The present research focuses on how Academic Social Networking Sites (ASNS) can influence perceived outcomes of research in scholars by going beyond the adoption-centered methods to an outcome-centered perspective. The study deconstructs the effects that the primary dimensions of ASNS usage, namely the awareness, access, purpose, and challenges, have on research-related benefits using a quantitative research design. Results indicate that functional and behavioural factors are more decisive determinants of results as opposed to sheer awareness. Specifically, the availability of digital platforms and intentional interaction have a strong positive effect on the effectiveness of the research, and the issues related to …

“A postconviction petition is very difficult to win.” This is especially true in Ohio. Many postconviction petitions are submitted by incarcerated pro se petitioners who draft and file petitions without the assistance of counsel, leaving the doctrine of res judicata free to overwhelm their claims and inhibit future relief. The American Bar Association advises states to impose a right to counsel in postconviction proceedings, and specifically at the early drafting and filing phase of postconviction litigation, to help remedy this issue. The Retreat Of Federal Power And The Rise Of Post-Supremacy Federalism, Victoria Grace Litman

This Article introduces the theory of post-supremacy federalism to describe a structural condition in which federal law remains formally binding, but enforcement has durably receded or collapsed. Unlike frameworks grounded in intergovernmental friction or negotiated cooperation, this account begins from federal retreat—the cumulative erosion of enforcement capacity across judicial, administrative, legislative, and executive institutions. Post-supremacy federalism arises when three conditions are met: (1) federal law remains intact; (2) enforcement retreats; and (3) no formal devolution occurs. Discrete trial training (DTT) is an individualized method of instruction that is foundational to the clinical practice of Applied Behavior Analysis. When presenting choices for reinforcement during a DTT session, there appear to be two plausible options for when the client may choose: either before task completion or after task completion. The overall conclusion drawn by previous researchers was that the relative effectiveness of either condition may be idiosyncratic. Language barriers in healthcare negatively impact quality of care, patient satisfaction, and health equity, particularly among individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP). This capstone program aimed to develop and implement an occupational therapy communication protocol to address language barriers in a skilled nursing facility. A mixed-methods approach was used, including a pre-survey of staff, post-implementation interviews, and observational feedback to evaluate communication practices, interpreter use, and staff confidence. A total of 25 staff members completed the pre-survey, with additional insights gathered through interviews and observations following implementation. Work-related injuries often result in decreased work performance and extended recovery time. This can lead to mental health challenges and a risk of re-injury. Typical work rehabilitation focuses on physical recovery while overlooking psychosocial factors. This capstone project developed a wellness program to support emotional wellness and improve return-to-work (RTW) outcomes. The program incorporated educational content, coping strategies, and interventions targeting emotional wellness for injured workers receiving physical therapy. Occupational therapy has the ability to address both physical and psychosocial factors and increase interdisciplinary efforts during work rehabilitation. This capstone project involved developing, implementing, and evaluating a life skills program for justice-involved youth in a juvenile detention setting. Guided by a needs assessment, the program targeted financial literacy, job readiness, professionalism, and soft skills through structured sessions incorporating education, interactive activities, and group discussions. Findings from pre- and post-surveys and qualitative feedback indicated improved knowledge, confidence, and readiness for community reintegration, supporting the value of rehabilitative, occupation-based programming.

Vision loss can significantly limit participation in meaningful leisure activities, impacting overall quality of life. This capstone project explores strategies to support and maintain leisure participation in adults with vision loss by identifying common barriers and developing practical and accessible activities. A needs assessment revealed challenges including decreased accessibility, reduced confidence, and limited awareness of adaptive resources. In response, intervention strategies were developed focusing on activity modification, assistive technology, environmental adaptations, and client education. Findings emphasize the important role of occupational therapy in promoting continued engagement in leisure occupations and enhancing well-being for individuals with vision impairment.

Elementary school students with physical and developmental disabilities often experience barriers to meaningful participation across school environments. This capstone project aimed to address these barriers by equipping teachers and paraprofessionals with practical occupational therapy-informed strategies to best support student engagement, inclusion, and independence in school activities. The program included delivering a professional development presentation and an educational guidebook highlighting key concepts such as task analysis, activity modification, multisensory learning, and environmental adaptations. Upper extremity (UE) pain affects approximately 30.7% of adults in the United States and is associated with decreased function and participation. Despite evidence supporting non-pharmacological approaches, pharmacological interventions remain commonly used. This capstone project implemented and evaluated an occupation-based educational program to promote non-pharmacological pain management among adults receiving outpatient occupational therapy for UE conditions. This 14-week project included 10 participants and utilized a mixed-methods design with pre-, mid-, and post-surveys. The program consisted of an introduction and three modules addressing therapeutic movement, physical agent modalities, and sensory regulation. This study examined the effects of positional isometric contractions used as a pre-exercise warm-up on upper-body strength in adolescent male athletes. Twenty participants were randomly assigned to either a positional isometric group or a positional stretching group. Peak isometric force was measured using the VALD Force Decks System across three consecutive testing sessions. Data were analyzed using a three-week by two-group mixed design analysis of variance. The results showed no statistically significant differences between warm-up methods or across testing sessions. However, the positional isometric group demonstrated slightly higher initial force values that leveled out with repeated testing. These findings suggest …

This project studies polynomial observables that are compatible with a lifted linear system and define invariant graphs of the form p = p(x). Such observables arise naturally in the context of Koopman theory and super-linearization, where one seeks finite-dimensional linear representations of nonlinear dynamics.

Starting from the invariance identity, we derive algebraic conditions that constrain the structure of admissible polynomials. In the two-dimensional case, a complete analysis shows that all nonlinear terms are forced to depend on a single direction determined by the control vector B. Tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) are played by a large population and involve the engagement of social and emotional skills, with the largest portion of the population playing them being adolescents or young adults. The therapeutic application of TTRPGs in the treatment of depressive and anxious symptoms shows potential with this population. In a literature review, three major themes are identified: TTRPG culture, stakeholder perspectives of TTRPGs, and examples of therapeutically-applied TTRPGs. Overall, evidence suggests that TTRPGs can positively impact the concerned symptoms, though more research is needed for games outside of Dungeons & Dragons as well as stakeholder perspectives.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and related dementias are rapidly increasing public health concerns due to aging populations and rising life expectancy. Alzheimer’s disease is characterized by progressive neurodegeneration associated with amyloid-β plaques, tau neurofibrillary tangles, neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, and neuronal loss, leading to impairments in memory, cognition, and daily functioning. Because there is currently no cure for Alzheimer’s disease, identifying effective non-pharmacological prevention strategies is essential. Trauma is a common experience among justice-involved youth, though its developmental and behavioral impacts are not always fully accounted for within juvenile justice systems. Trauma-informed care has emerged as a promising framework for addressing these challenges, however, limited research has examined how consistently such approaches are implemented in practice. This study explores the implementation and perceived effectiveness of trauma-informed care within the juvenile justice system by drawing on semi-structured interviews with five clinicians who have professional experience working with justice-involved youth in the Midwest.
