In 2005, David Beck and Jeanne Crawford purchased Casa-Blanca Vineyard and renamed it as Crawford-Beck Vineyard and owned it for 17 years. This collection focuses on the evolution of Crawford-Beck Vineyards from 2005 to 2023. It contains multiple business documents and records, such as expansion plans, invoices, and LIVE evaluation records. The collection also explores the personal growth and achievements of David and Jeanne Beck, the owners of Craw-Beck Vineyard. This includes their enrollment at Chemeketa Community College, their involvement in the wine industry in Oregon, and their personal assortment of books and articles. The collection was donated by Richard (Dick) Erath, the founder of the Erath Winery in Dundee, Oregon. The collection contains financial information about the Winery, publicity found in newspapers and magazines, personal plans, details of the wine-making process, multiple drafts of the biographical book The Boys Up North; among much other information, and a bottle of the first commercial wine produced by the Erath Winery in 1972.

In the late nineteenth century, burgeoning viticulture developments in Jackson County exhibited strong economic potential. However, early efforts to establish a wine industry in Southern Oregon were curtailed by the passage of the Volstead Act, initiating prohibition. This report describes the impacts of climate and phenology on vintage for the North Willamette Valley in Oregon in 2019. A relatively mild early winter in 2018 was followed by a cold and wet second half of winter in 2019 and then a wet, but warm, spring. The growing season saw a few mild frosts during late April, but started off warmer than average, moderating through mid-vintage with fewer than average heat spikes. Near-record precipitation amounts during late June and early July brought increased disease pressure to the region. The vintage will be remembered for the early rains in September …
