In 2020, we curated a bibliography about applying feminist pedagogical principles to online and hybrid learning environments in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The bibliography demonstrated that feminist educators, though largely unobserved in the national discourse around online learning, were already in conversation about how to apply feminist pedagogy online. This initial bibliography would later become the foundation of the Feminist Pedagogy for Teaching Online Guide, a digital humanities recovery project that has had lasting implications on our classrooms, communities, and teaching philosophies. This Original Teaching Activity explains the details behind an archival assignment in an English graduate seminar, Archiving Women Writers. The assignment, titled Personal Archive Curation and Presentation, invited graduate students to act as archivists--creating their own collections of materials that represented their lives for a specific audience, context, and purpose of their own selection. These curations inspired insightful discussions about digital and physical archives, as well as whom we archive and how we archive them.

This article presents a pedagogical approach for introducing literature students to digital manuscripts and editorial processes through hands-on engagement with archival materials. The teaching activity centers on May Alcott Nieriker's essay "London Bridges," using four different versions of the text—two handwritten manuscripts, one nineteenth-century periodical publication, and one contemporary republication—to illuminate how editorial decisions shape literary canons and student learning. The four-part assignment integrates literary analysis, manuscript transcription, variant identification, and editorial decision-making to help students understand the material conditions that determine which texts survive and become part of academic curricula. In Roopika Risam (New Digital Worlds, 2018) and Lauren Klein and Catherine D’Ignazio’s (Data Feminisms, 2020) recent work, they call for more attention to the intersecting relationships between feminist practice, content, and technical specifications through an awareness of the ways the design and implementation of technology can exclude and objectify people. In response to this, we introduce a special issue on teaching digital recovery in the classroom, with a focus on recovering women writers of America through digital projects.

When a problem erupts between two states, interstate compacts provide a solution without the need for a nationwide decision. Rather than waiting for federal consensus, the states can, with Congressional approval, compact to solve their problems. However, the Supreme Court’s decision in Texas v. New Mexico (Texas II) has threatened interstate compacts, ignored principles of federalism, and overextended its original jurisdiction. It has allowed the United States to force Texas and New Mexico to keep fighting over a compact, even when the states have resolved their issues on their own.

The United States accounts for about 25% of the world’s prisoners but only about 5% of its population. It has the fifth- highest imprisonment rate—higher than China and Russia—with people of color disproportionately impacted. This racialized mass incarceration, and the lack of political will to meaningfully address it, demands bold remedies. Certainly, sentencing reform for low-level, non-violent offenders is needed, but contrary to popular belief, these offenders are not driving mass incarceration. Instead, the problem largely results from increasingly long sentences for violent offenders.

Ruptured Sinus Of Valsalva Aneurysm In A Patient With Mixed Connective Tissue Disease: Case Report, Kenzo Adhi Wiranata, Pramadya Vardhani Mustafiza, Enrico Ananda Budiono

Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm is a rare cardiac anomaly, affecting approximately 0.09% of the population. Its rupture represents a life-threatening event that can rapidly lead to heart failure. We report a 32-year-old woman with mixed connective tissue disease presenting with right-sided heart failure. Echocardiography demonstrated a ruptured right coronary cusp sinus of valsalva aneurysm into the right ventricle with moderate aortic regurgitation. Surgical repair was successfully performed, and histopathology supported an autoimmune-mediated etiology. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of ruptured sinus of valsalva aneurysm occurring in a patient with autoimmune mixed connective tissue disease.

This qualitative study used reflexive thematic analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2006) to explore how the Adultspan Journal Fellowship Program, a structured, cohort-based mentorship initiative, supports the development of doctoral students and early-career counselor educators. Grounded in Social Learning Theory, the program integrates hands-on journal management, guided peer review, collaborative writing, and monthly didactic sessions within multi-layered mentorship. Data from asynchronous email interviews and document analysis with seven fellows across two cohorts (2022–2024) yielded four themes: (1) Cultivating Belonging Through Structured Mentorship, highlighting affirming guidance that reduced isolation and built peer networks; (2) Building Confidence and Professional Identity, reflecting growth in …

Compositionally complex (Hf,Ti,Zr,W)B₂/(Hf,Ti,Zr,W)C-based ceramics were produced with different boride and carbide phase contents by varying the C/B₄C molar ratio used in boro/carbothermal reduction. A monoboride phase based on WB was detected in all compositions. As the C/B₄C ratio was varied, the WB content decreased from 23.7 vol% for a C/B₄C ratio of 6.0–15.3 vol% for a C/B₄C ratio of 10.3. Further increases in the C/B₄C ratio increased the WB content. The monoboride phase contained mainly W and Ti in a solid solution with the nominal composition of (W …

Math anxiety represents a substantial barrier to many students’ math learning. In this paper, we apply interdisciplinary perspectives to data on over 13,200 ninth graders and their math teachers from the High School Longitudinal Study. Results suggest that being perceived as dis/abled relates to heightened math anxiety regardless of adolescents’ gender, or race and ethnicity. Our intersectional approach reveals that adolescents’ expressions of math anxiety do not always correspond with gender, racial, and ethnic stereotypes, with Black girls, Black boys, and Latine boys expressing relatively low levels of math anxiety. Alkali-activated materials have emerged as promising low-carbon alternatives to ordinary Portland cement-based binders; however, their practical application is strictly limited by rapid setting and poor workability. To address these challenges, this study proposes an evaluation methodology combining setting time measurement, cloud point tests for chemical stability, and wide-range rheological analysis. While conventional superplasticizers like polycarboxylate ether (PCE) proved unstable in high-alkaline environments, cloud point tests revealed that polynaphthalene sulfonate (PNS) and butyl acrylate (BA) exhibited superior chemical stability. Notably, BA was identified as a novel and effective dispersant in 3.5 M KOH-activated systems, reducing yield stress of fresh mortar by …

Inactive glucoraphanin (GR) in broccoli is converted to the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-bacterial sulforaphane (SF) by cruciferous vegetable enzyme myrosinase (Myr), or similar enzymes from specific gut bacteria; both sources have variable efficiency. The effects of exogenous Myr on the conversion efficiency of GR to SF was compared to gut microbial Myr-like activity. In a randomized, double-blind, crossover study, sixteen subjects (9 F: 7 M) received a single oral dose of GR in broccoli seed extract with Myr-containing mustard seed powder, or broccoli seed extract alone, both with ascorbic acid. GR + Myr, on average, doubled the bioavailability of SF …

The shoulder may be an effective central site for continuous oxygen saturation (SpO2) monitoring but studies of shoulder-mounted pulse oximetry technology are limited. We hypothesized that an alternative location would be similar in function and user acceptance to a standard FDA-cleared finger-based pulse oximeter. We conducted a quantitative and descriptive pilot study of two prototype biosensor designs in patients with clinical suspicion of hypoxic episodes at an outpatient sleep center. Participants wore two prototype biosensors-the primary a shoulder-mounted adhesive and the secondary a combination ring-bracelet-in addition to a control FDA-approved finger-based pulse oximeter.
