How Autism Is Changing The Landscape Of Speech-Language Services Provided In The South Carolina Public Schools, Julie S. Ray, Leigh Ann Spell

Teacher Education Journal of South Carolina

This study is a compilation of anonymous surveys that were sent out to speech-language pathologists/therapists (SLP/Ts) working in South Carolina public schools who have students with autism on their caseloads. The surveys focused on the speech services that South Carolina public schools offer students with autism, SLP/Ts’ confidence levels in working with students with autism, and each SLP/T’s personal rating of his/her preparedness level in providing therapy for students with autism. The study indicates the findings of the surveys and provides recommendations for communication services in South Carolina public schools.

Accurate modeling of car-following behavior is essential for understanding traffic dynamics and enabling predictive control in intelligent transportation systems. This study presents a novel data-driven framework that combines information-theoretic input selection via conditional transfer entropy (CTE) with dynamic mode decomposition with control (DMDc) for identifying and forecasting car-following dynamics. In the first step, CTE is employed to identify the specific vehicles that exert directional influence on a given subject vehicle, thereby systematically determining the relevant control inputs for modeling its behavior. Predictive maintenance is a critical component of aviation safety, yet the development of accurate data-driven models is often hindered by the severe class imbalance inherent in real-world flight data; healthy flights are abundant, while flights preceding a failure are rare. This imbalance biases machine learning models, leading to poor detection of critical maintenance needs. This project addresses this challenge by leveraging the NGAFID aviation maintenance dataset to develop and validate an integrated predictive framework. We propose training a Time-series Generative Adversarial Network (TimeGAN) to synthesize high-fidelity, realistic "pre-maintenance" flight data. This study analyzes the ergonomic aspects of the Cessna 172 Navigator III, a common flight training aircraft. The research investigated the interactions between pilots and the aircraft, focusing on pilot fatigue, workstation design, anthropometric data, and pilot interactions with controls. The study included surveys, interviews, and anthropometric measurements involving three pilots with varying experience levels, alongside physical measurements of the cockpit and a workstation ergonomic assessment.. This project aims to identify which event-level and structural covariates are most predictive of terrorism outcomes. Using the Global Terrorism Database (1970–2020), we examine whether fatalities, injuries, attack type, target type, and actor type, combined with national-level conditions, can reliably predict outcomes such as lone actor versus group involvement, attack method, target selection, and property damage. Event-level data are merged with World Bank Development Indicators and Freedom House scores to incorporate economic and governance contexts. This paper investigates the association between types of water sources for livestock and livelihood choices of pastoralist households in semi-arid areas of Monduli District, Tanzania. Specifically, it aims to examine the influence of the types of water sources for livestock on livelihood diversification of pastoralist households. Using a mixed research methods approach, the data were collected from 367 households through three methods: surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions. Smallholder farmers in rural Tanzania depend mainly on rain-fed agriculture, which makes them vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. This paper is based on a study conducted in Burunga and Musati villages in Serengeti District, Tanzania. The study employed a mixed methods approach; combining qualitative and quantitative methods. It involved 154 participants and employed household surveys, key informant interviews, and focus group discussions as data collection methods. This article critically explores how Bongo Fleva’s lyrics engage with environmental themes; and the interrelationship between nature and culture in the context of the Anthropocene. The data were purposively sampled from YouTube via content analysis, from which 50 Bongo Fleva songs were listened to, and only 10 environmentally-themed songs were analysed. In many developing countries, agriculture remains a vital source of food, employment, and income. The adoption of agricultural technologies can boost farm revenue and productivity, reduce food insecurity, and lessen poverty. This study investigates the main factors influencing farmers’ decisions to adopt fertilizers, improved seeds, soil conservation practices, and pesticides in Tanzania. The analysis uses cross-sectional data from the fifth wave of the Tanzania National Panel Survey (TNPS), and employs an ordered probit model.
