BACKGROUND: Avian influenza (AI) represents a persistent threat to public health, food security, and livelihoods in Ghana, where outbreaks of H5N1 and H9N2 have occurred. This cross-sectional study evaluated the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) related to avian influenza among residents of the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality; an area characterized by intensive poultry production with the aim of delineating deficits in community-level preparedness and guiding evidence-based public health interventions. METHODS: A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted from May to July 2025 using a four-stage sampling technique. BACKGROUND: During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services created a waiver to reimburse telemedicine services. It is important to understand factors that facilitate incorporation of telemedicine into ongoing cardiovascular practice.

METHODS: This was a retrospective cohort study of telemedicine and office visits delivered by cardiologists between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2023, for Medicare beneficiaries. We calculated the adjusted incidence rate ratio (aIRR) of telemedicine visits, representing the proportion of a physician's visits delivered by telemedicine, to identify factors associated with telemedicine use.

Legal decision-making is expected to meet high standards of consistency and rationality, yet human judgments in this domain are known to be influenced by procedural factors such as evidence order and intermediate evaluations. Recent work has shown that even legal professionals, including judges, are susceptible to such biases when assessing criminal cases. This raises a critical question: do large language models, which are increasingly proposed as decision-support tools in legal contexts, exhibit similar procedural biases—and if so, can these biases be mitigated? This study presents a high-performance piezoelectric nanogenerator (PENG) based on aluminum-doped zinc oxide (Al:ZnO) nanorods synthesized via a novel sonochemical method. This rapid, cost-effective, and reproducible approach enables the synthesis of ZnO nanorods (ZnO NRs) under ambient conditions. The PENG, fabricated on a 177 µm flexible Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) coated polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate, benefits from optimized aluminum doping, enhancing the output voltage. Structural analyses conducted using atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) demonstrated that the synthesized ZnO nanorods possessed a high degree of crystallinity. This paper examines the shifting contours of criminal law in relation to political speech, with a focus on Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). It advances three arguments. First, the decolonising narrative behind deleting sedition glosses over substantive continuities between colonial and post-colonial periods, with Section 152 BNS refashioning the colonial-era bifurcation between ‘sedition’ and ‘sedition-like’ activity. The BNS provision represents a backslide in the way it converges the various legal and political connotations of sedition from colonial to contemporary times, creating a new criminal category constructed through popular political-extra-legal discourses. Ignazio Visco served as deputy director general (the equivalent of deputy governor) of the Bank of Italy during the Global Financial Crisis of 2007–09 (GFC) and as governor during the European Sovereign Debt Crisis in 2011 (SDC). During his multidecade tenure at the bank, he held several positions and served under nine prime ministers before stepping down in 2023. This article refines the concept of black swans, typically described as highly unlikely and catastrophic events, to be internally consistent. It explores features of the financial system that prevent the eradication of black swans. The main implication is the need to enhance the financial system’s resilience to withstand unforeseen events rather than focus on past crises. The article introduces a “resilience principle” for designing official-sector policies that can achieve such goals. The principle calls for policies that are adaptable, universal, and systemic. Red blood cells (RBCs) must be stored at +4 ± 2 °C and have a shelf life of just 42 days, which makes maintaining a stable blood supply during adverse conditions extraordinarily challenging. Background: Filifactor alocis is a Gram-positive, obligate anaerobe that has emerged as a diagnostic marker of periodontitis. Neutrophils and macrophages are key players in oral immune homeostasis. Neutrophils are short-lived cells and constitutively undergo apoptosis. This apoptotic program can be accelerated or delayed by bacterial interactions. Macrophages clear apoptotic neutrophils via “efferocytosis,” a crucial mechanism for resolving inflammation and preventing tissue damage. The efferocytic process downregulates the expression and release of proinflammatory cytokines such as interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-23 while promoting anti-inflammatory responses. BACKGROUND

Previous research has identified some disparities between the care that masculine- and feminine-presenting patients experience with regards to sexual health. These disparities could cause feelings of unease and also difficulty with patient-physician communication. In medical education, standardized patients can help students identify and address implicit biases that could propagate as providers.

METHODS

The study population consisted of second year medical students (n=100) from the University of Louisville who completed sexual history-taking during a standardized patient encounter. Coders evaluated the phrases used, perceived comfort levels, and SP feedback among masculine- and feminine-presenting standardized patients.

Many medical students lack confidence when navigating a patient sexual history. Discomfort may stem from a lack of experience, societal taboos surrounding sexual health discussions, or concerns about maintaining professionalism while addressing sensitive topics. We aimed to investigate comfort and confidence among student genders and patient age.

METHODS

We analyzed 107 standardized patient (SP) encounters of second-year students across three sexual health cases with different presenting complaints. Perceived comfort and confidence were inferred from student body language, language, and conversational tone, which were categorized as: comfortable/confident, fairly comfortable/confident, not comfortable/confident.
