God As Über-King Of Moral Leading: Veiled And Unveiled, Paul K. Moser
God As Über-King Of Moral Leading: Veiled And Unveiled, Paul K. Moser
Philosophy: Faculty Publications and Other Works
How can the Biblical God be the Lord and King who, being typically unseen and even self-veiled at times, authoritatively leads people for divine purposes? This article’s main thesis is that the answer is in divine moral leading via human moral experience of God (of a kind to be clarified). The Hebrew Bible speaks of God as ‘king,’ including for a time prior to the Jewish human monarchy. Ancient Judaism, as Martin Buber has observed, acknowledged direct and indirect forms of divine rule and thus of theocracy. This article explores the importance of divine rule as divine direct leading, particularly …
State Charter School Law Scores As A Predictor Of Illegal Activity Within The Chartering Sector, David Stashevsky
State Charter School Law Scores As A Predictor Of Illegal Activity Within The Chartering Sector, David Stashevsky
All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations
State charter school policy is influenced through a collaboration between advocacy groups and state legislators. Charter school advocacy groups have an inherent bias toward deregulation and autonomy. Two advocacy groups, the Center for Education Reform (CER) and the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools (NAPCS), each conduct annual analyses on state charter school laws using their own model charter law as the comparator. Each group has developed a rubric of indicators with sub-scores which combine to form an overall state score. Higher scores indicate a closer adherence to the advocacy group’s model charter law. The charter school sector in the …
Virginia Woolf's Response To The Female Artist Confronting The Patriarchy, Kristin M. Callender
Virginia Woolf's Response To The Female Artist Confronting The Patriarchy, Kristin M. Callender
ETD Archive
With her body of work, Virginia Woolf joins a host of female novelists decrying the lack of power that women in general wield in a patriarchal society. Specifically, her novels To the Lighthouse and Orlando provide a hopeful response to the dismal depiction of the female artist in Victorian literature, namely Anne Brontë’s The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. Because of its subject matter of domestic abuse, unfortunately the experience of too many women in a society in which husbands are given too much power, Tenant was not regarded with respect in Brontë's lifetime. The novel so obviously portrays a woman …
Where Will I Be From, Melissa Loney
Where Will I Be From, Melissa Loney
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Where Will I Be From is an exhibition and film centered around the intersections of generational grief and technology. I documented domestic locations connected to my family across the Great Plains. This on-site photo documentation was then used to create photogrammetric renderings of these locations and their structures, recorded in the open-source CAD software Blender. Together, these familial places, separated by hundreds of miles, were digitally compiled to make one collective world. The aesthetic of this project connects the visual languages of Southern Gothic and Low-Poly Video games. The Gothic nature exposes an isolated decaying presence within a rural landscape. …
Oscillith Matara, James Reilly Dickens-Hoffman
Oscillith Matara, James Reilly Dickens-Hoffman
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Oscillith Matara is a series of improvisational acousmatic compositions that explore themes of birth, death, trauma and transformation. Each composition is an entry from a log of my daily practice. This practice is a meditation using electronic instruments as feedback devices to explore my states of consciousness as it relates to my present situation and personal history. The sound generated through this process of reflecting and responding acts as a cathartic medium for processing depression, anxiety and chronic pain. As a thesis exhibition Oscillith Matara is presented as a group of selected works and is performed as a fixed duration …
Standing On The Edge Of A Dream, Parto Ahmadpour Mobarake
Standing On The Edge Of A Dream, Parto Ahmadpour Mobarake
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Standing On the Edge of a Dream delves into the intricate tapestry of lived experiences shaped by relocation, emphasizing the nuanced space that exists between reality and imagination. As an individual who has undergone the transformative journey of immigration, I recognize that the concept of relocation is like standing on the edge of a dream. This notion becomes a living structure, intricately woven with threads from our past, present, and future. My artistic exploration extends beyond my artworks, yet it remains deeply rooted in my personal narratives. The artworks in the exhibition continue to draw inspiration from personal memories and …
How I Came To Jam With The Angels Of The Dirty South: A Journey Into Art And Art Education, Miki Skak
How I Came To Jam With The Angels Of The Dirty South: A Journey Into Art And Art Education, Miki Skak
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This paper dives into my personal journey from a far-left activist youth into becoming an artist. It explains how a poet saw artistic potential within me, introduced me to the world of art and eventually art education. I reflect on the art education I have received from several different art schools and how they try to adapt to the demands of the contemporary art world that has been in a constant condition of reshaping itself since Marcel Duchamp’s readymade. As an artist who is less focused on the techniques of traditional artistic mediums, I investigate how the state of art …
Falling Down The Rabbit Hole: World Building In Ya Literature, Claire Webb
Falling Down The Rabbit Hole: World Building In Ya Literature, Claire Webb
Undergraduate Honors Theses
