Graphene’s remarkable electrical, optical, and chemical properties make it a promising successor to indium tin oxide for applications in flexible, transparent electronics. However, efforts to manufacture graphene have been hindered by inefficient synthesis and transfer methods. Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is commonly used to produce graphene. CVD starts with a blank surface onto which a chemical vapor is deposited to create a single graphene layer. CVD requires extreme temperatures, so only substrates with high melting points are applicable, like metals. This excludes insulative substrates such as polymers which are essential to transparent and flexible devices. Therefore, a subsequent process transfers …

Understanding which characteristics impact Americans' position and fears towards immigrants will generate an understanding of what drives and unleashes fear-driven behavior on immigrant populations. One particular area of public perception towards immigrants that gets a high degree of political debate is immigrants' impact on the economy. This paper will evaluate the relationship between a person's social-economic status, age, and education level towards the perception that immigrants are negatively impacting and draining the American economy. Whether it be Hollywood faking the moon landing to government involvement in the 9/11 attacks on the twin towers, there has always been a subsection of the population who believes larger relevant forces are at work. As humanity moves towards a more digital existence, conspiracy theorists also have advanced; enter Qanon. This paper will attempt to deduce the correlation between members of the Qanon community and what external factors could drive one to this belief. However, this is not always the case, and the rise of social media news has brought new levels of fear and distrust into the polls. Virtual Book Club: Impactful Library Programming At A Distance Through Co-Curricular Collaboration, Jessica Szempruch, Katrina I. Hinds

This article presents the University of South Florida’s Virtual Book Club, created and continually improved during a time of social isolation (COVID-19 pandemic). Implementation steps taken are discussed, presenting practical considerations to others who may wish to replicate this program. Additionally, this article explores findings from a program evaluation survey. Through engagement with the club, students reported enhanced feelings of connection, as well as improved learning outcomes. Authors posit that meaningful cross-campus collaboration can lead to positive community outreach, facilitate deep engagement, and build community regardless of distance.

Sexual violence has been a global health concern for over decades, but activism on social media such as #MeToo has increased public discourse and awareness about this issue. In its early advent, the #MeToo movement raised ample awareness, stimulated free discourse, and placed this issue as an important concern to address. Special education law is complex and ever-changing. Despite receiving a formal education, beginning special education teachers often lack the knowledge of these policies and procedures, as well as any updated provisions relating to these laws (Brookshire & Klotz, 2002). All cyanobacteria, which perform oxygenic photosynthesis on Earth, contain the photosynthetic pigment chlorophyll a (Chl a) that absorbs light in the violet and red region of the visible spectrum. Cyanobacteria of the Acaryochloris species, however, contain the rare photosynthetic pigment chlorophyll d (Chl d) that absorbs light in the far-red region. Chl d’s ability to absorb light in this region allows it to avoid competing with other photosynthetic organisms for light. Creating a photosystem that uses Chl d in plants would be of great use for agricultural land optimization, but requires knowledge of the biosynthetic pathways of …

In 2008, Galveston Island was severely impacted by Hurricane Ike, resulting in high salt deposition in the soil and groundwater. This caused a loss of many native plant species. A study was initiated to determine effective ways to promote the growth conditions of three bald cypress genotypes (Taxodium distichum var distichum and Taxodium distichum var mexicanum crosses) in salt-affected soils. The treatments applied were mycorrhizae inoculation, fertilizer application, and a combination of mycorrhizae inoculation and fertilizer application. The Feasibility Of Remote Brief Mindfulness Training And Impact On Anxiety-Related Attention Bias, Hanna Culang

Brief mindfulness training (BMT) improves anxiety and the allocation of attentional resources. Whether BMT can remediate disruptions in attention associated with anxiety, such as anxiety-related attention bias (AB), remains unclear. This experimental study revealed that BMT significantly improved subjective state mindfulness and state anxiety, but did not influence AB.
