Qualitative analysis of family-centered care experiences, drawn from perspectives of parents, a former neonatal patient, and healthcare professionals, identified 42 distinct outcomes which were categorized into five domains. The five domains, with distinct outcomes, highlight the multidimensional family-centered care including: emotional functioning, role functioning, delivery of care, physiological health, and hospital resources. BACKGROUND: Adalimumab (ADM) in children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is usually dosed using fixed weight-based bands (label dosing: 20 mg for <  30 kg, 40 mg for ≥ 30 kg) every other week (EOW). This has been shown to result in higher exposure after remission than targeted in adult patients with rheumatic diseases (trough concentrations of 2–8 mg/L) suggesting possibility of treatment adjustments and tapering, particularly in children weighing 30 to 50 kg. A pharmacometric simulation study was performed to evaluate different ADM dosing regimens supported by therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) to provide insights for JIA management in remission. METHODS: This simulation study used a previously established pharmacokinetic ADM model. Simulation scenarios included dose reduction to 30 mg in children 30 to 50 kg and interval extension from 14 to 21 or 28 days. To further personalize ADM dosing and avoid exposure above predefined target range, TDM-guided tapering within mentioned simulation scenarios was investigated, i.e., adjusting dosing interval in children and adolescents whose ADM trough concentrations were above the upper limit of the predefined ADM target range of 9 mg/L. Proportions of virtual patients within the extrapolated target exposure range from adults including a safety-margin, i.e., 4–9 mg/L, were assessed and compared to label dosing, stratified by body weight. RESULTS: In children and adolescents with JIA weighing 30 to 50 kg both, dose interval extension to 21 days and dose reduction to 30 mg EOW increased proportion of patients within predefined target range from 17 - 29% (label dose regimen) to 34–43% or 28–43%, respectively. TDM-guided tapering for patients with trough concentrations > 9 mg/L further increased proportion with target exposure to 56–63% while keeping the proportion of patients with trough concentrations <  2 mg/L similar to label dosing (≤ 2%). CONCLUSION: This simulation study suggests that ADM tapering, in children with JIA who reached remission, may be applicable. Appropriate ADM dose reduction or dose interval extension, especially when supported by TDM, could help to reduce treatment-related and socioeconomic burden, while minimize risk of underexposure. Provided simulation framework can be validated and further fine-tuned once paediatric exposure-response data and target ranges have been established.

BACKGROUND: Cysteine-cysteine chemokine receptors 2 (CCR2) and 5 (CCR5) contribute to immune suppression in tumor microenvironments. CCR2 and CCR5 antagonists have demonstrated antitumor activity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) and colorectal cancer (CRC), respectively. This phase 1b/2, open-label study evaluated BMS-813160, a CCR2/5 dual antagonist, in combination with chemotherapy±nivolumab in advanced PDAC or metastatic CRC.

This paper examines the foreign policies of Saudi Arabia and Türkiye towards Hamas. This Islamist group has become a major actor in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in the past decade. This article aims to analyze the two countries’ different approaches in addressing Hamas by capturing the political, ideological, and regional geopolitical factors at play. Using a qualitative approach and desk study method, data is obtained by analyzing official documents, diplomatic statements, and academic literature. This study investigates the efficacy of oral examinations as an alternative assessment method in college algebra courses, focusing on their impact on student retention of mathematical concepts. Through a comparative analysis of two groups, one undergoing traditional assessment and the other receiving oral examinations, this research explores both quantitative assessment scores and qualitative feedback. While quantitative analysis reveals no significant difference in summative assessment performance between the two groups, qualitative data highlights the benefits of oral examinations, including immediate feedback, enhanced critical thinking, and holistic evaluation of student capabilities. As a value-driven and transformative approach to criminal justice, restorative justice is inherently philosophical. Despite this, however, its philosophical underpinnings remain underdeveloped. This manuscript argues for the necessity of grounding restorative justice in moral philosophy, specifically through the framework offered by Martha Nussbaum’s capabilities approach. The paper first addresses the fragmented nature of restorative justice values, suggesting a new uniform framework centered on respect, equality, agency, and active striving. It then explores what victims are materially owed in the restorative justice process, advancing Nussbaum’s list of basic capabilities as a foundation. Standpoint epistemology provides a case in which it would seem that moral reasoning, understood as different from moral theorizing, is not possible due to the epistemological asymmetry present between dominant and marginalized groups. However, I argue that this issue may be bridged through the testimony of the marginalized individual which must then be accepted and respected by their interlocutor, with consciousness-raising being a prerequisite for the giving and reception of this testimony.

Using Fed Funds Futures To Predict A Federal Reserve Rate Hike

This paper demonstrates formulas used by market participants to predict the probability of an increase in the Fed Funds rate and suggests how these formulas can be used in the classroom. Utilizing Fed funds futures contracts, instructors can demonstrate how the market anticipates actions by the Federal Open Market Committee and can give assignments to students to have them calculate the probability of a rate change. This activity can enhance students’ understanding of financial markets, interest rates, and futures contracts and supply students with a useful tool to use in the business world.

The Experience Of U.S. Fulbright Scholars From Business Disciplines: 1998 – 2005

The Fulbright Scholar program provides a long-standing and externally-funded means for internationalizing college and university curriculum. Over the past decade there has been an increasing emphasis on internationalization among faculty, administration and accrediting agencies. This manuscript is drawn from survey data which examines self-reported experiences of recent Fulbright Scholars from business disciplines in AACSBI accredited business programs. An overview of the perceptions and experiences of program participants and an exploratory model identifying factors impacting these experience are presented. Specific policy and process measures to improve the experiences of future Fulbright Scholars are suggested.

AACSB accreditation of an undergraduate business degree program requires that the institution enumerate its learning goals and demonstrate the successful student’s attainment thereof. AACSB mandates that learning goals be both consistent with the institution’s mission statement and measurable. This study describes the AOL process for assuring oral and written communications abilities in the finance major curriculum. Among finance majors, the findings reveal an adequate level of oral communications skills but written communications skills below the appropriate level for the finance professional. We propose that the study of economics can be enhanced by students learning ethical reasoning within their economics courses. Our method for introducing more robust discussions of the relationship between ethics and economics is to incorporate principles and strategies from the “Ethics Across the Curriculum” program. The methods we used to enhance our own course can be adapted to any economics course and the resources we provide can help any economist become more comfortable with teaching ethical reasoning.

Changes In Math Prerequisites And Student Performance In Business Statistics: Do Math Prerequisites Really Matter?

We use a binary probit model to assess the impact of several changes in math prerequisites on student performance in an undergraduate business statistics course. While the initial prerequisites did not necessarily provide students with the necessary math skills, our study, the first to examine the effect of math prerequisite changes, shows that these changes were deleterious to student performance. Our results helped convince the College of Business to change the math prerequisite again beginning with the 2008/2009 academic year. Thus, this study is also the first to actually help strengthen math prerequisites and improve student performance in business statistics.

A Pedagogical Comparison Between The Use Of Instructor-Led In-Class Cases And Student-Led Out-Of-Class Cases

This study compares the attitudes and learning outcomes of students in sections of introductory corporate finance courses. The study was conducted at two different universities. Three sections of the course were taught using the lecture method supplemented with a student-led out-of-class case study project. Three other sections of the course were taught using lecture combined with an instructor-led in-class case study project. The students were given pre-tests and post-tests in each section to determine changes in attitudes and learning. Students in both types of course achieved similar learning outcomes.
