I Don’T Remember: Measuring The Frequency And Impact Of Source Recall In Misinformation Correction, Emily K. Vraga, Leticia Bode

Newhouse Impact Journal

It is broadly established that source cues matter for establishing information credibility (Pornpitakpan, 2004). Therefore, it is hardly surprising that when thinking about methods to address and correct misinformation, many scholars have pointed to the importance of source cues (Cook et al., 2017; Lewandowsky & van der Linden, 2021; Literat et al., 2021; Shen et al., 2019). Building Better Voters? Using Ai To Develop Civic Skills, Emily Sydnor

Newhouse Impact Journal

Generative AI offers an opportunity for people to build a variety of civic skills outside of the traditional K-12 education system. In this paper, I test an AI chatbot's ability to provide me with relevant candidate and procedural information in advance of the 2025 Virginia gubernatorial elections. While the experience was overwhelmingly positive and could easily be adapted for naturalized citizens or American adults moving from state to state or to a new locality, it also highlights concerns about the possibility of hallucinations and reinforcement of existing inequalities in politics and society.
