Climate Adaptation And Water Conservation Decision-Making In Paso Robles, California Vineyards, Christopher R. Klier
Climate Adaptation And Water Conservation Decision-Making In Paso Robles, California Vineyards, Christopher R. Klier
Master's Theses
This paper examines vineyard perceptions and adoption of climate change adaptation and water conservation measures in the Paso Robles American Viticultural Area (AVA). A survey was distributed to all 220 vineyards and vineyard management companies that operate in the AVA, with a 53.64% response rate. The objective of the survey was to determine vineyard manager and owner attitudes towards climate change and adaptation, as well as their perceptions of how these threats would impact their operation. A second objective was to document the current level of water conservation and climate adaptation while identifying the barriers and opportunities for further adoption …
The Effect Of A Fifty Percent Leaf Harvest From Three Varieties Of Collards (Brassica Oleracea(L)/Cultivar Group Acephala) Cropped At Selected Intervals When Grown In A Wiregrass Tunnel House, Terrence Jackson, Raymon Shange, Mia Norris, Cassandra Searight, Michele S. Foo, Victor Khan, James E. Currington, Edward Sparks, Ramble Ankumah, Nathaniel Ellison, George X. Hunter, Jeffery Moore
The Effect Of A Fifty Percent Leaf Harvest From Three Varieties Of Collards (Brassica Oleracea(L)/Cultivar Group Acephala) Cropped At Selected Intervals When Grown In A Wiregrass Tunnel House, Terrence Jackson, Raymon Shange, Mia Norris, Cassandra Searight, Michele S. Foo, Victor Khan, James E. Currington, Edward Sparks, Ramble Ankumah, Nathaniel Ellison, George X. Hunter, Jeffery Moore
Professional Agricultural Workers Journal
A study was conducted to determine the effects of a 50% leaf harvest from ‘Heirloom’, ‘Georgia’, and ‘Hi-Crop Hybrid’ collards on yield, when leaves were removed at 18-, 21-, and 25- day intervals, over four harvest periods of 102, 127, 152, and 177 days after transplanting in a Wiregrass Tunnel House. The experimental design used was a split-split plot with three replications, where harvest periods were main plots, cropping intervals (3) were sub-plots, and varieties were sub-sub-plots. Yield data (lbs./acre) showed significant interactions between harvest periods x cropping intervals for leaf numbers and yield, harvest periods x varieties, and cropping …
Yield Response Of ‘Whatley-Loretan’ Sweetpotato (Ipomoea Batatas (L.)) Transplanted In Single And Double Row At Different Dates In A Wiregrass Tunnel House, Marquess James, Raymon Shange, Cassandra Searight, Victor Khan, James E. Currington, Ramble Ankumah, Michele S. Foo, Nathaniel Ellison, George X. Hunter, Jeffery Moore
Yield Response Of ‘Whatley-Loretan’ Sweetpotato (Ipomoea Batatas (L.)) Transplanted In Single And Double Row At Different Dates In A Wiregrass Tunnel House, Marquess James, Raymon Shange, Cassandra Searight, Victor Khan, James E. Currington, Ramble Ankumah, Michele S. Foo, Nathaniel Ellison, George X. Hunter, Jeffery Moore
Professional Agricultural Workers Journal
A split-plot study was conducted to evaluate the yield response of ‘Whatley-Loretan’ sweetpotato when planted in single and double rows at four planting dates (March, April, May, and June) in a Wiregrass Tunnel House located at S&B Farm in Eufaula, Alabama. The main plots consisted of planting dates, sub-plots single, and double rows, with each treatment combination, replicated three times. The results showed a significant linear and quadratic effect for US#1 grade of sweetpotato and total marketable yields. Yields were highest at the first and second planting dates and declined at the two later planting dates. Single vs. double row …
The Wine Stone Inn, Kendall N. Doud
The Wine Stone Inn, Kendall N. Doud
Agricultural Education and Communication
The Wine Stone Inn is a new 12-room boutique hotel currently being built in Old Town Orcutt, California. The hotel is seeking a grand opening that will attract vintner business, agribusiness, and agricultural vendors for the hotel, and help promote local wineries and breweries in the Santa Maria Valley. Orcutt is a growing township, which is becoming very attractive to visitors because of the walking distance to restaurants, local pubs, wine venues, and other businesses that project growth in the future. Agribusiness makes up a small percentage of the corporate market and agritourism is a growing segment in this area. …
Radical Social Ecology As Deep Pragmatism: A Call To The Abolition Of Systemic Dissonance And The Minimization Of Entropic Chaos, Arielle Brender
Radical Social Ecology As Deep Pragmatism: A Call To The Abolition Of Systemic Dissonance And The Minimization Of Entropic Chaos, Arielle Brender
Student Theses 2015-Present
This paper aims to shed light on the dissonance caused by the superimposition of Dominant Human Systems on Natural Systems. I highlight the synthetic nature of Dominant Human Systems as egoic and linguistic phenomenon manufactured by a mere portion of the human population, which renders them inherently oppressive unto peoples and landscapes whose wisdom were barred from the design process. In pursuing a radical pragmatic approach to mending the simultaneous oppression and destruction of the human being and the earth, I highlight the necessity of minimizing entropic chaos caused by excess energy expenditure, an essential feature of systems that aim …
