Spiritual Outcomes Of A Faith-Based Camp Program For Children Of Incarcerated Parents, Raquel T. Ellis, Krystal Hays, Jeff Hamilton, Lemesis J. Reyes May 2022

Spiritual Outcomes Of A Faith-Based Camp Program For Children Of Incarcerated Parents, Raquel T. Ellis, Krystal Hays, Jeff Hamilton, Lemesis J. Reyes

Movement and Being: The Journal of the Christian Society for Kinesiology, Leisure and Sports Studies

Children of incarcerated parents are likely to experience a number of adverse outcomes including poverty, substance abuse, community violence, multiple caregivers, school failure, and justice system involvement (Hairston, 2007; Martin, 2017; Murphey & Cooper, 2015). The experience of having a parent incarcerated, and the negative outcomes associated with it, disproportionately expose these children to adverse childhood events (ACE’s) known to result in higher morbidity and mortality (Turney, 2018). However, spiritual resources, along with engagement with caring adults, can increase a child’s resilience and buffer the impact of these negative outcomes. This exploratory study describes Camp Agape California (CAC), a faith-based …

Model Averaging In Agriculture And Natural Resources: What Is It? When Is It Useful? When Is It A Distraction?, Philip M. Dixon May 2022

Model Averaging In Agriculture And Natural Resources: What Is It? When Is It Useful? When Is It A Distraction?, Philip M. Dixon

Conference on Applied Statistics in Agriculture and Natural Resources

I use two examples to illustrate three methods for model averaging: using AIC weights, using BIC weights, and fully Bayesian analyses. The first example is a capture-recapture study that estimates the population size by averaging over 4 models for capture probabilities. The second is an analysis of a study of logging impacts on Curculionid weevils using a before-after-control-impact (BACI) study design. The estimated impact is averaged over 4 ecologically relevant models.

Both examples demonstrate the sensitivity of model weights, or posterior model probabilities, to the choice of prior model probabilities and prior distributions for parameters. The model averaged estimates and …

This study aims to measure the optimal tax burden of the Jordanian economy using time series data from 1980 to 2020. Laffer curve was utilized to measure the optimal size of tax revenues in Jordan, the optimal size of income tax and the current tax burden compared to the optimal size of tax. To this end, a standard model was used to estimate Laffer curve and a fully modified ordinary least squared model (FMOLS) was used to estimate the parameters. The results indicated that the current tax rates are lower than their optimal size. Income tax levels in Jordan are …
