Videoconference Administration Of The Delis-Kaplan Executive Function System, Zachary T. Stine Feb 2023

Videoconference Administration Of The Delis-Kaplan Executive Function System, Zachary T. Stine

Doctor of Psychology (PsyD)

Neuropsychological assessments rely on standardization, reliability, validity, and normative data to increase the accuracy of clinicians’ interpretations (Lezak et al., 2012). One particular assessment that focuses on examining comprehensive executive functioning is the Delis-Kaplan Executive Function System (D-KEFS; Delis et al., 2001). Videoconference is gaining in use to provide services within multiple healthcare domains to increase access to care and convenience, potentially reduce costs, and sustain patient satisfaction (Brearly et al., 2017). The literature has shown support for the growing field of telehealth neuropsychology (Brearly et al., 2017); however, many neuropsychological assessments, such as the D-KEFS, have not been normed …

Role Of Ribosome Recycling Factor In Natural Termination And Translational Coupling As A Ribosome Releasing Factor, Yoshio Inokuchi, Fabio Quaglia, Akikazu Hirashima, Yoshihiro Yamamoto, Hideko Kaji, Akira Kaji

Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Faculty Papers

The role of ribosome recycling factor (RRF) of E. coli was studied in vivo and in vitro. We used the translational coupling without the Shine-Dalgarno sequence of downstream ORF (d-ORF) as a model system of the RRF action in natural termination of protein synthesis. For the in vivo studies we used the translational coupling by the adjacent coat and lysis genes of RNA phage GA sharing the termination and initiation (UAAUG) and temperature sensitive RRF. The d-ORF translation was measured by the expression of the reporter lacZ gene connected to the 5'-terminal part of the lysis gene. The results showed …

Jefferson Hospital Staff Papers and Presentations

The COVID-19 pandemic has presented many challenges in health care, not the least of which was the need to find alternatives to an in-person evaluation to reduce the risk of transmission of the virus. Despite the discontinuation of elective procedures at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia (TJUH), Pennsylvania in March 2020, there was a subset of patients that required urgent surgical procedures. Consequently, there needed to be a different approach to the presurgical assessment of these patients. At our institution teleconsultation had gained acceptance by patients and providers prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, therefore a program was rapidly developed …

Local, Regional, And Global Adaptations To A Compound Pandemic-Weather Stress Event, Iman Haqiqi, Danielle S. Grogan, Marziyeh Bahalou Horeh, Jing Liu, Uris Baldos, Richard Lammers, Thomas W. Hertel

Department of Agricultural Economics Faculty Publications

Global food security can be threatened by short-term extreme events that negatively impact food production, food purchasing power, and agricultural economic activity. At the same time, environmental pollutants like greenhouse gases (GHGs) can be reduced due to the same short-term extreme stressors. Stress events include pandemics like COVID-19 and widespread droughts like those experienced in 2015. Here we consider the question: what if COVID-19 had co-occurred with a 2015-like drought year? Using a coupled biophysical-economic modeling framework, we evaluate how this compound stress would alter both agricultural sector GHG emissions and change the number of undernourished people worldwide. We further …

School of Earth, Environmental, & Marine Sciences Faculty Publications

Extensive floodplains throughout the Amazon basin support important ecosystem services and influence global water and carbon cycles. A recent change in the hydroclimatic regime of the region, with increased rainfall in the northern portions of the basin, has produced record-breaking high water levels on the Amazon River mainstem. Yet, the implications for the magnitude and duration of floodplain inundation across the basin remain unknown. Here we leverage state-of-the-art hydrological models, supported by in situ and remote sensing observations, to show that the maximum annual inundation extent along the central Amazon increased by 26% since 1980. We further reveal increased flood …

Since the early 2010s, synthetic opioids have significantly contributed to overall opioid-related overdose mortalities. For point of reference, of the 68,630 opioid-related deaths recorded in 2020, 56,516 involved synthetic opioids. During much of this period, fentanyl has been the most commonly used synthetic opioid. This time when fentanyl was the most popular opioid has been called the “third wave” of the opioid crisis, partly because it led to a sharp rise in deaths from overdoses. Other synthetic opioids, such as carfentanil, protonitazene, and isotonitazene, have also become more widely diverted for nonmedical used. Carfentanil is an even more potent fentanyl …

Ownership Structure And Earnings Management Practices: An Empirical Evidence From Malaysian Public Firms, Muhammad Shaheer Nuhu, Zauwiyah Ahmad, Lim Ying Zhee

International Journal of Management, Finance and Accounting

This paper aims to analyse the mitigating effects of ownership structure on earnings management (EM) practices. Data were collected from firms listed on Bursa Malaysia’s main market, covering the years 2011 through 2021. Panel Regression was employed to analyses the data, with the aid of STATA software version 17. The finding of this study confirmed significant negative association between foreign ownership (FOW) and EM of listed firms in Malaysia.  Additionally, managerial ownership (MOW) and ownership concentration (OC) were found to be insignificantly related to EM. Similarly, the two control variables included in the analysis, only firm size (FISZ) was found …

An Interactive Multisource De&I Dashboard At The Program & Sponsoring Institution Levels – A Snapshot, Kathryn Agard, Tricia La Fratta, Deborah Simpson, Aboud Affi, Mohammad Mortada, Wilhelm Lehmann, Willilam Macdonald, Jacob Bidwell

Aurora GME

Background: Recent literature emphases that Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DE&I) efforts be data driven and transparent, often in dashboard format, to support the ability of GME programs and sponsoring institutions (SI) to clearly identify progress and concerns longitudinally. DE&I efforts have been a long-term focus in our GME programs and SI and are now further delineated in the ACGME's Common Program Requirements scheduled to take effect July 1, 2023. However, DE&I data sources may be limited, challenging to collect and/or in variable formats from multiple sources making it difficult to capture a longitudinal view of our efforts by program/SI.

Faculty Research - Newspaper and Magazine Articles

The journey in pursuit of the vision started in the early 2000s when the SBP decided to mandate banks to join one of either two ATM switches available in the country. The 1Link switch has played a critical role but still after two decades the number of ATMs remains 17,000 and only one million transactions are taking place every month mainly for cash withdrawal. The Electronic Transaction Ordinance was promulgated in 2000 providing legal recognition to digital signature and documentation reducing the risks associated with the use of electronic medium of business. Commercial banks were allowed to open and operate …
