The Production Of Table Grapes In Western Australia, Jim Campbell-Clause
The Production Of Table Grapes In Western Australia, Jim Campbell-Clause
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
The table grape industry in Western Australia is expanding to fill increasing export and domestic demand. Expansion of the industry has been based on Redglobe production in new areas ranging from Camarvon in the north to Margaret River in the South. Expansion has been rapid with success due in part to adoption of research findings. Jim Campbell-Clause reviews the direction the industry must follow to continue to expand. It will need to adopt new varieties to fill market niches, use production methods that minimise inputs and off site effects and maximise yield and quality.

Understanding Fertilisers For Table Grapes, B. H. Goldspink, I. Cameron, J. Campbell-Clause, N. Lantzke, C. Gordon
Viticulture research reports
A course run by the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, August 1995.
The purpose of this publication is to clarify the role fertilisers play in commercial table grape production and to detail methods of selecting fertilisers. This selection process however is not easy as there are over 600 registered fertilisers in Western Australia.
In deciding which is the best fertiliser for a particular property many factors have to be considered. These include:
* Age of vine
* Rootstock
* Variety of table grape
* Soil type
* Soil chemistry

Miscellaneous Publication 10/94 - The Climate And Soils Of South-Western Australia In Relation To Vine Growing, J. S. Gladstones
Viticulture research reports
The vine industry in Western Australia is at present located mainly in the Swan Valley, some 15 miles inland from Perth. It produces currants for export, wine grapes, and table grapes for both local and export markets, in approximately that order of importance.
Climatically, the Swan Valley is well suited to vine fruit production. With an annual rainfall of about 34 inches, it has a mild, wet, almost frost-free winter, and a warm, dry summer. Olmo (1956) concluded that the Swan was especially well suited to the production of currants, table grapes and sweet dessert wines. However, he considered that …

Bulletin No 4242 - The Lyre Trellis For Viticulture, Alain Carbonneau Dr, Vincent P. Desplat, John F. Elliott, Peter Watt
Bulletins 4000 -
The lyre vine training system uses wide rows, an open canopy, and shoot positioning to increase grape maturity and quality while maintaining production levels. It is so named because the end-on view of the vine canopy trained to this type of trellis resembles the shape of the musical instrument, the lyre.
This improvement in quality has not only been established in the diverse experimental vineyards of the National Institute for Agronomic Research (INRA) in France but also in many commercial vineyards throughout the major wine growing regions of the world.
