High-Amplitude Delta Waves With Multifocal Spikes: Characteristic Eeg Pattern In Angelman Syndrome, Ozge Kucur, Ulkuhan Oztoprak, Erhan Aksoy, Naz Guleray Lafci, Deniz Yüksel

Journal of Pediatric Epilepsy

Background: Angelman syndrome (AS) is a neurogenetic disorder caused by loss of UBE3A gene function on maternal chromosome 15, characterized by developmental delay, intellectual disability, severe speech impairment, microcephaly, epilepsy, ataxia, and involuntary movements. Early diagnosis is often challenging as typical clinical findings may not be apparent before age 2 years. Current guidelines emphasize the importance of early genetic testing. Case Presentation: We report an eight-month-old female presenting with involuntary movements of the head and extremities. Video-EEG at one year of age showed high-amplitude generalized delta waves (1-4 Hz) with superimposed multifocal spikes and sharp waves, consistent with the characteristic …

A Bedside Screening Tool For Acute Intracranial Hemorrhages In Intubated Children Using Continuous Quantitative Eeg Monitoring, Runi Tanna, Edilberto Amorim, Mauro Caffarelli

Journal of Pediatric Epilepsy

Inroduction: Recognition of intracranial hemorrhage is challenging in children who require deep sedation to tolerate mechanical ventilation. The Correlate of Injury to the Nervous system (COIN) index may enable real-time recognition of intracranial hemorrhage at bedside. Methods: Retrospective analysis of EEG data from children with spontaneous intracranial hemorrhage while intubated and sedated in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Patients were selected for having normal head imaging at time of EEG start and required demonstration of hemorrhage on repeat imaging following an uninterrupted period of EEG recording. Power spectrum data were analyzed to yield a COIN value and visualization for every …

Bit-Packed Prime Sieve: Optimization Via Mod-6 Wheel Factorization And Byte Alignment, Priyesh Padmavilasom Feb 2026

Bit-Packed Prime Sieve: Optimization Via Mod-6 Wheel Factorization And Byte Alignment, Priyesh Padmavilasom

Defensive Publications Series

Ideally, a prime sieve should minimize memory footprint and computational overhead. Using a mod-6 wheel (numbers of the form 6n±1) reduces the search space (mod-6 eliminates multiples of 2 and 3).

This paper presents a bit-packed sieve algorithm that maps four mod-6 residual pairs into a single byte, effectively compressing 24 integers into 8 bits of storage. We examine the recurring bit patterns inherent in this mapping and provide algorithms for the sieve. Leveraging this byte alignment, we introduce a computational optimization for determining the sieve start index (p^2), utilizing the number-theoretic property that for any prime p > 3, p^2 …

Llm-Powered Diagnostic Insights For Business Messaging Via Rich Communication Services, Tania Pradeep Gandhe Feb 2026

Llm-Powered Diagnostic Insights For Business Messaging Via Rich Communication Services, Tania Pradeep Gandhe

Defensive Publications Series

Managing Rich Communication Services (RCS) in the context of business messaging campaigns involves navigating complex asynchronous message states, technical error codes, and delivery telemetry across diverse regions. Businesses that use RCS struggle to interpret raw logs which leads to increased support tickets for the provider and delays in troubleshooting. This disclosure describes techniques that address insight gaps that appear between observed errors and their root causes in tools that manage RCS for Business Messaging (RBM). Rather than simply report an error code, a large language model (LLM) is used to determine and display the likely root causes of the error. …

Collaborative Learning In Clinical Education As A Catalyst To Support Foundational Professional Competencies In Speech-Language Pathology: A Theoretical Framework, Lori-Ann Ferraro

Teaching and Learning in Communication Sciences & Disorders

As a part of every speech-language pathology graduate program in the US, clinical education is an integral and required element for both academic accreditation and the eventual clinical certification for students. Clinical education is significantly important when considering overall educational models because it is an aspect of a student’s education that contributes to their ability to make connections between what is learned in the classroom and its real-world clinical application while contributing to the acquisition of competencies. The 2:1 collaborative learning model is supported by sound learning theories and evidence from the literature. A theoretical framework was created to demonstrate …

Developing Critical Thinking Skills In Undergraduate Csd Students Through A Case Study Project, Lydia R. Kruse, Windi Krok

Teaching and Learning in Communication Sciences & Disorders

Critical thinking skills are crucial for Speech-Language Pathologists to effectively assess, diagnose, and treat communication disorders. However, the optimal timing for teaching these skills to future clinicians remains an open question. Most of the current research is focused on developing critical thinking skills in graduate students, though there is some evidence to suggest that students should be working to develop critical thinking skills during their undergraduate education. This work describes the critical thinking skills demonstrated by undergraduate students in a Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD program) through a case study project, as well as their self-perceptions. Results indicate relative weakness …
