Should you pray when you bleed? More specifically, should a Buddhist woman refrain from chanting and reciting from the Lotus Sutra during her menstrual cycle? This was the query fielded by the fiery prophet Nichiren in 1264 in Kamakura, Japan. Nichiren's response, however, is far more than a doctrinal resolution of an esoteric theological uncertainty. To the contrary, Nichiren's advice is a model of analysis, common sense, and compassion that today's attorneys would be wise to emulate. This Essay discusses the applicability of the U.S. notion of procedural due process of law to the presidential impeachment process within the Brazilian Constitution. It takes a critical approach based on the Inter-American system of human rights protection and includes a comparison with the European human rights model. The analysis is illustrated by means of the Brazilian Federal Senate's impeachment of Dilma Rousseff on August 31, 2016 on charges of having "opened additional lines of credit by presidential decrees, without the authorization of the National Congress," and "(illegally) entering into loan transactions." In the field of biomedical ethics, genetic enhancement—the alteration of human DNA to increase characteristics beyond normal function—is a highly contested topic. Genetic enhancement presents serious ethical issues, especially when gene therapy seeks to treat or prevent disease. This paper makes the consequentialist case that genetic enhancement, whether somatic or germline, is intrinsically unethical because of its ethical, societal, and systemic ramifications. The autonomy of future persons is violated by germline enhancement, which also runs the risk of deepening socioeconomic gaps and escalating intergenerational inequity. Conventional enterprise systems for creating business rules, for example sales compensation plans, can involve manual translation of strategic intent into structured configurations. This process may place a cognitive burden on users. The disclosed technology describes a system employing an orchestrated, multi-agent workflow to assist in this translation. A planning orchestrator agent can receive a user's intent in natural language, deconstruct the goal, and delegate sub-tasks to specialized agents. These agents may perform functions such as knowledge retrieval, parameter synthesis using retrieval-augmented generation, and compliance validation. Certain methods for managing complex business rules, such as those in enterprise performance management, may rely on fragmented tools that can lack the capability to model cross-domain impacts of proposed changes, which can lead to siloed decision-making and manual governance processes. Systems and methods are described that can utilize a multi-agent architecture to provide an interactive simulation environment, or sandbox, for business rule lifecycle management. Reliability verification for generative artificial intelligence models may be constrained by a reliance on post-hoc, token-level analysis, which can be computationally inefficient. Described are systems and methods for a pre-decoding verification architecture that can operate on the internal latent states of a generative model before output tokens are sampled. The architecture can use a hierarchical cascade of checks, for example, beginning with a fast linear classifier, escalating ambiguous inputs to a non-linear density-based evaluator, and routing complex cases to specialized expert models. Marine fisheries are an important source of food and livelihoods globally. However, climate-induced changes in marine ecosystems are affecting fish populations and sustainable fishing opportunities. By combining datasets on climate-driven changes in population distribution and biomass with Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) seafood ecolabel program data, we conduct a large-scale risk analysis of fisheries under a high-emissions scenario by mid-century. Results show that fisheries targeting tuna and billfish face the highest relative risks of management disruption, due to high exposure to stock shifts and higher governance vulnerabilities, followed by small pelagic and demersal fisheries. Adult mammalian hearts exhibit limited regenerative capacity because of the restricted renewal of cardiomyocytes. Recent studies reveal that mammalian hearts exhibit transient regenerative potential within a short time frame after birth, suggesting a regulatory mechanism that prevents adult hearts from initiating a regenerative response to cardiac injury. Here, we discovered that an active form of YAP, named YAP6SA, which is not inhibited by the Hippo signaling pathway and does not interact with TEADs, induces cardiomyocyte cell cycle reentry. In addition, YAP6SA interacts with scaffold protein MPDZ to regulate Rho GTPases and promote cell cycle progression in cardiomyocytes (CMs). Importantly, YAP6SA …

Efficient nitrogen (N) management is essential for sustaining crop productivity while minimizing environmental impacts associated with excessive fertilizer use. Variable-rate application (VRA) offers a precision-based approach to matching N inputs with crop demand, yet winter wheat responses to reduced N rates are still underexplored. This study evaluated winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) performance under variable and uniform N application strategies using canopy greenness (NDVI), grain yield, plant N content, nitrogen use efficiency (NUE), and fertilizer costs as indicators. Reduced N treatments (40% and 60% VRA rates) were compared with a uniform (100%) application. Canopy greenness increased across all treatments over …

While researchers are in agreement about the positive relationship between spiritual activities (SAs) and mental health (MH) among the general population, the relationship between spiritual tourism (ST) and MH, particularly among young adults, is yet to be adequately investigated. As such, this research was conducted to determine the contribution of ST towards the MH of the younger generation. The study aimed to find out the spiritual elements in a series of pilgrimage activities, the views of pilgrims on sacred objects and sacred water, and the motivations of pilgrims who come to Sunan Papak’s holy tomb.
