Picky eating and problem behavior during meals are commonly reported issues among young children, particularly toddlers (Manikam & Perman, 2000). It is estimated that up to 50% of children under the age of 5 experience difficulties during mealtimes (Benjasuwantep et al., 2013). These difficulties may include tantrums when nonpreferred foods are presented, turning their head away from bites, pushing food away, crying, spitting out bites of nonpreferred food, and holding bites in the mouth. Over time, these behaviors can lead to significant limitations in the variety and amount of foods that children consume, thus compromising their growth and development. While …

The teaching interaction procedure (TIP) is a strategy that has been demonstrated as effective in promoting social skill acquisition in school settings for young students with social communication deficits (Leaf et al., 2009; Leaf et al., 2010). However, a frequently cited criticism of social skills training is the lack of generalizability of target skills to novel contexts (Bellini et al., 2007). We analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and associated policy responses on the global economy and food security in 80 low- and middle-income countries. We use a global economy-wide model with detailed disaggregation of agricultural and food sectors and develop a business-as-usual baseline for 2020 and 2021 called “But-for-COVID” (BfC). We then shock the model with aggregate income shocks derived from the IMF World Economic Outlook for 2020 and 2021. We impose total-factor productivity losses in key sectors as well as consumption decreases induced by social distancing. The resulting shocks in prices and incomes from the CGE model simulations …

Post myocardial infarct polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia (VT) triggered by injured Purkinje fibres can cause VT storms that are refractory to various treatment even after successful reperfusion or revascularization. We reported such recurrent polymorphic VT in two post myocardial infarct patients after Percutaneous Coronary Intervention. Both of them responded readily to Quinidine. We also discussed the pathophysiology of this arrhythmia and the treatment option of it, namely catheter ablation and antiarrhythmics

We report rare case of an octogenarian who, after years of diagnostic delay, was found to have a patent foramen ovale, and due to an ascending aortic aneurysm that anatomically facilitated right-to-left shunt, presenting with life-threatening cyanotic attacks. The characteristic orthodeoxia-platypnea syndrome and high alveolar arterial gradient hint to the diagnosis. She was eventually treated successfully with urgent percutaneous PFO closure. Routine ordering of a transthoracic echocardiogram, without agitated saline injection under provocation maneuvers, may not be sufficient to rule out shunts.

Channelopathies are the leading causes of SCD in patients without structural heart disease. Missing the diagnosis of high-risk but concealed channelopathies could have lethal clinical consequences. However, the diagnosis of channelopathies is often challenging due to the dynamic clinical presentations and elusive ECG manifestations of these diseases. An integrated approach including clinical assessment, repeated electrocardiography, drug provocation tests, exercise stress test and genetic studies is often required for establishing the diagnosis. Pharmacological provocation tests may have limited sensitivity and may be associated with false positive results. Introduction : A pilot cluster-based 24-hour PPCI service in a phased expansion program was launched in October 2018. This study aimed to compare the 30-day mortality and major bleeding event in acute STEMI patients presenting outside office hours who received historical thrombolytic therapy and PPCI under the newly implemented 24-hour service model. Methods and results : A single center retrospective study was conducted on consecutive STEMI patients presenting outside office hours, who received urgent thrombolytic therapy or PPCI between 2016-2019. Background: Coronary artery disease is common in patients with renal insufficiency. In acute coronary syndrome, impaired renal function is present in approximately 30-40% of patients and is associated with worse prognosis. Local data regarding the risks and benefits for those patients suffering from acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) is scarce. A peculiar intraspecific agonistic behavior involving a non-aggressive physical combat is reported between the adult males of Srilankametrus yaleensis (Kovařík et al., 2019) (Scorpionidae: Heterometrinae). The adult males were observed to resort to a ritualized and relatively gentle way for strength demonstration. The combat is characterized by lateral spreading of pedipalps, chelicerae-to-chelicerae collision, and entanglement of metasomal segments. This behavior is hereby considered a form of an intrasexual combat defined as the “arm-span competition”. It is hypothesized to be beneficial for solving territorial and/ or sexual competitions while avoiding unnecessary mortality which could pose adverse impact to the natural populations. …

Purpose: The purpose of this qualitative study was to identify and describe how California Community College senior-level leaders of color are culturally responsive in their leadership strategies, based on Horsford, Grosland, and Gunn’s (2011) culturally relevant leadership framework.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Seizures are a hyperexcitable, and hypersynchronous imbalance between excitatory and inhibitory factors (E/I imbalance) in neurotransmission, and epilepsy is the recurrent manifestation of seizures within a reasonable time frame and without being attributable to a reversible cause. Brivaracetam is a derivative of the antiepileptic agent, levetiracetam, that is used as adjuvant therapy for focal onset seizures. It was approved by the FDA in 2016 and has shown promising results with minimal adverse effect reactions in clinical trials.

A photovoltaic generator connected to a large network and supplying a nonlinear load (source of harmonics) injects distorted current into the grid. This manuscript presents an invariant-ellipsoid set design of a robust controlled active power filter to inject current into the large grid with minimum total harmonic distortion (THD). The nonlinear load current is considered an external disturbance to minimize its effect on the injected grid current.
