Spectral characterizations were made of the Ocean Color Instrument (OCI) short-wave infrared (SWIR) Detection Subassembly (SDS) responses (940–2260 nm) prior to their integration. Using modulated output light from a Fourier transform spectrometer, the in-band relative spectral responses of the nine different configurations of SDSs were found along with out-of-band (OOB) sensitivity. From these spectral responses, the center wavelengths (λ0), full widths at half of the maximum, full widths at 1% of the maximum, and OOB rejection ratios were determined. All spectral parameters are within requirements. There are 2–8 repeats of each configuration, and the 1 σ spread among …

Background: In medical genetics, discovery and characterization of disease trait contributory genes and alleles depends on genetic reasoning, study design, and patient ascertainment; we suggest a segmental haploid genetics approach to enhance gene discovery and molecular diagnostics.

Methods: We constructed a genome-wide map for nonallelic homologous recombination (NAHR)-mediated recurrent genomic deletions and used this map to estimate population frequencies of NAHR deletions based on large-scale population cohorts and region-specific studies. We calculated recessive disease carrier burden using high-quality pathogenic or likely pathogenic variants from ClinVar and gnomAD. We developed a NIRD (NAHR deletion Impact to Recessive Disease) score for recessive …

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

Anomaly detection from Big Cybersecurity Datasets is very important; however, this is a very challenging and computationally expensive task. Feature selection (FS) is an approach to remove irrelevant and redundant features and select a subset of features, which can improve the machine learning algorithms’ performance. In fact, FS is an effective preprocessing step of anomaly detection techniques. This article’s main objective is to improve and quantify the accuracy and scalability of both supervised and unsupervised anomaly detection techniques. In this effort, a novel anomaly detection approach using FS, called Anomaly Detection Using Feature Selection (ADUFS), has been introduced. Experimental analysis …

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

This paper proposes heterogeneous based ensemble Classifiers (voting and stacking method) to identify and classify different power system disturbances (power quality (PQ), faults, transients, and wind power variation) in wind integrated microgrid network. In the pre-processing stage of classification, a Discrete wavelet transform (DWT) technique is applied to extract the features from power system disturbance signals. The classification process for the proposed ensemble models involves two levels of classification. At the first level, the extracted features from the simulated power system events are used to learn the different individual base classifiers (logistic regression (LR), K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), and J48 Decision …

Power Extraction From Floating Elastic Plates, S Michele, F Buriani, E Renzi

School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics

We present a novel mathematical model to investigate the extraction of wave power by flexible elastic floaters. The model is based on the method of dry modes, coupled with a matched eigenfunction expansion. Our model results compare satisfactorily with preliminary data obtained from a demonstrator device, developed at the University of Groningen. We show that the role of elasticity is to increase the number of resonant frequencies with respect to a rigid body, which has a positive effect on wave power output. The mathematical model is then extended to irregular incident waves, described by a JONSWAP spectrum. Our results show …
