The prediction system provides shared digital ledger using federated blockchain i.e., by using shared digital ledger, participants can see history and transfer of assets and identify fraudulent transactions easily. Device certificates enable machine-to-machine (M2M) communication. Device certificates can have long lives, e.g., as long as thirty years. The long life of a device certificate can leave a device open to security breaches, e.g., when a future, sophisticated attack makes the device itself vulnerable, rooted, or otherwise insecure. This disclosure describes techniques that enable devices with long-lived certificates to enjoy secure M2M communication for purposes such as digital unlocking of and access to high-value assets, through the use of additional (parallel), short-lived device certificates. This paper explores the perceptions of a group of female Saudi Arabian university students, during the Covid-19 pandemic, regarding emergency on-line learning (EOL). The study utilized a mixed methods approach comprising two surveys. The first, examining the mechanics and structure of the shift. The second, a qualitative design eliciting the students’ responses to EOL. While the students initially enjoyed the experience, as time progressed a sense of dissatisfaction developed which became worse the longer the lockdowns lasted. The results assist policy makers, social workers, and student advisors to prepare for future crises that may result in another prolonged lockdown.

In a continuous-time setting, we study the design of a dynamic contract between a government and a private entity, wherein the latter commits to pay the government in return for the exclusive right to sell a service by operating a public facility. Private revenues are modelled as depending on the unobservable ability to seize market opportunities and on imperfectly correlated changes in consumers’ preferences. We show that optimal regulation requires an appropriate combination of fixed and variable payments to the government, acting together both as an information revelation mechanism and as a risk sharing device.

3d-5d perovskite oxides, ABO₃ (where A and B are 3d or 5d elements), form polar surfaces in the (001)- stacked thin films. As a result, the polar-polar (001) interface between two ABO₃ insulators could create polar discontinuity potentially producing a two-dimensional electron gas of higher density and stronger spatial localization compared to the widely studied polar-nonpolar oxide interfaces, such as (001) LaAlO₃/SrTiO₃. Here, as a model system, we explore the interface between polar (001) TbScO₃ and polar (001) KTaO₃ using first-principles density functional theory.We find that the …

Precision livestock farming (PLF) technologies have been widely promoted as important tools to improve the sustainability of dairy systems due to perceived economic, social, and environmental benefits. PURPOSE: Increasingly, mechanisms of learning are being considered during aphasia rehabilitation. Well-characterized learning mechanisms can inform "how" interventions should be administered to maximize the acquisition and retention of treatment gains. This systematic scoping review mapped hypothesized mechanisms of action (MoAs) and treatment ingredients in three learning-based approaches targeting naming in aphasia: errorless learning (ELess), errorful learning (EFul), and retrieval practice (RP). The rehabilitation treatment specification system was leveraged to describe available literature and identify knowledge gaps within a unified framework.

Metastatic prostate cancer (PCa) inevitably acquires resistance to standard therapy preceding lethality. Here, we unveil a chromosomal instability (CIN) tolerance mechanism as a therapeutic vulnerability of therapy-refractory lethal PCa. Through genomic and transcriptomic analysis of patient datasets, we find that castration and chemotherapy-resistant tumors display the highest CIN and mitotic kinase levels. Functional genomics screening coupled with quantitative phosphoproteomics identify MASTL kinase as a survival vulnerability specific of chemotherapy-resistant PCa cells. Mechanistically, MASTL upregulation is driven by transcriptional rewiring mechanisms involving the non-canonical transcription factors androgen receptor splice variant 7 and E2F7 in a circuitry that restrains deleterious CIN and …

Introduction: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) produce a broad spectrum of immune-related adverse events (irAEs) affecting various organ systems. While ICIs are established as a therapeutic option in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treatment, most patients receiving ICI relapse. Additionally, the role of ICIs on survival in patients receiving prior targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy has not been well-defined.

Objective: To investigate the impact of irAEs, the relative time of occurrence, and prior TKI therapy to predict clinical outcomes in NSCLC patients treated with ICIs.

According to the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act of 1974 (CAPTA), under federal law, children are required to have representation from a guardian ad litem in abuse and neglect proceedings. Many jurisdictions are proponents of the “Best Interest Model,” where the attorneys are appointed to determine and serve the best interest of the child, regardless of the individual child’s wishes. Other jurisdictions take the more traditional approach under the “Client-Directed Model,” where the attorney advocates for the child’s expressed wishes but also must take “into account diminished capacity such as age” of their client.

The increasing number and high prices of orphan drugs have triggered concern among patients, payers, and policymakers about the affordability of new drugs approved using the incentives set by the Orphan Drug Act (ODA) of 1983. This study evaluated the factors associated to the differences in the treatment cost of new orphan and non-orphan drugs approved by the FDA from 2017 to 2021. A generalized linear model (GLM) with the Gamma log-link analysis was used to ascertain the association of drug characteristics with the treatment costs of orphan and non-orphan drugs.
