Clinical supervision practices, although essential to counselor development, often reflect limited cultural competence among supervisors contributes to unclear expectations, conflicting roles, and isolation, leading to stress, negative internalization, and compromised professional development. The purpose of this hermeneutic phenomenological study was to explore the lived experiences of racial and ethnic minority supervisees in clinical supervision within the mental health counseling profession. Organizations increasingly rely on business process outsourcing (BPO) to reduce costs, access specialized expertise, and improve efficiency; however, failure rates in BPO initiatives remain high, leading to financial loss, operational disruptions, and reduced competitiveness. Business leaders who lack effective strategies to manage outsourcing projects risk eroding customer satisfaction and organizational performance. Grounded in transaction cost economics and the resource-based view, the purpose of this qualitative single-case study was to explore strategies some business leaders used to successfully manage BPO initiatives. Intimate partner violence (IPV) during pregnancy remains a global health challenge. This study aimed to explore pregnant women’s experiences of IPV, support seeking, and coping strategies in Southwestern Uganda. Pregnant women who had experienced IPV during pregnancy were purposively selected and completed in-depth interviews, with data saturation reached after 25 participants. Guided by the feminist theory, data were analyzed deductively and inductively using thematic analysis. The marine mycobiome is a largely unexplored area of research despite its importance to the environment as a carbon sink, nutrient manager, and as a symbiont of various marine life. With rising temperatures, there is a need to identify the fungi present in these environments to monitor changes in biodiversity and their effect on climate change. Along Tampa Bay, six sites were chosen to collect samples from surface water using a CTD rosette system. To provide a broad, comprehensive picture of affect regulation in the context of sexual and gender minority stress, this scoping review aims to identify and synthesize methods, methodologies, and available evidence pertinent to emotion regulation and coping in the context of minority stress among sexual and gender minority (SGM) people.

Brain parcellation schemes are fundamental to neuroimaging, yet general-purpose atlases may obscure the specific functional architecture relevant to a given cognitive task or clinical condition. This reflects a growing consensus that the “optimal” brain map is context-dependent. Here, we introduce a novel framework that validates this principle by generating task-optimized human brain parcellation maps directly from supervised learning objectives. Our method defines functional parcels by grouping brain regions based on the similarity of their contributions to a classifier's decision boundary for a specific goal (e.g., cognitive state decoding or clinical group separation). This chapter, prepared for the Handbook of Development Economics (Vol. 6), reviews recent microeconomic evidence on the causes of resource misallocation in developing countries. It distinguishes between “technological” and “distortionary” wedges, develops a unified theoretical framework linking market power, taxes, financial frictions, and firm dynamics, and summarizes empirical findings from the “direct approach” to misallocation. The authors emphasize how wedges vary by firm size and discuss policy implications for improving allocative efficiency.

This study examines the thinking, practices, and significance of Wei Xiqin (1882- 1952). Born in Germany and educated in various European countries, Wei was a musician and educator who played an active role in the educational reform of the Republic of China. Wei was equipped with modern European thoughts but held deep reverence for Confucianism and other traditional Chinese classics. Examining this contentious figure in the wake of “Chinese Evolutionism” trend, this study investigates the differences between Wei’s evolution theory and the dominant evolution theory during early 20th-century China. This article reviews the latest advances in the generation and control of perfect vector beams using metasurfaces. In recent years, metasurfaces have garnered increasing interest due to their simple fabrication and easy integration. Perfect vortex beams (PVBs), as a type of vector beams, exhibit complex polarization states that require the superposition of multiple phases for their generation. The use of metasurfaces provides a compact platform for the generation of perfect vortex beams and enables more complex vortex beam control tasks, which are quite challenging for traditional optics. This study examines the impact of board diversity by gender and nationality on audit fees. It also assesses how board diversity moderates the relationship between corporate financial risk and audit fees in the context of recent governance changes in Egypt, as a developing country. Using a sample of 360 firm-year observations of non-financial firms listed on the EGX100 from 2014 to 2019, we conduct univariate and multivariate analyses to examine the impact of board diversity on audit fees after controlling for firm and audit committee characteristics. BACKGROUND: High-sensitivity cardiac troponin (hs-cTn) assays performed in the central laboratory have long turnaround times. This study evaluates the clinical performance of a novel bedside point-of-care (POC) hs-cTnI assay (i-STAT® hs-TnI) to aid in the diagnosis of myocardial infarction (MI).
METHODS: A prospective multisite cohort study involving emergency department (ED) patients with symptoms suggestive of acute coronary syndrome was conducted at 28 sites across the United States. Serial whole blood samples were collected at 0-1 h and >1-3 h from ED presentation. Primary outcome was MI or non-MI. This study examines how frequently the specular reflection of sunlight—that is, sun glint—reveals the presence of ice crystals that maintain a steady horizontal orientation. The study analyzes data from the Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC) onboard the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) spacecraft and from collocated images taken by geostationary satellites. The analysis of spatio-temporal variations in glint frequency over vegetated land surfaces reveals that (a) year-to-year variations are modest with no clear trends; (b) glints typically occur 7%–8% more frequently than previously estimated; (c) glints are most frequently observed during the May-August period, and over Asia. Over the past two decades, museums have increasingly experimented with digital technologies to connect with broader contemporary culture. This review article investigates the role crowdsourcing can play in transforming museums into more engaged environments, raising visibility and inclusivity, and involving diverse voices and populations in knowledge-creation processes. Its contribution is to provide an overview of the history, definitions and concepts of crowdsourcing, and examples of crowdsourcing policies and practices that have been adopted by museums. We report a 22-year-old male, who presented in 2020 to a clinic in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey, with a 5-year history of a fixed preoccupation with the belief of emitting a ‘plastic smell’ from his anal region. This case illustrates a clinically significant link with a history of childhood sexual abuse. The patient was diagnosed with olfactory reference disorder (ORD) with poor insight and comorbid depressive disorder, based on ICD-11 and DSM-5-TR criteria. Extensive medical workups ruled out organic causes. He responded well to a combination therapy of sertraline and aripiprazole, showing significant symptom reduction. The black soldier fly (BSF) larvae is a rich and promising source of alternative protein that continues to increasingly gain global traction as a functional ingredient for sustainable livestock and fish production. The key setback to postharvest processing of stored BSF larvae (BSFL) products is the significant damage caused by two notable storage pests (Tribolium castaneum and Necrobia rufipes). Here, we present a comparative analysis of the complete mitochondrial genomes and gut microbiome profiles of T. castaneum and N. rufipes. Interactions among tumor, immune, and vascular niches play major roles in glioblastoma (GBM) malignancy and treatment responses. The composition and heterogeneity of extracellular core matrix proteins (CMPs) that mediate such interactions are not well understood. Here, we present an analysis of the clinical relevance of CMP expression in GBM at bulk, single-cell, and spatial anatomical resolution. We show that CMP enrichment is associated with worse patient survival, specific driver oncogenic alterations, mesenchymal state, pro-tumor immune infiltration, and immune checkpoint expression. Matrisome expression is enriched in vascular and leading edge/infiltrative niches that are known to harbor glioma stem cells. Finally, we …

