR (C$\ell$AIR), which demonstrates scalable convergence across advective and diffusive problems. Second, we extend optimal AMG theory by deriving spectral radius estimates for the two-grid error transfer operator using matrix-induced orthogonality, enabling convergence predictions for …
Optimizing Distributed Boundary Exchanges For Benchmarks, Solvers And Sparse Matrix Operations, Gerald Collom
Optimizing Distributed Boundary Exchanges For Benchmarks, Solvers And Sparse Matrix Operations, Gerald Collom
Computer Science ETDs
Boundary exchanges dominate the cost of both stenciled codes and those that rely on sparse matrix operations. The performance of large boundary exchanges is limited by synchronization overheads and injection bandwidth limitations. Irregular boundary exchanges incur additional overheads due to the large number of required messages. This thesis investigates multiple methods for improving the performance and scalability of both Cartesian and irregular boundary exchanges. Since boundary exchanges are typically performed iteratively, persistent communication presents an opportunity for optimization by sharing and amortizing setup costs. Partitioned communication is also explored to increase asynchrony, reducing bottlenecks from synchronization overheads and data congestion. …

Verkhivker
Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research
The rapid evolution of SARS-CoV-2 has underscored the need for a detailed understanding of antibody binding mechanisms to combat immune evasion by emerging variants. In this study, we investigated the interactions between Class I neutralizing antibodies—BD55-1205, BD-604, OMI-42, P5S-1H1, and P5S-2B10—and the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein using multiscale modeling, which combined molecular simulations with the ensemble-based mutational scanning of the binding interfaces and binding free energy computations. A central theme emerging from this work is that the unique binding strength and resilience to immune escape of the BD55-1205 antibody are determined by leveraging a broad epitope …

An Exponential Cone Integer Programming And Piece-Wise Linear Approximation Approach For 0-1 Fractional Programming, Hoang Giang Pham, Thuy Anh Ta, Tien Mai
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
We study a class of binary fractional programs commonly encountered in important application domains such as assortment optimization and facility location. These problems are known to be NP-hard to approximate within any constant factor, and existing solution approaches typically rely on mixed-integer linear programming or second-order cone programming reformulations. These methods often utilize linearization techniques (e.g., big-M or McCormick inequalities), which can result in weak continuous relaxations. In this work, we propose a novel approach based on an exponential cone reformulation combined with piecewise linear approximation. This allows the problem to be solved efficiently using standard cutting-plane or branch-and-cut procedures. …
