Spatial Spillovers In Emergency Lending: Evidence From Bayesian Quantile Models Of Reconstruction Finance Corporation Lending During The Great Depression, Oncel Aldanmaz Jan 2026

Spatial Spillovers In Emergency Lending: Evidence From Bayesian Quantile Models Of Reconstruction Finance Corporation Lending During The Great Depression, Oncel Aldanmaz

CMC Senior Theses

This thesis investigates whether emergency lending by the Reconstruction Finance Corporation (RFC) generated spatial spillovers across U.S. counties between 1932 and 1936. Using a monthly panel of 2,979 counties constructed from digitized RFC card index records, we estimate Bayesian quantile regression models for binary longitudinal data (QBLD) that allow spillover effects to vary across the conditional distribution of lending propensity. Neighboring lending exposure is positively associated with own-county lending outcomes across a wide range of quantiles and subsamples, with the strongest effects at the lower tail, where counties are least likely to receive lending. This pattern is consistent with a …

Teaching Equity Early: The Role Of Undergraduate Education In Improving Lgbtqia2s+ Medical Care, Arthur Morris Jan 2026

Teaching Equity Early: The Role Of Undergraduate Education In Improving Lgbtqia2s+ Medical Care, Arthur Morris

Honors Capstone Projects

Due to persistent barriers in the medical system, LGBTQIA2S+ people in America face harmful healthcare disparities. Healthcare providers’ ability to work with LGBTQIA2S+ patients is a critical component of mitigating this harm. While forms of provider education have begun to address the need for culturally compassionate LGBTQIA2S+ medical care, there appears to be an underutilized opportunity to introduce these concepts in undergraduate settings. By providing an early introduction to LGBTQIA2S+ compassionate care, undergraduate institutions can better equip aspiring medical students to serve people with diverse sexualities and gender identities, improving provider competency and contributing to a more equitable healthcare system. …

Preliminary Investigation Of The Carbon Storage Potential In The Fort Worth Basin: Reservoir Characterization And Modeling Of The Lower Atoka Grant South Sand In Tarrant County, Texas, Mary Ann M. Moody Jan 2026

Preliminary Investigation Of The Carbon Storage Potential In The Fort Worth Basin: Reservoir Characterization And Modeling Of The Lower Atoka Grant South Sand In Tarrant County, Texas, Mary Ann M. Moody

Earth & Environmental Sciences Theses

Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is crucial for mitigating atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions that rise from industrial activities. Paleozoic sedimentary basins in Texas are significant reservoirs for hydrocarbon production, and when depleted, show promise for CCS. Long-term reservoir storage suitability requires a multifaceted approach, including site screening and ranking, as well as reservoir characterization, modeling, and simulation. This project first evaluates the CCS potential for the Fort Worth Basin in North Central Texas, then focuses on reservoir characterization of the Lower Atoka Grant South (STH) Sand in Tarrant County and finally assesses the sand’s CO2 storage …