World building is a key component to many young adult novels, but what is world building and what are some different styles and techniques that authors use when constructing fictional universes? In this thesis, Falling Down the Rabbit Hole: World Building Techniques in YA Literature, I will examine Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll (1865), The Princess Bride by William Goldman (1973), and my own unpublished novel, The Sun Kingdom, to compare different techniques and styles of world building. These works will be explored through the aspect of world building, focusing specifically on the importance of the geography, language, …
In-Person And Remote Employees And Information Security Policy Compliance, Joyce Mui
In-Person And Remote Employees And Information Security Policy Compliance, Joyce Mui
All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Many workers have changed their working status from in-person to remote, in the past several years, with a large increase in the number of employees working remotely during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. In parallel, the increasing costs of data breaches and number of security incidents continue to be a concern to organizations seeking to protect their organization, systems, and data. This study’s research questions were formed using a theoretical framework of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to discover influences on employee behavior and the Social Bonds Theory (SBT) to address strength of relationships and impact to compliance. This …
An Aristotelian Model Of Education, Cecilia Hunt
An Aristotelian Model Of Education, Cecilia Hunt
Aristos
This paper explores a model of education that draws primarily on Aristotle’s philosophy and that of Thomas Aquinas. I discuss the way in which Aristotle’s understanding of education has the broad aim of human flourishing. I argue that an Aristotelian approach to education aims to help students to cultivate moral and intellectual virtue and to love learning, thereby helping students to become critical thinkers who know how to think deeply and live well. In this view, since learning is proper to human beings as rational animals, education is intrinsically valuable, not merely instrumentally valuable. For this reason, I suggest that …

Al-Hafez Al-Qawariri And His Views Regarding The Narrators: A Study Of Collected And Authenticated Works, Dr. Atef Abdelhamid Ahmed
Faculty Peer-Reviewed Papers | بحوث هيئة التدريس المحكمة
This research demonstrates the life of Al- Hafez Al- Qawariri and his knowledge of the Holy Hadith, its sciences, tracing his views regarding the narrators of Hadith, studying those views comparatively and identifying his approach of amendment and modification. This research has relied on the inductive and comparative descriptive approaches. During the process of collecting Al- Qawariri's views, the researcher has considered what the Imams have stated in their books about the narrators because Al- Qawariri's classifications are still missing. The number of the narrators within this research has counted around forty- three. Thirty- four narrators of them have been …

Organized Banking Tawarruq: Legal Drawbacks And Practical Solutions, Dr. Mohamed Hassan Abdel-Wahhab
Organized Banking Tawarruq: Legal Drawbacks And Practical Solutions, Dr. Mohamed Hassan Abdel-Wahhab
Faculty Peer-Reviewed Papers | بحوث هيئة التدريس المحكمة
The research starts from what most contemporary jurists have concluded by permitting traditional tawarruq and prohibiting contemporary applications of organized banking tawarruq. The research works to study and analyze the legal drawbacks of tawarruq in Islamic banks in order to confirm or deny them, while trying to find solutions for them that are acceptable for application in practical reality. A number of results were reached, including that the drawbacks of banking tawarruq are: the customer not knowing that he is buying and selling, the customer’s authorization of the bank for the second sale, the lack of arrest, and the harm …
Adolescent Well-Being And Exclusionary Discipline: A Resiliency Model, Rachel Ballard
Adolescent Well-Being And Exclusionary Discipline: A Resiliency Model, Rachel Ballard
All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Adolescents, especially those with a mental illness, often behave in ways judged to be impulsive, overly emotional, and irresponsible (Gogtay et al., 2004; Lawrence et al., 2015; Tamnes et al., 2010). Many teen behaviors which concern adults can be related to underdeveloped skills or competencies, rate of brain development, or expressions of mental disorders (Casey et al., 2011; Serbin et al., 2011; Spear, 2000). Behaviors commonly associated with adolescence, such as impulsivity, risk-taking, and efforts to fit in with peers, are often seen as a serious threat to school harmony, learning, and student safety, necessitating a disciplinary response from school …
The Disney College Experience: A Full Recollection Of Moments And Memories Of The Disney College Program Internship, Lauren Jumonville
The Disney College Experience: A Full Recollection Of Moments And Memories Of The Disney College Program Internship, Lauren Jumonville
Undergraduate Honors Theses
I decided to do the Disney College Program as my honors thesis because Disney is something I am very passionate about. I worked for the Disney Company before and knew that I wanted to continue my experience with them. I went into the program hoping to discover what the college program could do to prepare me (or any prospective programmer) for the profession and for a life in performance. In January of 2023, I made my way to Orlando, Florida, to start my next journey with the Walt Disney World Company. I went through four different orientation processes, as well …
A Pursuance Of Self, Kassidy Albert
A Pursuance Of Self, Kassidy Albert
Undergraduate Honors Theses
The self portrait is a consistent aspect of art history, with many artists returning to it again and again across their lives. This project intends to explore the function of the self portrait. Through research and execution of artwork, the artist has found that the self portrait has multiple functions, including: a practice of anatomy; a display of status, skill, and likeness; an outlet for emotion; and a place for psychological confrontation. Across the life of this project, the artist completed twenty-two self portraits in a variety of styles and materials.

