Mental Health In Rural School-Age Youth: Examining Trends In Adverse Childhood Experiences, Positive Childhood Experiences, And Family Resilience From 2018-2023, Mary Katherine Shires

This study examined trends in adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), positive childhood experiences (PCEs), family resilience, and mental health conditions in rural and urban youth in the United States from 2018-2023. It also assessed whether PCEs and family resilience moderated the association between ACEs and youth mental health and whether these relationships differed by geographic setting and across time. Data were drawn from six years (2018-2023) of the National Survey of Children’s Health (NSCH), a nationally representative, cross-sectional, caregiver-reported survey assessing child wellbeing. Moderate to extreme preterm birth (<  32 weeks gestation) affects cardiopulmonary structure and function and is associated with increased risk of heart failure through adulthood. The rat hyperoxia (Hx) model (term born; postnatal Hx exposure) captures biventricular changes, including at the cell and organ scale, and pulmonary vascular remodeling seen in preterm humans. However, synthesizing these measures across scales and organ systems is challenging. We hypothesized that in silico modeling of biventricular mitochondrial, myofiber, and organ-scale function plus circulatory function could capture key features of cardiopulmonary abnormalities due to preterm birth. Therefore, we calibrated a multiscale model to subject-specific biventricular pressure–volume data previously obtained from Hx rats alongside normoxic (Nx) controls to investigate the abnormalities in cardiopulmonary function at multiple scales in this animal model of human preterm birth. The calibrated model demonstrates excellent agreement with the data and captures the expected pulmonary vascular changes and right ventricular dilation seen in preterm-born children. Our multiscale modeling approach captures cardiopulmonary abnormalities across spatial scales and provides an innovative approach to explore the consequences of preterm birth beyond preclinical experimental data alone. This is a foundational step in understanding the impact of preterm birth on cardiopulmonary disease in childhood as well as adulthood.

The nucleus harbors genetic material encapsulated by the nuclear envelope which is composed of an inner and outer nuclear membrane. The establishment and organization of chromatin at the INM is essential for cell fate during the differentiation program. Integral INM proteins are responsible for chromatin organization at the nuclear envelope. Emerin is a highly conserved type II integral INM protein with roles in chromatin organization, cell signaling, and nuclear structure. Mutations in the emerin gene cause Emery Dreifuss Muscular Dystrophy 1 (EDMD1). Emerin is ubiquitously expressed, but loss of emerin function affects specifically skeletal muscle and cardiac tissue. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a multifaceted neurodevelopmental condition that affects an estimated 1 in 31 children in the United States. ASD frequently co-occurs with a wide range of developmental, emotional, sensory, and medical conditions necessitating a multifaceted and coordinated approach to care. In this paper, we describe the programmatic evaluation of a transformation of an applied behavior analysis (ABA) focused multidisciplinary therapy clinic into an interdisciplinary ASD therapy center. Using a quality improvement Plan-Do-Study-Act framework, we outline our process for building integrated teams, cultivating interdisciplinary collaboration, and enhancing respect among disciplines. Objectives: Raising awareness of dementia in the general public is a key dementia policy. Adolescents are one population whose levels of dementia knowledge we have little understanding about. In this cross-sectional survey study, we aimed to capture the level of dementia knowledge in adolescents from different socio-demographic groups and to explore the factors associated with adolescents’ dementia knowledge. Method: We recruited 1,371 adolescents aged 11-18 years across England. This study was conducted to determine what factors cause stunting in Central Sulawesi Province. Moving through each of the five senses as a way to fully arrive “in class” promotes self-regulation and engagement. "In the sections that follow, we develop theoretical scaffolding for our analysis. We begin by reviewing the literature on institutional work, focusing on how embedded actors engage in purposive actions to disrupt taken-for-granted norms. Next, we examine theoretically how influencers operate, setting the stage for understanding how deinfluencers leverage and subvert these roles. We then review scholarship on anti- consumption and consumer resistance, highlighting how deinfluencers depart from conventional activist modes by adopting culturally embedded, everyday practices. Background/Objectives: Fragile X Syndrome (FXS) is a neurodevelopmental disorder caused by a triplet repeat expansion in the Fmr1 gene leading to the loss of Fragile X Messenger Ribonucleoprotein (Fmr1 protein). The loss of Fmr1 protein modulates many cell biological processes and leads to the emergence of intellectual disability and autism. FXS is modeled in Fmr1-KO mice that display features consistent with human FXS, including hypersensitivity, cognitive and learning deficits, hyperactivity and audiogenic seizures. Background: Cytokines mediate resistance to tuberculosis infection and play a significant role in host susceptibility and the progression of the infection. Aim: This study aimed to determine whether plasma levels of IL-17, IL-10, and VEGF can discriminate between non-resistant TB, monoresistant TB, Multidrug-resistant TB, and TB-negative subjects. Methods: Three hundred and twenty-five presumptive TB patients were recruited from 2020 to 2023 in the North-western region of Nigeria as study participants from whom sputum and blood samples were collected. AiXGa1−XN (0.7 < X < 1) Schottky Diodes Using Distributed Polarization Doped Layer With A Current Density Of 14 Ka/Cm2, Tariq Jamil, Abdullah Al Mamun Mazumder, Mafruda Rahman, Muhammad Ali, Grigory Simin, M. Asif Khan

High Al-content Al_xGa_1-xN (0.7 < x < 1) quasi-vertical Schottky barrier diodes (SBDs) with distributed polarization doping were grown on the bulk AlN substrate. They exhibit excellent rectification behavior with a large forward current density (~14 kA/cm² ) and a high breakdown field of ~8.3 MV/cm. The SBDs also exhibited low ideality factors of (n~1.2) with a high Schottky barrier height (Φ _b~ 1.7 eV). Thus, this study demonstrates the feasibility of the distributed polarization doping approach for high current–high voltage devices.
