This article re-examines the authenticity of Sayf Bin Omar's account of the ridda among Tamīm, his own tribe. Sayf implies that the main body of Tamīm remained faithful to Madina at the advent of Muhammad's death. However, modern scholars have discredited Sayf's account on the grounds that 1) the Hadīth's critics considered him unreliable; hence rejecting his transmissions altogether. 2) All other Arab historians disagree with him on this matter. This research is based on the recent Hebrew translations of the Holy Quran: Al-Adawi and Al-Basul’s translations. In this research, I critically analyze these two translations in light of three phenomena of the Arabic rhetorics; specifically, antonymy, synonymy, and polysemy. Based on this research, I conclude that both translators did not consider the above mentioned phenomena for various reasons. PURPOSE: Retinoblastoma (RB) is most often diagnosed with clinical features and not diagnosed with tumor biopsy. This study describes tumor-derived analyte concentrations from aqueous humor (AH) liquid biopsy and its use in clinical assays.

DESIGN: Case series study.

PARTICIPANTS: Sixty-two RB eyes from 55 children and 14 control eyes from 12 children from 4 medical centers.

METHODS: This study included 128 RB AH samples including: diagnostic (DX) samples, samples from eyes undergoing treatment (TX), samples after completing treatment (END), and during bevacizumab injection for radiation therapy after completing RB treatment (BEV). An Egyptian gas-producing plant located in the north of Egypt on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea near Port Said city is designed mainly to receive and treat natural gas produced from offshore wells. The plant designed capacity is around 2800 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD), which gives it a highly appreciated strategic importance. The primary plant process is removing H2S associated with the produced gas using amine solutions. The plant contains seven units called gas trains, which use packed columns for the removal. The mitochondrial genome of Liriodendron tulipifera exhibits many ancestral angiosperm features and a remarkably slow evolutionary rate, while mitochondrial genomes of other magnoliids remain yet to be characterized. We assembled nine new mitochondrial genomes, representing all genera of perianth-bearing Piperales, as well as for a member of the sister clade: three complete or nearly complete mitochondrial genomes from Aristolochiaceae and six additional draft assemblies including Thottea, Asaraceae, Lactoridaceae, and Hydnoraceae. For comparative purpose, a complete mitochondrial genome was assembled for Saururus, a member of the perianth-less Piperales. The average number of short repeats (50–99 bp) was much larger …

THOUGH each generation of theologians has its own questions and priorities, the work of previous generations may still provide insights into new questions. Stanley Samartha’s theological reflections were mainly aimed at overcoming Christian exceptionalism and establishing a basis for constructive dialogue. However, in the process, he also attempted to develop a new way of understanding the particularity of Christianity, which resonates with my own interest in recovering and reinterpreting the notion of religious distinctiveness in response to the current tendency to focus on religious universals and blur religious boundaries.

Ecstasy And Anguish: The Mystical Encounters Of Ramakrishna And Therese Of Lisieux, Andrea Bischoff

MYSTICAL experiences have been reported by both Hindu and Catholic religious figures. Hindu saint Ramakrishna and Catholic saint Thérèse of Lisieux are two such figures whose lives were dominated by direct, intimate encounters with the divine. Their encounters with Jesus, Mary, and Kālī frequently vacillated between states of ecstasy and anguish. Yet, while modern sensibilities may highlight the psychopathology of these emotional states, it is clear that these experiences had profound advantages for each saint’s spiritual life. Ultimately, interpreting these intimate encounters through the spiritual lives and traditions of the saints themselves can help Hindu and Christian scholars expand their …
