HDAC inhibition shows promise in cancer treatment but pan-HDAC inhibitors cause gastrointestinal issues in 48% of patients. Understanding HDAC activation mechanisms is crucial to treating diverse diseases beyond cancer. Our study reveals that inositol polyphosphate multikinase (IPMK) and inositol hexakisphosphate (InsP6 or phytic acid), enriched in vegan diets, play essential roles in activating the HDAC3 epigenetic axis and maintaining intestinal barrier integrity. IPMK binds to HDAC3 and drives InsP6 synthesis, which selectively activates HDAC3 at a 10 nM concentration by recruiting the DAD domain of its corepressor protein. This paper proposes an innovative tool designed to standardize the evaluation of validity and reliability studies in the rapidly evolving field of wearable technology. We introduce the WEArable Technology Risk of Bias and Objectivity Tool (WEAR-BOT), a tool that addresses the need for a comprehensive and systematic way to assess bias in studies examining consumer-grade and research-grade wearable devices. This is the first tool designed to evaluate the risk of bias in validation and reliability studies. Tracing The Molecular Route To Progression In Mirna-Biogenesis-Defective Thyroid Lesions, Anne-Sophie Chong, Rebecca D. Chernock, Et Al.

Germline and somatic changes in DICER1 and DGCR8 microprocessors confer risk of developing benign and malignant thyroid lesions, yet the molecular events driving malignant transformation remain unclear. We trace the molecular trajectories from benignity to malignancy in DICER1- and DGCR8-mutated thyroid lesions using multiomic profiling on over 30 DICER1-/DGCR8-mutated samples. Our findings reveal a progressive, specific, and linear accumulation of genetic changes, which when combined with enhanced downregulation of miRNAs distinguished DICER1-/DGCR8-malignant lesions from their benign counterparts. Compensatory hypomethylation of miRNA-encoding genes characterized DICER1-/DGCR8-benign lesions, but as the tumors progressed to malignancy, methylation was partly reimposed, reversing the attempts to …

This fact sheet presents data on the number of abortions provided annually in the Mountain West states of Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah between July 2022 and June 2025. The data are retrieved from the Society of Family Planning’s #WeCount report,  which includes data on abortion volume across all 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C. This fact sheet focuses on the administration of both in-person and telehealth abortions in the Mountain West.

Purpose: The global food system is undermining human and planetary health. Urgenttransdisciplinary action is required among food system stakeholders equipped to address complexchallenges. This study identified and prioritised curriculum concepts for tertiary education, with theaim of preparing entry-level nutritionists and dietitians to contribute to sustainable food systems andplanetary health within their practice.Methodology: A mixed-methods Q study was conducted. Curriculum concepts were identified fromliterature and an online survey (n 84, 23 countries), then prioritised by workshop participants (n 43, 11countries) based on relevance for entry-level nutritionists and dietitians. Whilst youth offending has been declining, there have been increases in serious youth violence in the last decade. Therefore, there is a pressing need to prevent youth crime and violence owing to its prevalence, harms and cost to society. Part of the effort to address this involves identifying and disseminating evidence-based practice. We explore key challenges in this endeavour and offer ideas for how to address them. This Doctor of Nursing Practice project is a staff education initiative designed to evaluate the impact of an educational intervention on primary care staff's knowledge and confidence in recognizing oral health red flags that warrant dental referral. A pre and posttest design was used to assess changes in knowledge and self-reported confidence following the intervention. Oral health is a vital yet often under-addressed component of primary care. Patients with early oral disease usually present in primary care settings. Still, these conditions may go unrecognized due to the limited oral health training among clinic staff. In interwar America, the relatively young profession of dentistry was developing rapidly. As the government, health institutions, and social organizers focused more intently on notions of national wellness, questions about how to achieve a healthy smile—and what a healthy smile should look like—proliferated. Groups like the National Dental Association worked to establish rigorous standards of technique, define ethical behavior, and encourage dentists to develop business acumen, yet the surprising proliferation of blues songs about dubious dentists tricking unassuming clients, or about fraught love affairs allegorized by disastrous dental exams, highlights the equivocal nature of many developments in early dentistry.

Ascites, or a pathologic accumulation of intra-abdominal fluid, is a key feature of intraperitoneally disseminating cancers, such as ovarian cancer. This pathological fluid buildup can influence the adhesive abilities of ovarian cancer cells, as they spread throughout the abdominal cavity to form metastatic implants on organs lined with a specialized monolayer of mesothelial cells. Robust methods for assessing the impact of fluid shear stress on this cell-cell interaction are lacking. Here, we develop and characterize a novel microfluidic device that allows for the determination of the attachment of ovarian tumor cells to mesothelial cells under the influence of fluid flow. …

Virginia creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia) is a vigorous and aggressive deciduous vine in the grape family (Vitaceae), known for its rapid growth, dense foliage, and striking fall color. Some landscapers consider this plant a nuisance because of its aggressive growth, potential damage to weak structures, and difficulty in removing, but others love it for its potential for erosion control, rapid coverage, fall color, and as a bird and pollinator habitat.

Dental phantoms have been used in dental education since the late nineteenth century. These pedagogical objects – particularly those from the first half of the twentieth century – have today enjoyed a resurgence of interest in the art and film worlds.
