Humboldt In The Time Of Covid Written Component/Reflection, Malia Denise Haley

Humboldt in the Time of COVID - Digital Archive

I have submitted 6 recorded interviews to the archive, and this is the written component. It's a both reflection and breakdown of what was said during the interviews. Interviews were conducted with Jennifer Tarlton (professor with the environmental science department), Yvonne Everett (professor with the environmental science department), Emily Ortzow (Environmental Science major), Greta Wassersleben (Environmental Science major), Tara Caso (former student at HSU, pursuing PhD in Cellular Molecular Biology at UC Davis), and Brianna King (former student at HSU, Biological Anthropology major, currently working in her field). They were individual interviews, during which we reflected on the impacts of …

Dosimetric Simulation Of A Talbot-Lau X-Ray Interferometry System For Medical Diagnostic Radiography, Charles A. Zimmerman May 2022

Dosimetric Simulation Of A Talbot-Lau X-Ray Interferometry System For Medical Diagnostic Radiography, Charles A. Zimmerman

LSU Master's Theses

Purpose: Lung cancer and other pulmonary disease is typically diagnosed by means of X-ray imaging, such as conventional radiography and computed tomography (CT). However, these modalities are not ideal for lung imaging due to their poor soft tissue contrast and the microscopic nature of early-stage disease. Diagnosis of lung disease could potentially be improved by an imaging modality which is as convenient and low-dose as current X-ray imaging, but provides better visualization of lung tissue.

Methods: We are developing chest radiography and CT systems for medical imaging which use a triple-grating Talbot-Lau X-ray interferometry (TLXI) design to extract dark-field and …

Measuring Agricultural Competitiveness: The Case Of U.S. Rice Exports, Estela Barahona May 2022

Measuring Agricultural Competitiveness: The Case Of U.S. Rice Exports, Estela Barahona

LSU Master's Theses

The United States is known for being one of the world’s largest rice exporters. Rice from the United States is exported to more than 130 nations and territories on all continents. The world rice market accounts for around 50 percent of the U.S. rice yearly sales volume. Even though the U.S. produces less than 2 percent of global rice, exports are significant to its rice industry. Given the various factors that determine trade (e.g., production, distance, income, and trade agreements), theory suggests that the impact of factors on the U.S. agricultural trade will vary according to commodity and country. There …

Trusted Holochain Networks, Niranjan M M May 2022

Trusted Holochain Networks, Niranjan M M

Defensive Publications Series

Holochain combines hashing, digital signatures, and Distributed Hash Tables (DHTs) to form a tamper-proof distributed ledger. Holochain uses digital signatures for authenticity and ownership of the data, which uses dual-key (public key-private key pair) cryptography. Each hash-chain entry is cryptographically signed and in multi-party interactions, like transactions, it is mutually counter-signed by both the parties. Currently Holochain systems uses Distributed Public Key Infrastructure (DPKI) to generate keys of various types i.e., revocation, identity, encryption, signing. But there are no existing techniques which consider using TPM (for hardware) or vTPM (for software/virtual) to generate private key and public key pair required …
