Dunn, James Montie, James O. Peabody, David Miller, Karandeep Singh

Urology Articles

Background: Radical prostatectomy (RP) is the most common definitive treatment for men with intermediate-risk prostate cancer and is frequently complicated by erectile dysfunction.

Objective: To develop and validate models to predict 12- and 24-month post-RP sexual function.

Design setting and participants: Using Michigan Urological Surgery Improvement Collaborative (MUSIC) registry data from 2016 to 2021, we developed dynamic, multivariate, random-forest models to predict sexual function recovery following RP. Model factors (established a priori) included baseline patient characteristics and repeated assessments of sexual satisfaction, and Expanded Prostate Cancer Index Composite 26 (EPIC-26) overall scores and sexual domain questions.

Outcome measurements and statistical …

Fisheries Management Paper No. 276: Western Australian Silverlip Pearl Oyster (Pinctada Maxima) Resource Harvest Strategy 2022 - 2026, Version 2.0, Department Of Primary Industries And Regional Development, Western Australia

Fisheries Management Papers

Harvest strategies for aquatic resources in Western Australia (WA) are formal documents that support decision making processes which are consistent with the principles of Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD; Fletcher 2002) and Ecosystem Based Fisheries Management (EBFM; Fletcher et al. 2012). The objectives of ESD are reflected in the Fish Resources Management Act 1994 (FRMA), Section 3, and the Aquatic Resources Management Act 2016 (ARMA), Section 9, which will replace the FRMA once enacted.

This Harvest Strategy aligns with DPIRD’s Harvest Strategy Policy for Aquatic Resources (Department of Fisheries 2015) and is consistent with national Harvest Strategy policies and guidelines (Sloan …

Department of Nutrition and Food Studies Scholarship and Creative Works

Zellweger spectrum disorder (ZSD) is a rare, debilitating genetic disorder of peroxisome biogenesis that affects multiple organ systems and presents with broad clinical heterogeneity. Al-though severe, intermediate, and mild forms of ZSD have been described, these designations are often arbitrary, presenting difficulty in understanding individual prognosis and treatment effectiveness. The purpose of this study is to conduct a scoping review and meta-analysis of existing literature and a medical chart review to determine if characterization of clinical findings can predict severity in ZSD. Our PubMed search for articles describing severity, clinical findings, and survival in ZSD resulted in 107 studies (representing …

Theme: Explanatory Factors Of The Entrepreneurial Intention Of University Students In Mali, Ousmane Mariko, Mahamadi Gaba

The Journal of Entrepreneurial Finance

Graduate unemployment remains a concern for many African countries. However, in recent years there has been a growing interest in entrepreneurship among young people. The objective of this research is to study the entrepreneurial motivation of young graduates. Through primary data collected from students of the FSEG's entrepreneurial bachelor's degree programme and using a multiple linear regression model, it was found that: attitudes associated with behaviours have a positive and significant impact on the decision to become an entrepreneur. Social norms are determining factors in the explanation of entrepreneurial intention and finally, factors associated with perceived control contribute significantly to …

Cultural Resources Survey And Fema Section 106 Condition Survey Of The Jacksonville State University Main Campus, Stacey L. Griffin

Histories, Biographies & Miscellanea

This architectural and condition survey of JSU's main campus (Survey PA-04-AL-4632-PW-00065) was prepared for the Federal Emergency Management Agency Environmental Planning & Historic Preservation section by Panamerican Consultants, a part of the Commonwealth Heritage Group, at the request of the Alabama Historic Commission. The impetus for the survey was the demolition of Alumni House and the former Merrill Hall, both damaged by the EF-3 tornado that struck JSU's campus March 19, 2018.

The report contains historical contextual information (e.g., campus growth from 1883-present), an architectural survey of all relevant buildings, and findings and recommendations regarding Angle Hall (formerly Bibb Graves …

Impact Of Heat Stress On Expression Of Wheat Genes Responsive To Hessian Fly Infestation, Jiazheng Yuan, Jordan O’Neal, Daria Brown, Lieceng Zhu

College of Health, Science, and Technology

Heat stress compromises wheat (Triticum aestivium) resistance to Hessian fly (HF, Mayetiola destructor (Say)). This study aimed to investigate the impact of heat stress on transcript expression of wheat genes associated with resistance to HF infestation under normal and heat-stressed conditions. To this end, ‘Molly’, a wheat cultivar containing the resistance gene H13, was subjected to HF infestation, heat stress, and the combination of HF infestation and heat stress. Our RNA-Seq approach identified 21 wheat genes regulated by HF infestation under normal temperatures (18?C) and 155 genes regulated by HF infestation when plants were exposed to 35?C for 6 h. …

Affordable Farmworker Housing, Daniel Garrett, Liam Anderson Jun 2022

Affordable Farmworker Housing, Daniel Garrett, Liam Anderson

Civil, Environmental and Sustainable Engineering Senior Theses

In this Senior Design project, engineers designed a residential, affordable housing complex that provides adequate living space. These housing complexes will be suitable residences, as well as being beneficial to the farm owners. As there are many different farmworkers and farms in California1, this housing complex will be a reproducible model that can work on any farm in California with slight adjustments. However, in order to provide the work necessary for a senior design project, it was necessary to choose an actual site where one could design a real project, but there will not be any features that are specific …

Engineering Hydrogels For Delivery Of Therapeutic Proteins, Francesca Briggs, Daryn Browne Jun 2022

Engineering Hydrogels For Delivery Of Therapeutic Proteins, Francesca Briggs, Daryn Browne

Bioengineering Senior Theses

In this project, we investigate how innate hydrogel properties can be leveraged for controlled protein drug release platforms. Therapeutic proteins have many valuable applications within the medical field, however, professionals often face many obstacles with obtaining controlled drug release. This paper analyzes how the manipulation of hydrogel properties can improve protein drug release rates. We started these investigations by varying hydrogel concentrations since we saw that this affects the release of small molecules. Additionally, we wanted to see what the addition of a second hydrogel network would do to protein release rates. These experiments concluded that raising polymer concentrations and …
