The world-premiere recording of Il mondo della luna by Pedro António Avondano consists of a highly skillful and alert performance by Portuguese musicians, including singers well trained in Italian. The recitatives were rehearsed in an unusual way, with the singers first speaking the lines rather than singing them. The experiment will be judged variously by different observers. The reviewer dislikes the frequent clash in pitch between voice and instruments, especially at cadences. But others have hailed the recording unstintingly.

There are interesting facts concerning his work as Music Director of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra where he expounds on some of his ideas about conducting such an orchestra and describes certain innovative programs he produced during his tenure there. The difference between traditional and modern shakuhachi construction and tuning is significant in that it represents a paradigm shift in the psychological aim and embodied techniques employed in association with the instrument. Beginning in Edo-era Japan as an ostensibly religious instrument, the shakuhachi was at first played with a similar technique to its predecessor, the hitoyogiri, using the breath to modify pitch and giving priority to tone color. The widespread, positive reception of Ossianic poems in Germany and Austria inspired many musical settings from Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, and perhaps also Schumann. Settings of the poetic narrative of Colma, which relates the anguish of a maiden discovering that her brother and her lover have slain each other in mortal combat, were composed by Zumsteeg, Reichardt, Schubert, and Weber. This essay examines two later settings composed in the 1870s by Ferdinand Hiller and Vinzenz Lachner. Chondrosarcoma (CS) are common bone cancers that produce cartilaginous tumors and are extremely refractive to chemo-and-radiation therapies, leaving very limited treatment options. They contain mutations in the isocitrate dehydrogenase genes, IDH1 or IDH2. Either IDH1 or IDH2 mutations are present in individual tumors, but not both. They both convert alphaketoglutarate (αKG) into the potent oncometabolite D-2-hydroxyglutarate (D2HG). D2HG can be transported from the tumors to cells of the tumor microenvironment (TME) where it can alter metabolic and epigenetic profiles in recipient cells. Purpose

Many infants with cleft lip and/or palate (CL/P) have airway issues that make supine, flat-surface sleep challenging.¹ Prior studies indicate that alternative positioning may reduce obstructive events,² and early sleep-disordered breathing can affect later development.³  Despite this, caregivers of infants with craniofacial differences rarely receive tailored sleep guidance, and no evidence-based, condition-specific recommendations currently exist.^4,5

Methods

This single-site, cross-sectional study evaluated sleep practices, caregiver education, and barriers to adherence among parents of children (< 3 years) with CL/P treated at CHKD’s Craniofacial Program. Eligible caregivers (n=117) were identified via query of the electronic medical record by CHKD Data Governance and invited to complete an anonymous REDCap survey assessing demographics, sleep environment, counseling, and understanding of safe-sleep recommendations.

Of the 11 caregivers who completed the survey, 91% reported crib sleep, though several also used beds, couches, …

The Living Lab is an independent applied research project informed by my 25 years of lived experience as a Section 8 voucher holder, examining how instructional design strategies can improve administrative workflows, communication, and equitable access within the Housing Choice Voucher Program. Drawing on sustained participation, the research identifies two primary systemic barriers: the federally mandated 15-day inspection period and incomplete Request for Tenancy Approval (RFTA) packets. Introduction: Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) participate in physical activity at lower rates than their neurotypical peers1. Sensory sensitivities, reported in approximately 75–95% of children with ASD, may contribute to this disparity2. Gymnastics environments involve bright lighting and loud noise, which can precipitate sensory overload. The impact of specific sensory features on participation in adaptive gymnastics remains underexplored.

Lasallian students influencers experience complexities when balancing their idealized online image, identity, moral responsibilities, and the psycho-emotional impacts of content creation while still following the values of De La Salle University-Manila. While portrayals of bakla characters have been widely studied, lesbian narratives often remain sidelined or framed through limited, stereotypical lenses. Salmonella contamination remains a significant health concern, particularly in environments where temperature fluctuations influence bacterial survival. While previous studies have identified temperature as a key factor in microbial growth, the specific effects of varying heat levels on Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium concentration require further investigation, particularly in the context of the Philippines. This study examined bacterial concentration across different temperatures by assessing S. typhimurium under controlled laboratory conditions at 37 °C, 42 °C, and 47 °C. Foodborne illnesses cause millions of deaths annually, posing a significant public health concern, particularly in regions with thriving street food cultures like the Philippines. This study investigated how sugar content and pH levels in street food dipping sauces affect microbial growth. Six sauce samples were prepared with varying sugar (25g, 50g, 75g) and pH levels (4.0, 3.6, 3.1). Microbial load was measured using the Standard Plate Count (SPC) method. While a moderate sugar concentration (50g) showed the lowest microbial load, this difference was not statistically significant (p=0.77).
