Buprenorphine (BUP) is widely used in the treatment of neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome (NOWS). However, the most compounded formulation contains 30% ethanol, despite regulatory and clinical concerns regarding ethanol exposure in pediatric patients. Thus, this research aimed to develop an ethanol-free sublingual (SL) gel formulation of BUP that would be safe, stable, and suitable for NOWS. Multiple polymers were screened as gelling agents, with hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) emerging as the ideal base polymer for the formulation due to its optimal pH, rheological characteristics, and stability. This case study describes the integration of a board-certified music therapist into two specialty dental clinics at the University of Rochester Medical Center’s Eastman Institute for Oral Health. Initiated in collaboration with the Eastman Performing Arts Medicine Center, the effort reflects a humanistic and biopsychosocial approach to dentistry that leverages music therapy to reduce anxiety, improve patient experience, and support better clinical outcomes.

Before implementation, monthly interdisciplinary planning meetings were held, bringing together dental faculty, research and administrative staff, and the music therapy team. As public relations efforts increasingly integrate AI into operations, examining how the disclosure of AI as the source in organizational crisis communications affects public perceptions is increasingly relevant. This research investigates the effects of AI disclosure across matched crisis responses within a 3 (match crisis response: victim crisis-scapegoating, accidental crisis-excuse, preventable crisis-apology) x 2 (source disclosure: AI vs. human) experimental design survey. Key findings reveal that crisis responses with human sources, compared to those with AI disclosure, led to greater perceptions of organizational reputation and credibility across the three matched crisis responses. Organizations increasingly deploy artificial intelligence (AI) in human resource (HR) decision processes to improve efficiency and strategic execution, yet ethical failures persist when principles remain decoupled from everyday workflow enactment. This paper addresses AI-ethics in HR practice by advancing a behavior-first premise: AI-ethics becomes durable organizational practice only when ethical intent is translated into observable routines and cues that employees can interpret as legitimate and consistently enforced. The VSSD is a research-supported online discussion model that can produce significant increases in student perceptions of social presence, learning, and satisfaction as compared to the traditional text-based, asynchronous, whole-group discussion model. In the VSSD, students lead the discussion experience by scheduling a synchronous, remote video meeting with their small group, they engage in the discussion topic for 30 to 45 minutes, then individually record a privte reflection video that is submitted to the instructor for evaluation and feedback.

This study constructs an index reflecting Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) news coverage and evaluates its impact on bank stability. The CBDC Attention Index (CBDCAI) is formulated based on more than 533 Reuters Digital News Report articles from 2019 to 2023. Employing the System Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) approach with data from 92 banks across ASEAN-5 nations, and implementing quantile regression for robustness checks, the findings demonstrate a significant relationship between the CBDCAI and bank stability, alongside variables such as bank size and capitalization. This study explores the relationship between green banking disclosure, firm performance, and firm value, with firm size and age as moderating variables. The study analyzed 578 observations from 43 banking companies in Indonesia. The findings reveal that green banking disclosure significantly negatively impacts firm performance and value, suggesting that green banking efforts may not always yield positive shortterm financial outcomes. However, firm size and age were found to moderate these relationships. Based on these findings, the study highlights the importance of carefully designed green banking strategies and a deeper understanding of their financial impacts by banking management. We investigate the linear and nonlinear optical properties of (sub-nm) Ag6 and Au6 clusters doped with Sc and Y using time-dependent density functional theory. Both parent clusters have D3h ground-state geometries but exhibit noticeably different electronic structures; scalar-relativistic corrections in Au6 induce significant s-d hybridization, resulting in larger HOMO-LUMO gaps and reduced one-photon absorption (OPA) cross-sections compared to Ag6. Two-photon absorption (TPA) peaks in the UV region show resonance enhancement via coupling with OPA-active states, with Ag6 having larger cross-sections than Au6. Doping with Sc and Y modifies the optical responses by breaking configurational symmetry and lifting HOMO degeneracies. ScAg5 …

Machine learning systems often experience performance degradation in real-world scenarios due to subpopulation shift defined as mismatches in the distribution of classes or attributes within datasets. This thesis investigates generalization failures arising from class imbalance, long-tailed distributions, and attribute-level biases (specifically, attribute-level biases that originate from demographic imbalances in sensitive domains, such as medical imaging). It proposes principled strategies to mitigate these effects in both classical and deep learning frameworks. Class imbalance and long-tailed distributions pose significant challenges, especially in real-world applications where minority classes are underrepresented yet critically important. Military service provides a path toward the middle class by granting veterans benefits, including healthcare and compensation for disabilities acquired during service. Military characterization of service, assigned by the Department of Defense at separation, can qualify or disqualify veterans from benefits access. Black service members are 50% more likely than White service members to receive an Other Than Honorable rather than an Honorable discharge, resulting in disproportionate impediments to the benefits designed to facilitate re-entry into civilian life and prevent poverty. Yet, the Department of Defense provides little meaningful remedy for Black veterans to correct less than Honorable discharges, instead …

Purpose

The role of adjuvant fractionated radiotherapy (aFRT) after gross total resection (GTR) of WHO-2 meningiomas remains unclear. We aimed to estimate the effect of aFRT on recurrence risk and survival following GTR and subtotal resection (STR).

Methods

We analyzed 1452 patients with WHO-2 from our international, multicenter database (followed between 1989 and 2019). Outcomes were recurrence (10-year follow-up) and death (5-year follow-up). Risk estimates were obtained using competing risks and survival analysis. Mechanisms responsible for skeletal muscle kidney crosstalk have not been defined. We have determined that a circulating mediator, signal regulatory protein α (SIRPα), impairs intracellular insulin-mediated functions. To elucidate the effect of myokine SIRPα on diabetic kidney disease (DKD), flox mice and muscle-specific (m-specific) SIRPα-KO mice were subjected to an obesity-induced model of diabetes, high-fat diet (HFD; 60%) or insulin-deficient hyperglycemia model, streptozotocin (STZ), and were subsequently exposed to anti-SIRPα monoclonal antibodies. In the obesity-induced diabetic mice, serum SIRPα increased. Genetic deletion of muscle SIRPα protected against obesity and improved intracellular insulin signaling in muscle and adipose tissue, with reduced …

The purpose of this qualitative study is to explore how leadership style, communication practices, and organizational structure affect clinician engagement at BHOA. Grounded in the Baldridge Performance Excellence Framework and supported by transformational leadership theory, the study examines how leadership behaviors and communication pipelines shape motivation, burnout, and workforce alignment.
