Michigan COVID-19 Vaccine Data

The COVID Vaccine Dashboard page was obtained from Michigan's main COVID-19 page: https://www.michigan.gov/coronavirus/resources/covid-19-vaccine/covid-19-dashboard.

First-dose tracker above is for entire Michigan Population. Coverage maps below are for age 5+.

Previously reported numbers of administered vaccine doses may change as new data are received. A possible lag in reporting vaccine doses will result in increases in numbers previously reported.

This report is created by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Division of Immunization from data reported to the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR).

Faculty Research 2023

The gut microbiome is thought to play a critical role in the onset and development of psychiatric disorders, including depression and substance use disorder (SUD). To test the hypothesis that the microbiome affects addiction predisposing behaviors and cocaine intravenous self-administration (IVSA) and to identify specific microbes involved in the relationship, we performed 16S rRNA gene sequencing on feces from 228 diversity outbred mice. Twelve open field measures, two light-dark assay measures, one hole board and novelty place preference measure significantly differed between mice that acquired cocaine IVSA (ACQ) and those that failed to acquire IVSA (FACQ). We found that ACQ …

Center for Plant Science Innovation: Faculty Publications

E3 ubiquitin ligases play important roles in plant immunity, but their role in soybean has not been investigated previously. Here, we used Bean pod mottle virus (BPMV)-mediated virusinduced gene silencing (VIGS) to investigate the function of GmSAUL1 (Senescence-Associated E3 Ubiquitin Ligase 1) homologs in soybean. When two closely related SAUL1 homologs were silenced simultaneously, the soybean plants displayed autoimmune phenotypes, which were significantly alleviated by high temperature, suggesting that GmSAUL1a/1b might be guarded by an R protein. Interestingly, silencing GmSAUL1a/1b resulted in the decreased activation of GmMPK6, but increased activation of GmMPK3 in response to flg22, …

Connecting Higher Education To Workplace Activities And Earnings, Hung Chau, Sarah H. Bana, Baptiste Bouvier, Morgan R. Frank

Economics Faculty Articles and Research

Higher education is a source of skill acquisition for many middle- and high-skilled jobs. But what specific skills do universities impart on students to prepare them for desirable careers? In this study, we analyze a large novel corpora of over one million syllabi from over eight hundred bachelors’ granting US educational institutions to connect material taught in higher education to the detailed work activities in the US economy as reported by the US Department of Labor. First, we show how differences in taught skills both within and between college majors correspond to earnings differences of recent graduates. Further, we use …

Updated Constraints From The Effective Field Theory Analysis Of The Boss Power Spectrum On Early Dark Energy, T. Simon, P. Zhang, V. Poulin, Tristan L. Smith

Physics & Astronomy Faculty Works

Analyses of the full shape of the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS) DR12 power spectrum using the one-loop prediction from the effective field theory of large-scale structures (EFTBOSS) have led to new constraints on extensions to the Λ cold dark matter model, such as early dark energy (EDE), which has been suggested as a resolution to the “Hubble tension.” In this paper, we reassess the constraining power of the EFTBOSS on EDE in light of a correction to the normalization of BOSS window functions. Overall we find that constraints from EFTBOSS on EDE are weakened and represent a small change …

Formal Conjugacy Growth In Graph Products I, Laura Ciobanu,, Susan Hermiller, Valentin Mercier Mar 2023

Formal Conjugacy Growth In Graph Products I, Laura Ciobanu,, Susan Hermiller, Valentin Mercier

Department of Mathematics: Faculty Publications

In this paper we give a recursive formula for the conjugacy growth series of a graph product in terms of the conjugacy growth and standard growth series of subgraph products. We also show that the conjugacy and standard growth rates in a graph product are equal provided that this property holds for each vertex group. All results are obtained for the standard generating set consisting of the union of generating sets of the vertex groups.

Real-Time Telepathology Is Substantially Equivalent To In-Person Intraoperative Frozen Section Diagnosis, Joseph M. Rohr, Kevin Ginnebaugh, J. Mark Tuthill, Jason Pimentel, Rodney Markin Mar 2023

Real-Time Telepathology Is Substantially Equivalent To In-Person Intraoperative Frozen Section Diagnosis, Joseph M. Rohr, Kevin Ginnebaugh, J. Mark Tuthill, Jason Pimentel, Rodney Markin

Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Articles

CONTEXT.—: Intraoperative diagnosis by frozen section is a mainstay of surgical pathology practice, providing immediate feedback to the surgical team. Despite good accuracy with modern methods, access to intraoperative surgical pathology with an appropriate turnaround time (TAT) has been a limiting factor for small or remote surgical centers, with negative impacts on cost and patient care. Telepathology offers immediate expert anatomic pathology consultation to sites without an in-house or subspecialized pathologist.

OBJECTIVE.—: To assess the utility of live telepathology in frozen section practice.

DESIGN.—: Frozen section diagnoses by telemicroscopy from 2 tertiary care centers with combined 3 satellite hospitals were …

Onboarding Advanced Practice Nurses To Pre-Anesthesia Care, Megan P. Abate Mar 2023

Onboarding Advanced Practice Nurses To Pre-Anesthesia Care, Megan P. Abate

Seton Hall University Dissertations and Theses (ETDs)

Onboarding advanced practice nurses to the pre-anesthesia clinic (OBPAC) is a complex process that involves the integration and familiarization of new employees with the workplace. It is considered essential for safe and efficient clinical practice and the achievement of organizational goals. Fostering independence and competency are the overall aims of the onboarding process. The preceptor ensures that new advanced practice nurses (APNs) receive the support and guidance needed when learning new skills (Simone et al., 2016). There is evidence to show that dedicating time to a well-organized onboarding plan, laying clear job expectations with precepting, and continuous mentoring increases precepting, …

What Would Surrey Say? The Long Reach Of Stanley S. Surrey, Reuven S. Avi-Yonah, Nir Fishbien Mar 2023

What Would Surrey Say? The Long Reach Of Stanley S. Surrey, Reuven S. Avi-Yonah, Nir Fishbien

Law & Economics Working Papers

This essay examines the extent of Surrey’s influence on developments in tax law after his death. It argues that his ideas clearly impacted the tax reform of 1986, but can even be seen in later enactments like the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 and contemporary developments in international taxation. This in turn enables us to get a clearer perspective on what Surrey aimed to achieve and what the goals of these later developments are.
