Accurate quantification of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO₂) fluxes in wetland ecosystems is essential for understanding their role in both regional and global carbon dynamics, particularly in the context of climate change. However, the spatial and temporal heterogeneity of wetlands presents major challenges for developing reliable upscaling models. This study examines how Bangladeshi freelancers use digital platform work to cope with precarious local labor markets and how this strategy both mitigates and reproduces insecurity. In this form of work, freelancers compete for short-term, skill-based remote jobs posted by global clients. Drawing on 30 in-depth interviews and virtual ethnography, this study challenges dominant Western understandings of the precariat that assume workers fall from stable employment into insecure work. Instead, the findings show that many freelancers enter platform labor strategically as a way out of already unstable and limited local opportunities. This thesis examines how United States Army Special Forces veterans of the Global War on Terror narrate the identity of the "Quiet Professional" across training, deployment, and post-service life. Drawing on oral history interviews with four retired Green Berets, as well as archival and material culture analysis, the study approaches Special Forces as a distinctive military institution shaped by narrative, institutional formation, and war. It argues that Special Forces ethos is not a fixed warrior identity, but a lived and contested achievement produced through rites of passage, embodied hardship, informal legitimacy, and collective memory. Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide, largely due to late-stage diagnosis. Low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening has demonstrated significant mortality reduction in high-risk populations; however, its widespread implementation is limited by high false-positive rates, inter-reader variability, and substantial workflow burden. Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a promising adjunct to address these challenges by enhancing diagnostic consistency, efficiency, and risk stratification in LDCT-based screening. The global transition toward sustainable chemical manufacturing demands technologies that leverage natural carbon and nitrogen cycles while minimizing reliance on sacrificial reagents and fossil resources. These biogeochemical cycles are fundamental to life, and enzymes catalyze many of their key transformations. Bio electrochemical, specifically electroenzymatic, systems offer a promising route to sustainable synthesis by enabling selective redox transformations powered by electricity. However, whereas carbon-cycle enzymes are now well established in bio electrochemical synthesis, enzymes from the nitrogen cycle remain comparatively underexplored. Neurocognitive decline (NCD) is a significant concern for patients with brain metastases, yet traditional paper-based assessments are often burdensome. This prospective cohort study evaluated the feasibility and outcomes of a tablet-based digital neurocognitive battery in patients with prior stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). Data were analyzed from an institutional prospective registry (NCT05504681) including 41 adults with prior SRS. Patients were stratified into a high-risk group (undergoing repeat SRS for progression) and a low-risk group (surveillance only). Generation and evolution mechanisms of mountain-wave turbulence (MWT) encountered by an aircraft in the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere (UTLS) over the mountainous region of Alaska were investigated using high-resolution numerical simulations with four nested domains (Δx = 9, 3, 1, and 0.2 km). In domain 3, large-amplitude mountain waves were generated by strong cross-barrier flow associated with an intense cyclone. The positive vertical wavenumber squared and the absence of a critical level supported vertical propagation of these waves. Background/aim: The biomechanical effects of zygomatic anchorage plates, vertical chin-caps, and occipital headgear on dentofacial structures in patients with skeletal anterior open bite malocclusion were compared using three-dimensional finite element analysis.

Materials and methods: Three-dimensional finite element models were constructed based on computed tomography data obtained from a patient with skeletal anterior open bite. Simulation models representing zygomatic anchorage-supported intrusion, vertical chin-cap, and occipital headgear were generated under fixed orthodontic conditions. To date, no home-based exercise programs have been established as definitive interventions for improving the sit-to-stand (STS) performance in older adults (OAs). Previous research identifies a duration of >15 seconds on the Five-Time-Sit-to-Stand Test (FTSST) as a significant predictor of increased fall risk for OAs. This study applies higher-ranked gluteal activation therapeutic exercises that can improve STS performance for OAs.

Humans are naturally attuned to emotionally salient sounds, such as screams signaling danger, which trigger survival-related responses. In sound-sensitivity disorders, such as misophonia and hyperacusis, everyday sounds provoke intense emotional and behavioral reactions. Misophonia is typically triggered by specific sounds, such as chewing, whereas hyperacusis involves hypersensitivity to sounds above certain intensity thresholds. Because these disorders share overlapping symptoms and frequently co-occur, disentangling their neural bases is essential for improving diagnosis and treatments. We recruited 91 young adults categorized into four groups: misophonia, hyperacusis, comorbid misophonia and hyperacusis, and controls. This research aimed to identify the most common forms of bullying experienced by eighth-grade students, according to data from the TIMSS 2023, and those with the greatest impact on academic achievement, in Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Finland. The sample included all students who participated in the TIMSS 2023 study, totaling 15,667 students. The descriptive method, employing both causal-comparative and correlational approaches, was used to achieve the study’s objectives. The results showed that the most common form of bullying in Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Finland was “listening to hurtful things about one’s appearance,” with rates of 35.5%, 12.1%, and 24%, respectively. …
