Saif Bin Omar's Novel About The Ridda Of The Tamim Tribe, Irsan Ramini

This article re-examines the authenticity of Sayf Bin Omar's account of the ridda among Tamīm, his own tribe. Sayf implies that the main body of Tamīm remained faithful to Madina at the advent of Muhammad's death. However, modern scholars have discredited Sayf's account on the grounds that 1) the Hadīth's critics considered him unreliable; hence rejecting his transmissions altogether. 2) All other Arab historians disagree with him on this matter. This research is based on the recent Hebrew translations of the Holy Quran: Al-Adawi and Al-Basul’s translations. In this research, I critically analyze these two translations in light of three phenomena of the Arabic rhetorics; specifically, antonymy, synonymy, and polysemy. Based on this research, I conclude that both translators did not consider the above mentioned phenomena for various reasons. The present study examines Abū ʿAmr ibn al-ʿAlāʾ (d. 154/770), an important scholar whose life coincided with the rise of the various disciplines of Qur’anic philology. I examine his contribution to the field Qur’anic philology, focusing on three distinct yet overlapping genres: Qur’anic chronology, Qur’anic counting, and variant readings. This article explores sibling relations in Mamdūḥ ‘Azzām’s (1950- ) Lā tukhbir al-ḥiṣān (2019, Don’t Tell the Horse). Using Mikhail Bakhtin’s (1895-1975) theories on the dialogic nature of the novel and the polyphony of voices existing in a single text, the article charts the characters’ movement in and out of the different storylines in ‘Azzām’s novel, and the way in which this informs the dynamic of the family story. This research presents Ibn Qutaybah al-Dinuri's efforts in establishing literary standards and critical terms and the issues of ancient and modern in literature, as well as lexical items and meaning, and the indication of the critical judgement terms for the critic's stance on poetry from objective points of view such as linguistic and phonological aspects, and following the way of the ancients as to the division of the poem, the effect of the quantity and quality on the poets ranking, and general taste.
