Introduction: Pregnant and parenting adolescents (PPA) experience perinatal mental health (PMH) disorders, especially perinatal anxiety (PA) and perinatal depression (PND), 3 - 4 times more in comparison to adult mothers. Despite stylistic musical diversity within the evangelical church, many secular musicians and music fans have little to no desire to participate in corporate worship music. Specifically, those that engage in “countercultural heavy music (CHM);” namely, hard rock, punk rock, and heavy metal. Music that is often played for the purpose of corporate worship in the local church fails to resonate with many musicians in the corresponding local community. BACKGROUND: Patellofemoral instability (PFI) is common in adolescent patients and can lead to a reduction in quality of life and function, as well as long-term arthritis. Treatment of PFI involves assessing and, at times, surgically correcting underlying anatomic abnormalities. Trochlear dysplasia is the most common anatomic risk factor present in PFI.

Accurate preoperative diagnosis of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) is difficult, complicating distinction between septic and aseptic failures. This study assessed the value of common serum biomarkers and three calculated ratios-albumin-globulin ratio (AGR), C-reactive protein-albumin ratio (CAR), and C-reactive protein-AGR ratio (CAGR)-in diagnosing PJI after primary total hip arthroplasty (THA). We retrospectively reviewed patients undergoing revision THA for PJI or aseptic failure from 2011 to 2021 at a single institution. Inclusion required reported serum white blood cell count (WBC), C-reactive protein (CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), albumin (Alb), and total protein (TP). The modern courtroom can become a battleground between two epistemologies: the adversarial logic of law and the empirical rigor of science. Using a case involving a neuropsychological exam under Washington Civil Rule 35, this Article explores the tension between these traditions. While medicine embraced the Scientific Revolution, law remains tethered to its medieval Scholastic roots. The Article argues for humility and integration of evidence-based reasoning within the adversarial process.

The Employment Situation Of Veterans: January 2026, Institute For Veterans And Military Families At Syracuse University

Institute for Veterans and Military Families

The January 2026 BLS data show U.S. employment rose by 130,000, with unemployment holding at 4.3%. Veteran unemployment increased from 3.9% to 4.5%, and Post‑9/11 veteran unemployment rose to 5.8%. Trends varied by demographic group: young veterans (18–24) saw improvement, while veterans 45–54 experienced a sharp rise. Female veteran unemployment climbed notably to 5.8%. Black veterans saw unemployment rise to 8.3%, while Hispanic veteran unemployment dropped to 2.1%. Overall, veterans experienced greater volatility than nonveterans across age, gender, and racial groups.

Background While awareness of Fibromyalgia (FM) has evolved across healthcare and social settings, individuals with FM continue reporting poor understanding of their condition in the everyday. Objective To explore the lived experiences and subjective illness narratives of individuals with FM, focusing on personal understandings of FM, outlook on healthcare, and perceived attitudes of surrounding peers. Introduction: The observation of the lunar crescent is significant in astronomy, cultural traditions, and religious lunar calendar determinations. However, earth-based imaging that captures all lunar phases, particularly the new crescent across multiple months, remains limited. This study explores the feasibility of using artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to detect and analyze the birth of the new lunar crescent using space-borne imagery from NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO), spanning over 13 years. Glaucoma, long considered an ocular-limited, age-dependent and hypoxia-driven neurodegeneration, is here reframed as a systemic erythroid-inosine axis failure that originates in the bone marrow yet culminates in retinal ganglion cell (RGC) death. By mining UK Biobank datasets (n = 127,028) and validating our findings in an independent clinical cohort (n = 178), we reveal that glaucoma is preceded by dyserythropoiesis and a compensatory, AMPK-driven metabolic rewiring of mature erythrocytes that hypercatabolizes inosine to enhance oxygen unloading. This adaptation collapses when accelerated erythrocyte inosine metabolism drains systemic pools, starving high-energy demand hematopoietic progenitors, driving retinal microenvironment hypoxia and accelerating RGC loss. …

Oral health is a vital aspect of overall health and wellbeing, yet individuals experiencing homelessness often bear a disproportionate burden of poor oral health and its consequences. This paper explores how community engagement and equity-oriented research can be powerful and complementary tools to inform and enhance evidence-based service design for these patients. We present illustrative examples from both the United Kingdom and international contexts. Oxaliplatin is a platinum-based alkylating chemotherapeutic agent used for cancer treatment. At high cumulative dosage, the negative effect of oxaliplatin on the heart becomes evident and is linked to a growing number of clinical reports. The aim of this study was to determine how chronic oxaliplatin treatment causes the changes in energy-related metabolic activity in the heart that leads to cardiotoxicity and heart damage in mice. C57BL/6 male mice were treated with a human equivalent dosage of intraperitoneal oxaliplatin (0 and 10 mg/kg) once a week for eight weeks. Landlord commenced a squatter summary proceeding against tenant to recover possession of storage space located off a public hallway in a building where tenant lives in a rent-stabilized apartment. The Civil Court awarded possession to the landlord. On appeal, the Appellate Term reversed, finding that the landlord's implicit acquiescence to the tenant's use of the storage space for at least 10 years, when the apartment was covered under the Loft Law, made the provision of the storage space a required service under rent stabilization. In this nonpayment proceeding, the court granted the tenant's motion for summary judgment and dismissed the petition. The tenant argued that the landlord was barred from collecting rent under Multiple Dwelling Law § 302 because the building was occupied in violation of its certificate of occupancy. A DOB/ECB violation existed for unlawful use of another apartment for psychic readings during the period for which rent was sought. The court found that MDL § 302 applies strictly, precluding retroactive rent collection during the period of violation, even if the landlord was not at fault and attempted to cure.

Quantum computing is a form of computation that uses the principles of quantum mechanics to perform mathematical computations at a faster rate than classical computers. Although quantum computing is currently still in its early stages, if a general-purpose, large-scale, and fault-tolerant quantum computer were to be built, it would jeopardize the security of modern public-key cryptosystems. If these cryptosystems were broken, secure connections could not be authenticated, enabling Man-in-the-Middle (MitM) attacks, and digital messages could not be signed. This quantitative correlational research study explored whether burnout (BO) is correlated with perceived organizational support (POS) in special education teachers (SETs) working with moderate to severe disabilities (MSDs) students during distress, and whether spirituality moderates the correlation. SETs working with MSD students face a heightened risk of BO, yet there is little literature exploring how organizational or spiritual resources help. This qualitative study investigates communication barriers in post-pandemic rural K-12 education, emphasizing how the shift from traditional classrooms to COVID-19 virtual environments altered interactions among teachers, students, parents, and administrators. The literature review draws on transactional distance theory and computer-mediated communication, supported by related theories addressing digital inequality, communicative noise, and classroom norm breakdowns.
