Whodunnit, Otterbein University Theatre And Dance Department

1986 Summer Theatre

The detectives may not know who the killer is but the audience knows. An announcer gives them the real facts. Following that, there's the fun of watching the experts—and the amateur—as they struggle to solve the dire murder. Is it the butler? Is it Grandma? It just couldn't be sweet Alice! The wind howls, lights flicker and bloodcurdling screams are heard … some shore done it! It's an amazingly easy production for a large group when fun's the object. https://www.dramaticpublishing.com/browse/one-act-plays/whodunit

Plenty, Otterbein University Theatre And Dance Department

1986 Summer Theatre

Hare's inspiration for Plenty came from the fact that 75 per cent of the women engaged in wartime SOE operations divorced in the immediate post-war years; the title is derived from the idea that the post-war era would be a time of "plenty", which proved untrue for most of England.

Matoaka, June Nan Cooper

Institute for the Humanities Theses

"Matoaka" is the first draft and partial scoring of an original music/play about the Powhatan Indians of Tidewater, Virginia. This music/play is actually the second in a projected series of three about the Powhatan Indians and the Native American world view. "Matoaka" is staged from a Powhatan perspective on the events surrounding the English settlement of Jamestowne in the year 1607. As much of the Powhatan culture has been destroyed, the Powhatan world view is reconstructed and interpreted from current and historical readings about Native Americans. The introduction includes a discussion of the author's creative process in the writing of …

Extremities, Otterbein University Theatre And Dance Department May 1986

Extremities, Otterbein University Theatre And Dance Department

1985-1986 Season

A play is always fundamentally play. Storytellers have known for centuries that the artistic medium that turns their stories Into play Is the theatre. It Is with this mind, that this company of players has approached Extremities. It is a story written about a contemporary social theme that affects each of our lives to a greater or lesser degree and a theme difficult with which to play. The Issue addressed is rape: not a playful subject, but a serious concern.

A Toby Show, May 16-17, 1986, Theatre Arts Discipline

Theatre Programs

University of Minnesota, Morris production of A Toby Show by Aurand Harris and directed by Raymond J. Lammers.

A Toby Show brings back to the stage an American folk character of Toby, a country bumpkin who through naiveté, honesty and homespun humor outwits the city slickers. Toby is a great role for an energetic actor. The play is a colorful segment of American drama. This farce melodrama recreates traditional situations and stock characters through jokes and stage business. Starring in Cinderella, Toby enacts a comic variation of the fairy godmother. With music and specialty numbers, the production excitingly evokes …