Development Of Back-Scatter And Pile-Up Identification For Ucna+, Amelia Greathouse
Undergraduate Honors Theses
The UCNA Experiment at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE) uses
an electron spectrometer to observe angular correlations between the neutron spin and the momenta of beta particles emitted during the process of beta (β) decay. Combined with neutron lifetime measurements, these observations probe physics beyond the standard model. In recent years there has been an effort to modernize the equipment to reduce the physical limitations of the experiment. The new prototype helps to reduce error via use of silicon photo-multipliers (SiPMs) and the SiPMs also have a greater quantum efficiency than the photomultiplier tubes (PMTs). However, there is …
Food As A Literary Device In The Hunger Games: World Building, Characterization, And Plot Momentum, Linzee Mitchell
Food As A Literary Device In The Hunger Games: World Building, Characterization, And Plot Momentum, Linzee Mitchell
Undergraduate Honors Theses
Food relates to the experience of life, survival, and memory. It impacts us every day, whether we have plenty of it or not. It influences our memories and connects us to one another, while structuring details of our identities and cultures. As a creative writer and English major, I recognize that food influences a story to accentuate literary concepts and unveil them, such as a character’s compassion or the poison that a villain uses to unfold the plot. The best example of food as an impactful device within a story is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. From the first …

Navigating Through Narratives: The Development Of Opening Cinematics, Jacob Q. Stewart
Undergraduate Honors Theses
This project demonstrates opening cinematic design from conceptualization to final composition. Using Unreal Engine 5, I created an opening cutscene using Unreal’s sequencer editor to film and edit my shots. This document presents the steps I took to create my sequence from the writing process to the final layout. Starting as a written story, I worked my way to the final project by creating a mock scene and storyboarding. After this, I built my scene using assets from the Unreal marketplace and lit my scene with HDRI and dynamic lighting. I encountered many new programs such as Cascade and Mixamo …
The Power Of Female: The Representation Of Female Composers Through A Senior Flute Recital, Savannah Palmer
The Power Of Female: The Representation Of Female Composers Through A Senior Flute Recital, Savannah Palmer
Honors Program Theses and Research Projects
In a prominent number of musical performances, the number of female compositions being performed is small. The dominance of male composers throughout time has created a barrier that prevents female composers from being represented in the music community. Female composers possess great creativity and virtuosity in their compositions, yet gender bias impacts their representation in music repertoire, specifically flute repertoire (Fairouz, 2017). With less than 6.10 percent of female compositions being programmed in concerts and recitals, members of various communities are lacking exposure to the powerful musical works that women create (Peters, 2016). To empower female composers and demonstrate their …
“I Hope You Are Not Being Stupid About Children”: Transforming Literature Pedagogy Through Children’S Literature, Ashley Cheyenne Johnson
“I Hope You Are Not Being Stupid About Children”: Transforming Literature Pedagogy Through Children’S Literature, Ashley Cheyenne Johnson
English Dissertations - Archive
In this dissertation, I assert that children’s literature is particularly productive for making the literature classroom a more engaging space for students in any genre or historical period of literature taught because it 1) fosters equity; 2) creates confidence; 3) garners student engagement; 4) is valuable; and 5) is an effective, productive, and accessible conduit for studies of literary theory. This dissertation argues for a paired-texts methodology, and incorporates pedagogy theory and scholarship, as well as cultural studies and literary analysis to explore the productive intersections of themes, topics, and modes of writing found in children’s literature that align with …
