Immunohistochemistry For The Proliferation Markers Ki67 And Phh3 In Cell Block Material Of Basaloid Salivary Gland Neoplasms Is Predictive Of Malignancy, Robert Post, Zach Breslin, Yanki Yarman, Stacey Gargano
Department of Pathology, Anatomy, and Cell Biology Posters
Background: Basaloid salivary gland neoplasms (BSGNs) are notoriously difficult to classify in fine needle aspiration (FNA) specimens due to the morphologic overlap shown by the various benign and malignant entities in this category1,2,3. Adenoid cystic carcinoma (AdCC) represents a particular diagnostic challenge, as it typically shows low grade cytologic features despite its aggressive clinical behavior and need for more extensive surgery4. We examined whether the proliferation markers Ki67 and PHH3 could help predict malignancy in BSGNs, thus improving diagnostic accuracy and optimizing patient care.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: Studies have shown that the COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on individuals who interact with patients with SARS-CoV-2 but focused largely on clinicians in acute care settings. This qualitative descriptive study aimed to understand the experiences and well-being of essential workers across settings during the pandemic.
BACKGROUND: Multiple studies of the well-being of individuals who have cared for patients during the pandemic have included interviews of clinicians from acute care settings and revealed high levels of stress. However, other essential workers have not been included in most of those studies, yet they may also experience stress. …
The Mediating Influence Of Organizational Trust On The Relationship Between Transformational Leadership And Job Satisfaction In The Virtual Workplace, Angela Daniels
Dissertations
Research has shown how leadership influences job satisfaction and organizational trust in the virtual workplace. With an increasing number of organizations shifting to these work environments, it is essential to study the effect of leadership on virtual workers. Prior studies suggest that leadership behaviors significantly impact job satisfaction (Hacker et al., 2019), and leadership plays a crucial role in inspiring employees to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization in a virtual workplace (Miller, 2020). Specifically, transformational leadership behaviors that shape the mindset and actions of employees are significant (Abelha et al., 2018). This study proposed a mediation model …

The Impact Of Covid-19 Pandemic On What Teachers Want From A Principal To Be Successful: A Study On Teacher Perception, Erika Niles, Kristen Pelster
Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to determine if COVID-19 has shifted what teachers perceive they want from a principal. In addition, the researchers sought to find what post-COVID-19 teachers want from a principal for them to succeed. Success is defined as feeling supported emotionally, having the proper resources, and maintaining a desire to stay in the profession.
Researchers used a concurrent mixed-methods design to collect data. Because data were not collected before the pandemic, researchers used a retrospective design to gather pre-COVID-19 data. The survey instrument had nineteen pairs of Likert-based questions, aligned with 19 qualities that are historically …

The K-5 Teacher Experience Of Distance Instruction During School Closures Due To Covid-19, Rose Jenkins
The K-5 Teacher Experience Of Distance Instruction During School Closures Due To Covid-19, Rose Jenkins
Dissertations
The worldwide health emergency agency due to COVID-19 caused confinement of people and, with it, the closure of schools and the transfer of face-to-face instruction to distance instruction. With a lack of guidance from school crisis management plans, teachers had to adapt to new methodological approaches in confinement at a rapid pace. This study aims to gain knowledge of the experiences of K-5 teachers adopting online instruction during COVID-19 to assist in crisis planning.
A quantitative research design was used to collect and analyze data anonymously through an online survey of K-5 teachers. After statistical data analysis, there was a …

Awe And Positive Affect: The Role Of Self-Transcendence And Self-Focused Attention, Autumn Chall
Awe And Positive Affect: The Role Of Self-Transcendence And Self-Focused Attention, Autumn Chall
Theses and Dissertations
The present study discussed the mechanism behind awe’s ability to improve affect. Proposed mechanisms include a lowered level of self-focused attention and a heightened level of self-transcendence since awe experiences have been found to decrease self-interest and significance (Bai et al., 2017; T. Jiang & Sedikides, 2021). To examine self-focused attention and self-transcendence as potential mediators for the relationship between awe and positive affect, this study utilized therapeutic writing techniques. In a between-subjects design, participants were randomly assigned to write about either a personal experience of awe or a neutral experience. Following this, participants filled out questionnaires assessing affect, level …

Duty-Free Shopping: Comparing Tax-Free Travel Restrictions Of The Eu And The United States, Sarah Lerche
Cardozo International & Comparative Law Review (CICLR) Blog
If you have been to an airport, you have likely come across the heavily stocked, halogen lit, mini shopping malls just across from your departing gate. Affixed with the large “Duty-Free” logo, these tempting variety stores lure travelers in with their notorious “tax-free" goods, that “typically offer a distinct assortment of luxury goods-like alcohol, jewelry, and beauty products-to outbound international travelers.” But the question looms, whether these duty-free shops are actually saving customers money, and how countries restrict such purchases throughout international travel. This piece will explore those two questions by comparing the European Union (EU) and the United States …

Little is known about brain aging or dementia in nonindustrialized environments that are similar to how humans lived throughout evolutionary history. This paper examines brain volume (BV) in middle and old age among two indigenous South American populations, the Tsimane and Moseten, whose lifestyles and environments diverge from those in high-income nations. With a sample of 1,165 individuals aged 40 to 94, we analyze population differences in cross-sectional rates of decline in BV with age. We also assess the relationships of BV with energy biomarkers and arterial disease and compare them against findings in industrialized contexts. The analyses test three …
