Computer Assisted Instruction Wood Identification Program, Dave Moyer
Computer Assisted Instruction Wood Identification Program, Dave Moyer
Graduate Research Papers
In the development of wood identification skills, certain factors are important. These include: mastery of both terminology and technique, repetitive practice experiences, and an individualized approach in both guidance and feedback to the learner. The use of the computer as a programmed instructional aid provides for an individualized approach to learning, simulated teacher-student interaction, and feedback and reinforcement to stimulate learning. The problem of this activity is to develop a computer assisted instructional program to enable the learning of techniques for identifying selected samples of hardwoods.
Mechanical Testing Of Small, Clear Timber, Paul V. Mcclannahan
Mechanical Testing Of Small, Clear Timber, Paul V. Mcclannahan
Graduate Research Papers
The purposes of the research project were:
1. To investigate the technological methods employed in mechanical testing of small clear timber.
2. To discover the uses, importance, and need for mechanical testing within the wood industry.
3. To experiment with the construction and development of various types of testing equipment similar to that being used by industry.
4. To explore the possibility of adapting mechanical testing of wood samples to the junior or senior high industrial arts wood laboratory
Jigs And Fixtures In Wood Industries, Arno K. Grabe
Jigs And Fixtures In Wood Industries, Arno K. Grabe
Graduate Research Papers
As an integral part of most woodworking industries, jigs and fixtures are worthy of some study. There is very little evidence of written material covering the topic even though the use of many of these devices is widespread throughout industry. The fact that these devices normally result in a substantial saving in production costs can often make them an important facet of a firm's business.
This saving can be accomplished in a number of different ways: use of unskilled workers, standardization of parts, interchangeability of pieces, reduction of safety hazards, and lowering of production time. Not all points will apply …
The Long Term Effects Of Frequent Cropping, Stanley Thomas Smith
The Long Term Effects Of Frequent Cropping, Stanley Thomas Smith
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
AGRICULTURALLY speaking, few Western Australian soils are more than 50 years old. We have the responsibility of preserving them for farming—not for one man's lifetime, but for centuries.
The aim of this article is to demonstrate that cropping and cultural practices do have some effects on the soil, and that these effects should be considered when choosing a farm rotation.
