Ticketmaster And Live Nation Know Antitrust Laws All Too Well, Olivia Nacionales
Cardozo Arts & Entertainment Law Journal (AELJ) Blog
Almost anyone who has been to a concert, sports match, or any type of live event in recent years has likely had to deal with Ticketmaster, which commands a large majority of the ticketing industry. In November 2022, Ticketmaster faced public scrutiny after its website crashed during the pre-sale for Taylor Swift’s Eras tour. Frustrated fans logged off empty handed after hours of waiting and enduring the website’s glitches and eventual crash. Fans that did secure tickets were required to pay various fees, which Ticketmaster notoriously uses to drive up prices and “extract more money from consumers.” The Chairman of …
Metabolic Network Modeling To Unravel The Impact Of Copper Deficiency And High-Fat Diet On Liver Metabolism, Naeun Lee
Department of Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering: Dissertations, Theses, and Student Research
Fatty liver disease is a common health problem caused by an imbalance in the intake, utilization, and distribution of energy. High-fat and high-carbohydrate diets have been identified as major risk factors for fatty liver disease. Other contributors and modifiers can also influence the development of liver damage. Intriguingly, inappropriate copper (Cu) levels in the diet and organs are associated with fatty liver disease, though the exact way in which Cu deficiency or toxicity contributes to metabolic issues is not yet clear. Cu is necessary for several biological processes, including energy production and redox balance. Further research should be taken to …

Addiction affects everyone and the stigma around addiction and its’ recovery makes it exponentially harder for individuals to heal. Today, adolescents are exposed to drugs, alcohol, and related substances from younger ages than ever before and the age of first consumption of these substances is continually decreasing. Further, social media makes it easier than ever for these young people to see substance-related content. Most teens and young adults today check their social media daily—if not hourly. Due to the young age of first exposure to substances coupled with the near-constant exposure that social media provides, addiction is an ever-present problem …

Conflict Of Laws? Tensions Between Antitrust And Labor Law, Matthew Dimick
Conflict Of Laws? Tensions Between Antitrust And Labor Law, Matthew Dimick
Journal Articles
Not long ago, economists denied the existence of monopsony in labor markets. Today, scholars are talking about using antitrust law to counter employer wage-setting power. While concerns about inequality, stagnant wages, and excessive firm power are certainly to be welcomed, this sudden about-face in theory, evidence, and policy runs the risk of overlooking some important concerns. The purpose of this Essay is to address these concerns and, more critically, to discuss some tensions between antitrust and labor law, a more traditional method for regulating labor markets. Part I addresses a question raised in the very recent literature, about why antitrust …

Introduction: Cover crop (CC) is an essential tool to improve or maintain soil health, potentially improving cash crop productivity. Several recent reports of cash crop yield reduction following cover cropping necessitated this research to guide efficient CC decisions in the season before corn (Zea mays) or soybean (Glycine max) is to be grown.
Methods: Therefore, we designed this multi-year, multi-location study to include the farmers who plant CC following the harvest of a small grain crop, majorly wheat (Triticum aestivum) or oats (Avena sativa), and then grow corn or soybean cash crop in the subsequent season. We also selected the …

Pakistan's Economy Under Musharraf, Ishrat Husain Dr.
Faculty Research - Newspaper and Magazine Articles
Economichievements in most difficult circumstances during President Musharraf‘s regime are dismissed outright, because of abhorrence of the military rule, imposition of the emergency in 2007, his decision to join the US in Afghanistan war, open tussle with the judiciary, withdrawal of corruption cases against the politicians, and his quest to get elected in uniform. This article is an attempt to provide a first-hand data-driven account of the economic record of the period 2000-2008. Pakistan suffered serious setbacks in the 1990s in terms of most economic and social indicators. Economic growth rates decelerated, inflation rose to peak rates, debt burden escalated …
