Jewelry is adornment—adornment that has “spawned cultural movements, launched political dynasties, and even started wars.”1This Article will analyze the application of Section 43(a) of the Lanham Act, which covers trade dress, to jewelry design. Trade dress law is a powerful tool for designers because it regulates the protection of designs rather than words. Despite this strength, trade dress has not been analyzed in the context of the jewelry industry because legal academics have dismissed jewelry as an accessory to fashion law. This research analyzes the symbolism of colors and shapes used by dancers. The research results show that each element of clothing has a deep philosophical meaning, reflecting the noble values of the Banyuwangi people and the universe. The Jaripah dance is a traditional dance that has deep cultural and philosophical values, which are reflected in the design and use of the costumes. This study aims to visualize the concept of the five stages of grief into acrylic paintings on canvas and to analyze the relationship between visual elements and emotional expression. The concept, introduced by Kübler-Ross, consists of five stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. The study employs Alma Hawkins’ art creation method, which includes exploration, improvisation, and formation. The exploration stage involves literature review, visual reference analysis, and interviews with participants. LGBT identities are often perceived as deviant within society; however, their representation has increasingly appeared across various media, including films, novels, and music. This study examines the representation of bisexuality in Avatar: The Rise of Kyoshi by F. C. Yee*. The data are drawn from narrative elements that reflect bisexual themes and are analyzed using Stuart Hall’s theory of representation, supported by Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick’s concept of homosocial desire. The findings show that bisexuality is represented through Kyoshi’s relationships with two characters: Yun (male) and Rangi (female). These relationships develop through three phases: heterosexual, homosocial, and homosexual. The interaction between …

Regulation Of Zygotic Genome Activation By The Nucleocytoplasmic Ratio, Lily Acker, Hui Chen

During early development, embryos undergo the maternal-to-zygotic transition (MZT), when control of development shifts from maternal factors to the newly activated zygotic genome. Decades of studies in various model organisms suggest that the nucleocytoplasmic (N/C) ratio is a key regulator of zygotic genome activation (ZGA), though this relationship is more nuanced in some organisms than others. Changing the nuclear content, nucleus size or cell size has been shown to shift the timing of ZGA. Mechanistically, the N/C ratio is linked to fundamental cellular processes that regulate genome activities, including nuclear import, repressor titration, activator accumulation, cell cycle lengthening, and chromatin …

In the 13th century, under the leadership of Genghis Khan, the Mongol Empire emerged where alcohol was not merely a consumable item but a multifaceted and functional cultural practice integral to the construction of political legitimacy, the establishment of social order, and the performance of ritual representations. For the nomadic Mongols, alcohol consumption transcended personal habit, playing a central role in regulating social relations, strengthening leadership, and consolidating political alliances. This paper develops the algorithmic and dynamical foundations of recursive ensemble learning driven by Fibonacci-type update flows. In contrast with classical boosting Freund and Schapire (1997); Friedman (2001), where the ensemble evolves through first-order additive updates, we study second-order recursive architectures in which each predictor depends on its two immediate predecessors. These Fibonacci flows induce a learning dynamic with memory, allowing ensembles to integrate past structure while adapting to new residual information. We introduce a general family of recursive weight-update algorithms encompassing Fibonacci, tribonacci, and higher-order recursions, together with continuous-time limits that yield systems of differential equations governing ensemble evolution. …

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have become an effective tool for forest fire monitoring. This study evaluates UAVs for forest fire management, addressing the challenges posed by ambiguous and uncertain factors. Single-valued neutrosophic sets (SVNSs) are employed to model complex uncertainties, as they incorporate three distinct membership values: false, true, and indeterminate. The evaluation of UAVs is a multifaceted task due to the variety of factors involved. To address this complexity, multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods are used. Necrotizing fasciitis (NF) is a rare but life-threatening soft tissue infection characterized by rapid progression, systemic toxicity, and high mortality. While Group A Streptococcus is the most common pathogen, Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an uncommon cause, typically reported in immunocompromised patients.

We present the case of a 77-year-old male with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), chronic kidney disease, and other comorbidities who initially presented to an outside facility with three days of fever and left lower extremity pain. He was admitted with presumed cellulitis, and blood cultures grew Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Despite appropriate antibiotic therapy with vancomycin and ceftriaxone, the patient developed …

Biological threats present unique challenges to traditional deterrence models due to their dual-use nature, difficulties in attribution, and rapidly evolving scientific landscape. In this commentary, the authors argue that deterrence by denial, while essential, is insufficient on its own to address contemporary biothreats. They propose a broader framework that integrates deterrence by disruption and capability diminishment to interfere with and reduce adversaries’ ability to develop and employ biological weapons. Hypertension is one of the non-communicable diseases in Indonesia that is closely related to obesity. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the association between central obesity and hypertension in a cohort study group in Bogor City, West Java from 2011 to 2021. A retrospective cohort study design was employed, with multivariate Cox regression analysis performed using secondary data from the Risk Factors for Non-Communicable Diseases (FRPTM) Cohort Study. Among 3,586 samples, 879 incident cases of hypertension were observed by the end of follow-up, accounting for 24.5% of the at-risk population. Acknowledging their contribution, we offer two points of pushback and one point of extension based on those areas of pushback. This study examines the historical impact and representation of the Hephthalites in the context of the Vahaneanc uprising (482-484), a Christian rebellion against Sasanian rule in South Caucasia, as described in the work of Ğazar Pʿarpetsʿi, a 5th-century Armenian historian. Pʿarpetsʿi’s records of the events have been evaluated in comparison with other primary historical sources and attempted to be understood within the historical context of the period.