Nuclear protein in testis (NUT) carcinoma (NC) represents a rare, clinically aggressive cancer defined by pathognomonic NUT Midline Carcinoma Family Member 1 (NUTM1) gene fusions, with bromodomain and extraterminal domain (BET) protein 4 (BRD4)-NUTM1 being the predominant oncogenic driver. Since its description in 1991, gradual advances have clarified the pathologic mechanisms of NC and its diagnostic methods; however, NC treatment remains a significant challenge. Moreover, diagnostic and treatment approaches for this cancer require further validation and standardization. The stimulator of interferon genes (STING) pathway plays a crucial role in immune responses and has emerged as a compelling target in cancer therapy. Despite promising preclinical studies, clinical trials of STING agonists have largely failed to deliver durable efficacy, with no agents progressing to phase III trials. This review examines the biological, pharmacological, and clinical barriers limiting STING pathway activation in cancer treatment. We discuss the inherent limitations of STING agonists as well as host-related resistance driven by tumor heterogeneity, immune suppression, and chronic STING activation. Mobile communication with non-terrestrial networks can be impacted by signal degradation and link budget constraints. These impacts may result from factors including path loss over satellite distances and the limited transmit power of a mobile device. To address these impacts, multiple, physically distinct user devices can be coordinated to function as a distributed antenna array. A primary computing device, for example, a smartphone, laptop, or tablet, can orchestrate the operation of one or more secondary devices, such as a smartwatch, wearable device, or another smartphone. Economists of a certain age will remember a world in which the history of economic thought (HET) was alive and flourishing. Today, that is not the case. One little-noticed consequence of the elimination of HET from graduate programs in the United States is that the HET course is an endangered species at the undergraduate level. It is not, however, extinct. This paper offers a brief history of HET as a course and explores the extent of the diminution in HET courses in the undergraduate liberal arts college curriculum in the United States. Cyclic nucleotide-binding domain (CNBD) channels are critical components of numerous bioelectrical processes, including cardiac pacemaking, neuronal signaling, phototransduction in the eye, and stomatal regulation in plants. While members of this channel family share a conserved overall structure, they exhibit striking differences in voltage sensitivity. Hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated channels are activated by membrane hyperpolarization, whereas ether-à-go-go channels open upon depolarization. Mutagenesis and chimeragenesis studies have revealed that some mutants display bipolar gating behavior-remaining closed at intermediate membrane potentials but capable of opening in response to both hyperpolarization and depolarization. BACKGROUND: Biofluid proteomics can enhance our understanding of the neurodegenerative mechanisms underlying Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRDs). Oligodendrocyte myelin glycoprotein (OMG) is a brain-specific protein implicated in myelination, but its potential mechanistic, biomarker, and therapeutic roles in ADRDs requires further elucidation.
METHODS: After detecting an inverse association between its abundance in peripheral circulation and cortical amyloid deposition in two community-based cohorts, the current study characterized OMG's role in ADRDs with high-throughput proteomics from sixteen independent cohorts. Chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing (ChIP-seq) is a widely used technique for identifying transcription-factor binding and histone modifications across the genome. Peaks in ChIP-seq data vary in length depending on the biological context, from narrow transcription factor binding sites to broad histone modification domains. However, commonly used peak-calling tools are tailored to the specific types of data and struggle to consistently handle various peak lengths, datasets of varying quality, and missing control tracks-common issues in comparative or meta-analyses. Ca2+- and voltage-activated BK-type K+ channels are influenced profoundly by associated regulatory subunits, including β subunits (Kcnmb1-4; β1-β4). Although overlap in expression of different BK β subunits occurs in native tissues, whether they can coassemble in the same channel complex is not known. We coexpress β2 and β3a subunits together with BK α and, through a combination of macroscopic and single-channel recordings, along with quantitative pull-down of tagged subunits, test whether coassembly can occur.
