Performance, Economic And Environmental Evaluation Of A Solar-Assisted Vacuum Deaeration Heating System., Liew Shan Kun

This research evaluates the performance of a solar-assisted heating (SAH) system for makeup water in a vacuum deaeration process. The system integrates solar energy into the heating process, with parametric analysis conducted across varying configuration of total solar radiation and water flow rates. The total solar radiation at the experimental site in Kuala Kangsar, Perak, Malaysia, characterized by tropical weather, fell within the range between 414W/m2 to 568W/m2. Performance analysis showed that a flow rate of 0.4 LPM achieved the target temperature of 61°C required for the deaeration process. Medication non-adherence affects 49% of psychiatric patients and contributes to poor outcomes and increased hospitalizations. At the project site, 40% of patients demonstrated suboptimal adherence and 12 medication-related incidents occurred. Nursing staff lacked specialized training in motivational interviewing and comprehensive adherence assessment. This project developed and implemented an evidence-based educational program to enhance nursing competencies in psychiatric medication adherence counseling. Seven nursing staff members (5 registered nurses, 2 licensed practical nurses) participated in a 90-minute session incorporating the four-domain assessment framework, motivational interviewing techniques, and psychoeducational strategies. Chronic pain frequently coexists with psychiatric conditions, yet nurses often lack formal education on biopsychosocial, trauma-informed, and non-pharmacologic pain management approaches, contributing to fragmented and inequitable care. Environments are becoming increasingly more variable, as a function of climate change. As this occurs, species may be exposed to conditions outside their preferred range. Such variability in the environment can influence community abundance as individual species respond either similarly (synchronous dynamics) or differently (asynchronous dynamics) to each other. These fluctuations in abundances are important for understanding the impact of environmental variability on species temporal fluctuations in aquatic macroinvertebrates. This group of organisms is species-rich and highly sensitive to environmental fluctuations. Cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of mortality worldwide, driven by complex, multi-scale mechanisms that span molecular, cellular, and organ-level dysfunction. Effective therapeutic strategies therefore require integrative approaches that link fundamental biology to translational applications. A staff development project was conducted at a mental health clinic to improve medication adherence among patients. The intervention was an evidence-based presentation on the teach-back method for staff members to educate them about the importance of using the teach-back method for patient teaching to increase medication adherence among mental health patients. Trichomes have been well studied as a physical defense against stress. With climate change, stressors like drought and/or herbivory can have exacerbated effects on crop morpho-physiology. However, the interactive effects of such stressors on physical defenses like trichomes and their effects on herbivores is poorly understood. Rising coastal temperatures and intensity of heatwaves increasing the extremity of flooding events pose growing threats to the health and resilience of coastal communities. Building on recent global compound hazard assessments (Zhou et al., 2024), this study provides a high-resolution analysis of heatwave trends across the Tampa Bay area from 1993 to 2026 using land surface temperatures (LST). To evaluate compound hazards, flood maps were sourced for comparison. LST’s were derived from 30 m Landsat imagery to characterize temperature increases in the region. Major spinal fusion procedures are associated with significant intraoperative blood loss, increasing transfusion exposure, morbidity, and length of hospitalization. Tranexamic acid (TXA) has demonstrated efficacy in reducing blood loss in orthopedic surgery; however, optimal dosing strategies in patients with significant comorbidities remain debated. Emerging evidence supports the use of high-dose TXA when appropriately adjusted for renal function. Background: Postoperative delirium (POD) is an acute disturbance in mental status that typically occurs within the first five postoperative days. Its incidence increases with age, affecting up to 50% of patients over 60. Risk factors include benzodiazepine use, female gender, emergency surgery, and comorbidities such as diabetes and cerebrovascular disease. The development of POD is associated with increased morbidity and prolonged hospital stays.

A 71-year-old Caucasian female underwent a total laparoscopic robotic hysterectomy. Her medical history included anxiety, hypertension, and diabetes. This brief examines low-wage workers' use of DFIs through their ownership of digital trading accounts and investment in several financial assets, including assets that are traditionally more stable as well as newer, nontraditional assets that may carry higher risk, across income levels and employment status. Work arrangements have become increasingly varied in recent years, with much labor-market participation happening outside of traditional full-time roles. As gig work and other forms of self-employment,  contract labor, and part-time positions grow, and work arrangements diversify, employment instability is a growing concern,  especially for low-wage workers. This brief presents original evidence on the use of financial services among low-wage workers in the United States. Data come from the Workforce Economic Inclusion and Mobility (WEIM) survey administered to a nationally representative sample of 2,511 U.S. workers earning less than 250% of the federal poverty line.

Bladder cancer (BC) represents the most prevalent malignancy within the urinary system. Mounting evidence underscores the critical involvement of ferroptosis in cancer pathogenesis; Consequently, this study delves into its molecular underpinnings and therapeutic potential specifically in BC. Methods: We analyzed gene expression profiles from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and the Gene Expression Om-nibus (GEO) repositories. Ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs) were selected from the FerrDb database. Utilizing systematic bioinformatics analyses, we identify differentially expressed and prognostic FRGs and construct an FRGs prognostic model. Background

Cardiac angiosarcomas are rare, with no established treatment guidelines. There is limited reporting of large cardiac angiosarcomas requiring extensive atrial resection and reconstruction, and limited data on outcomes after resection with positive margins.

Case Summary

A 51-year-old man with multiple comorbidities was diagnosed with nonmetastatic 7.1 × 5.6 × 4.9 cm primary cardiac angiosarcoma in the right atrium extending into the superior vena cava. The mass was circumferentially resected with reconstruction of the right atrium using bovine pericardial patch. Histopathology confirmed a grade II spindle cell variant angiosarcoma with positive margins. Subsequent management included chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and radiotherapy …
