West Nile virus (WNV) remains a persistent public health concern in New Jersey, yet current pooled-mosquito PCR surveillance often detects viral activity only after significant amplification, narrowing the window for timely intervention. Molecular xenomonitoring (MX), which is the detection of viral RNA in mosquito excreta or saliva deposited on honey-baited FTA cards, offers a non-destructive alternative that preserves nucleic acids at room temperature, passively captures signals from hundreds of mosquitoes per card, and has the potential to detect WNV circulation earlier than conventional surveillance by continuously sampling mosquito activity without the need for lethal collection. Introduction

This study aims to characterize patients undergoing solid organ transplants (heart, lung, liver, and kidney) who utilize crowdfunding platforms, including GoFundMe, by examining their financial needs, goals, and the characteristics that make certain fundraisers more successful.

Methods

GoFundMe fundraisers were the respective terms “heart,” “lung,” “liver” and “kidney transplant.” Details were collected about fundraisers in America including monetary status, beneficiary demographics, and campaign characteristics. Single-variable analysis was used to assess factors contributing to extremely successful (≥70%), successful (≥50%), and unsuccessful fundraisers (≤25% of funding goal).

Results

1324 campaigns met inclusion criteria. The majority of beneficiaries described in fundraisers were …

Continuously-operating microphones on wearable computing devices (e.g., a smartwatch, augmented reality glasses, smart ring, etc.) may present challenges related to power consumption and user privacy, as well as difficulty in distinguishing a wearer's speech from ambient sounds. A disclosed technique can address these challenges through a bimodal sensing approach that concurrently analyzes air-conducted acoustic signals from a microphone and body-conducted kinetic signals from a motion sensor, such as an accelerometer or gyroscope. Performing root cause analysis for cross-domain issues, such as cascading failures in complex, fragmented software ecosystems, can be challenging due to siloed data and technical complexity. To address this, a hierarchical multi-agent orchestration architecture is described. The system can utilize a central orchestrator agent (OA) that receives a diagnostic query, decomposes it into sub-hypotheses, and dynamically routes these tasks to specialized subject matter expert (SME) agents. Each SME agent can be configured with domain-specific knowledge and tools to investigate its assigned task. The late Robert S. Freeman (1935–2022) was a pianist, conductor, and musicologist, but most of all a major administrator in the field of higher education in music: the director of the University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music (for twenty-four years), president of the New England Conservatory, and, finally, dean of the College of Fine Arts at the University of Texas (Austin). The present book was intended by Freeman to draw together a number of arguments and suggestions—his own and those of notable American figures in American musical life—that aim at reviving the American symphony orchestra.
