The present study investigated the impact using the online learning platform Pear Deck had on an online high school math class. The study measured student engagement, academic achievement, and students’ overall satisfaction with using the online learning platform. The participants in this study were online Algebra 2 students. The study was conducted during synchronous online lessons using an online learning system. Data was collected from two different live classes. One class used the online learning platform Pear Deck and the other did not. Engagement was measured by charting the number of student responses for each question posed. The Effect Of Increased And Varied Vocabulary Instruction On Science Content Acquisition, Emmelyn King

This action research investigated the relationship between studying scientific vocabulary and overall success in a given science content area. A mini-unit covering common words and word parts in scientific vocabulary was conducted. Students were then provided with a variety of vocabulary strategies in subsequent units, including an emphasis on reading, language, writing, and visual approaches. The impact on student learning and retention of the material was measured quantitatively using assessments and qualitatively through a student survey. The participants involved were eleventh- and twelfth-grade anatomy students in a rural K-12 school setting.

The purpose of this qualitative single case study was to explore how nursing faculty described strategies for teaching professionalism, across the curriculum, to pre-licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students at one college in the Midwest. It was not known how nursing faculty described developed strategies. This study was supported by two core theoretical foundations: Miller's Wheel of Professionalism in Nursing model (Miller, 1988) and Benner's Novice to Expert Nurse concept (Benner, 2001). Anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis is a progressively debilitating, clinically heterogeneous, frequently fatal disease caused by autoantibodies directed against the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor that affects 1 in 1.5 million people each year. Risk of misdiagnosis or delayed treatment is high due to variable presentations and potential false negative results.

Introduction: Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection has been associated with myocarditis. The novel mRNA vaccines, BNT162b2 and mRNA-1273, that encode the SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein have shown to be a safe combatant to the pandemic. Myocarditis has become a rare, newly recognized complication of the SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccinations. The mechanism remains unknown, but multiple have been proposed. Case description: A 24-year-old healthy Caucasian female presented to the hospital with acute chest pain. Gene Ontology (GO) is widely used in the biological domain. It is the most comprehensive ontology providing formal representation of gene functions (GO concepts) and relations between them. Segmental arterial mediolysis (SAM) is a rare vasculopathy of unknown etiology characterized by disruption of the arterial layer, which can result in vessel dissection, hemorrhage and ischemia. Literature review has demonstrated a varied presentation ranging from benign abdominal pain to life threatening hemorrhage. We report a case of 58 year old female with past medical history of deep vein thrombosis/pulmonary embolism secondary to Protein C and S deficiency on Coumadin who presented with right flank pain for 3 days. A national 2017 vector control capacity survey was conducted to assess the United States’ (U.S.’s) ability to prevent emerging vector-borne disease. Since that survey, the southeastern U.S. has experienced continued autochthonous exotic vector-borne disease transmission and establishment of invasive vector species. To understand the current gaps in control programs and establish a baseline to evaluate future vector control efforts for this vulnerable region, a focused needs assessment survey was conducted in early 2020. It was found during this review that 4% of adolescents, living in western countries, lose a parent before the age of 18 years old (Andriessen, Mowll et al., 2018). While familial emotional closeness has been linked to older-adult well-being, there is still a lack of research investigating the influence of ideological agreement between family members. Background: Cyclosporine is an immunosuppressive agent used to treat immune-mediated and inflammatory diseases in dogs. We have developed a pharmacodynamic (PD) assay that measures interleukin-2 (IL-2) produced by activated T cells to measure the immunosuppressive effects of cyclosporine. Hypothesis/objectives: Our retrospective study extracted data from samples submitted to our laboratory to obtain descriptive statistics, to determine whether assay results predicted treatment effectiveness, and to determine whether cyclosporine formulation or breed affected PD responses.
