A large portion of healthcare spending is focused on patients with multiple chronic illnesses, and most of these patients are on numerous medications, commonly referred to as polypharmacy or hyper-polypharmacy. Furthermore, hospice-eligible patients have at least one disease process that is considered life-limiting with a life expectancy of less than six months, and often have multiple medical conditions with complicated treatment regimens known as multimorbidity. The high incidence of multiple comorbidities for hospice patients, combined with advanced age and the incidence of polypharmacy and hyperpolypharmacy, has also caused an increased treatment burden for patients and caregivers. Sex trafficking affects an estimated 300,000 American children per year with a child sold every two minutes. Child sex trafficking is broadly defined as the exchange of something of value for sexual relations with a child/minor. The commercial sexual exploitation of children and domestic minor sex trafficking occur across the United States and violates the rights and health of many youth and other vulnerable and/or marginalized groups. Both familial traffickers and nonfamilial traffickers manipulate and control their victims with similar strategies. The Digital Teaching Champions initiative is a faculty‑led effort to strengthen online teaching at Fort Hays State University through small, presence‑focused course design changes. Grounded in the Community of Inquiry (CoI) framework and aligned with DigCompEdu and ISTE standards, the Engage & Elevate model invited faculty from multiple disciplines to redesign a single online activity to enhance social, cognitive, or teaching presence. Over one month, participants implemented changes such as restructured discussions, revised peer review prompts, micro‑lectures, and clearer communication plans, then gathered student feedback and met for a summit to share outcomes. Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee is a nonprofit organization that provides psychosocial support to individuals and families impacted by cancer. This project aimed to address educational and psychosocial needs through two targeted initiatives grounded in health promotion, client-centered care, and community engagement. The first initiative focused on improving awareness of pelvic floor health in men affected by cancer. An accessible educational handout was developed to increase understanding of pelvic floor anatomy, common symptoms, toileting norms, and available resources, including pelvic floor therapy. In this paper, we examine the driving forces of CEO to median employee pay ratios from a macro-perspective using a sample of large corporations included in the DJIA index from 1949 to 2022. We find that CEO-employee pay ratios increase with the Industry Production Index and inflation rate, but decrease with GDP per capita growth rate, unemployment rate, stock market, and industry trends. Our results also show that CEO pay structure changes from salary and bonus-dominated to option and stock-dominated pay enable CEOs to enjoy a much better pay package compared to lower-level employees, while executive pay-related regulations in the …

Birdsong is a communication signal shaped by ecological, morphological, and cultural processes. While many songbird species produce relatively simple vocal repertoires, others, such as the Bachman’s Sparrow (Peucaea aestivalis), produce moderately large repertoires with multiple distinct and context-dependent song categories. Despite this complexity, little is known about the major drivers that shape song elaboration in this species. Additionally, it is unclear whether abiotic factors play a significant role in determining how different song types are learned and shared within a population. This article critically examines the Supreme Court of India’s use of life imprisonment without the possibility of remission or parole (LWORP) as a sentencing alternative to the death penalty. While the Constitution Bench in V Sriharan v Union of India (2015) upheld the constitutionality of such sentences, it did not articulate principled standards governing their imposition. This article argues that the absence of such standards has produced a vacuum in LWORP sentencing. To substantiate this claim, we analyse fifty-three Supreme Court judgments delivered between 2016 and 2024 in which death sentences were commuted to LWORP. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are nano-sized, membrane-delimited, particles released by cells that carry signaling macromolecules. A major pathway of EV production is potentiated by neutral sphingomyelinase 2 (SMPD3/nSMAse2), an enzyme that generates ceramide from sphingomyelin. In our attempt to study this pathway in adipocytes of male mice, we discover that the elimination of SMPD3 from adipocytes in vivo triggers a signal to surrounding immune cell-like preadipocytes to release EVs that carry SMPD3 mRNA. This results in a widespread increase in SMPD3 mRNA in purified null adipocytes without a change in the transcripts of other enzymes involved in ceramide metabolism. These results …

Bacteria survive hostile conditions by shutting down protein synthesis, but how they restart growth remains poorly understood. Here, we use an E. coli ΔrimM strain, which exhibits a prolonged growth arrest, as a model to investigate how bacteria recover from this state and restore protein synthesis. RimM is a conserved ribosome maturation factor for the 3'-major (head) domain of the 16S rRNA within the bacterial 30S subunit. The loss of RimM causes a longer delay in recovery than other 30S maturation factors, including RbfA. Cryo-EM analysis of ΔrimM ribosomes suggests a delayed recruitment of ribosomal proteins to the 30S head …

The reprocessing of tailings is crucial for recovering valuable iron and reducing the environmental impact associated with tailings disposal. The raw iron ore tailings used in this study had an initial iron oxide content of 24.05 wt% Fe2O3, as determined by ICP-OES analysis. This study investigates the practicality of tailings reprocessing to enhance iron oxide content by integrating electrostatic separation with a two-stage froth flotation process consisting of direct anionic flotation using oleic acid followed by reverse cationic flotation using amine collectors. The following design report details the development of training resources for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to help in-field mentors learn and improve specific job tasks. In 2025, the client hired over 400 new employees as it expanded to support regions around the globe. This necessitated enhanced training resources which mentors could access on demand during their weekly professional development time. In response, I developed and delivered asynchronous training materials through an internal SharePoint page. These materials include a self-assessment, instructional videos, practice activities in Microsoft PowerPoint modules, and job aids.

Background: This study investigated challenges confronting the use of school media resource centers in secondary schools within the Jos North Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State, Nigeria. The research aimed to identify existing obstacles and their impact on student achievement through two research questions and two hypotheses.

Methodology: Utilizing a descriptive survey research design, the study sampled 294 Junior Secondary School (JSS 2) students—selected via simple random sampling—from a total population of 1,178 across four schools. Current developments include machine translation, which is evolving in tandem with generative artificial intelligence (AI). On one hand, useful translation apps have become available to help the public communicate internationally. On the other hand, recent research concludes that even machine translation's best output still requires post-editing by a human. We report results from a computational study of fission track damage within a Lexan substrate caused by ²³⁵U suspended within a collodion film of varied thickness. MCNP6.3 was used to model energy deposition and displacements per atom within a Lexan film coated by a film of collodion, located within the air-filled 6 inch dry tube of a TRIGA reactor. The collodion layer was varied between 20 and 100 μm thickness, resulting in an 8.8% difference in energy deposition and 12% difference in displacements-per-atom within the Lexan substrate. Background: Young women who inject drugs (YWID) face heightened risks for HIV, hepatitis C, and overdose that are shaped by the relational contexts in which they inject. Injection partnerships, defined as dyadic relationships between people who inject together, remain understudied beyond male–female intimate pairs. A study was conducted to investigate the use of Agile and hybrid methodologies for improving project performance. The contingency theory was applied to determine the impact of Agile on cost, schedule, quality, and stakeholder engagement. It also explored obstacles and factors in successful implementation. The study used qualitative research design and interviewed 15 construction project professionals from different sectors. INTRODUCTION:Walking the Talk for Dementia (WTD) convenes people from every continent and multiple perspectives, including people with lived experience, in a 40- km walk followed by a 2-day symposium. The aim is collective reflective dialogue about dementia stigma without the burden of professional hierarchies.

METHODS: Qualitative reflections during and immediately following the walk were analyzed using content analysis to identify common themes.

RESULTS: Three themes demonstrate an evolution of perspectives about dementia and stigma: “meeting the person not the label”, “a community in solidarity”, and “I wasn’t treated like I was broken, and I wasn’t broken.”
