BACKGROUND: Understanding the barriers and facilitators of implementation completion is critical to determining why some implementation efforts fail and some succeed. Such studies provide the foundation for developing further strategies to support implementation completion when scaling up evidence-based practices (EBPs) such as Motivational Interviewing.
METHOD: This mixed-methods study utilized the Exploration, Preparation, Implementation, and Sustainment framework in an iterative analytic design to compare adolescent HIV clinics that demonstrated either high or low implementation completion in the context of a hybrid Type III trial of tailored motivational interviewing. Ten clinics were assigned to one of three completion categories (high, medium, and …

The adsorption of organic aromatic molecules, namely aniline, onto graphene oxide is investigated using molecular simulations. The effect of the oxidation level of the graphene oxide sheet as well as the presence of two different halide salts, sodium chloride and sodium iodide, were examined. The aniline molecule in the more-reduced graphene oxide case, in the absence of added salt, showed a slightly greater affinity for the graphene oxide-water interface as compared to the oxidized form. The presence of the iodide ion increased the affinity of the aniline molecule in the reduced case but had the opposite effect for the more-oxidized …

Comparison Of Some Methods For Estimating Nonparametric Binary Logistic Regression, Narjes Bassem Khalaf, Lekaa Ali Alalawy
Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences
In this research, the methods of Kernel estimator (nonparametric density estimator) were relied upon in estimating the two-response logistic regression, where the comparison was used between the method of Nadaraya-Watson and the method of Local Scoring algorithm, and optimal Smoothing parameter λ was estimated by the methods of Cross-validation and generalized Cross-validation, bandwidth optimal λ has a clear effect in the estimation process. It also has a key role in smoothing the curve as it approaches the real curve, and the goal of using the Kernel estimator is to modify the observations so that we can obtain estimators with characteristics …

Exploring Scalability Of Multimodal User Interface Design In Virtual And Augmented Reality, Sarah M. Garcia
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Use of Extended Reality (XR) technology such as Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) has experienced significant growth, with continuous advances in mobile technology and head-mounted display (HMD) headset development. As applications that span more than one type of reality have started to emerge, there is a need for additional research regarding the user interfaces (UIs) developed for these multimodal systems. While some work exists towards the creation of UI design guidelines in AR and in VR, little to no work has been done in providing recommendations for designing interfaces that work successfully across multiple XR modalities. To explore …

Methadone Patients In Vietnam: Substance Use Patterns, Reasons For Entering Treatment, And Methadone-Related Attitudes, Tram Hoang Huyen Tran
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Objectives. Vietnam has high rates of opioid addiction, but methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) only became available in Vietnam in 2008. To date, MMT has expanded nationwide serving about 51,000 patients. As MMT is relatively new in Vietnam, additional research on methadone patients is still needed. This dissertation aims to address two important issues related to MMT that have been understudied: the extent/type of substance use (SU) among MMT patients in Vietnam; and the low utilization of MMT among women.
Methods. This dissertation contains three separate, but related studies. Study 1 systematically reviewed 20 studies and summarized the literature on the …

1960s Colombia: Cold War & Culture, Dave Corcoran, Latin American And Iberian Institute
LAII Events
In Colombia, as across the Americas, the 1960s was a decade of change. As the global Cold War was then intensifying, regional groups with revolutionary objectives (FARC, ELN, EPL) took inspiration from abroad and mounted new challenges to the Colombian state. Much of the armed conflict of the decade played out in rural areas with all sides appealing for campesino support, but urban centers became a different type of battleground. There, educational and cultural programming targeted the urban middle class to counteract support for revolution, and in the climate of the Cold War, international influences were strong. This talk examines …

Evolution Of Eddy Viscosity In The Wake Of A Wind Turbine, Luis Martínez-Tossas, Juliaan Bossuyt, Nicholas Hamilton, Raul Bayoan Cal
Mechanical and Materials Engineering Faculty Publications and Presentations
The eddy viscosity hypothesis is a popular method in wind turbine wake modeling for estimating turbulent Reynolds stresses. We document the downstream evolution of eddy viscosity in the wake of a wind turbine from experimental and large-eddy-simulation data.Wake eddy viscosity is isolated from its surroundings by subtracting the inflow profile, and the driving forces are identified in each wake region. Eddy viscosity varies in response to changes in turbine geometry and nacelle misalignment with larger turbines generating stronger velocity gradients and shear stresses. We propose a model for eddy viscosity based on a Rayleigh distribution. Model parameters are obtained from …

Georgetown Law Faculty Publications and Other Works
This article will look at the recent Hachette decision against the Internet Archive, analyzing how the court’s reliance on past authorities with insufficient context distorted their meanings. It will focus only on the controlled digital lending (CDL) aspect, not discussing the other claims in the suit or exploring the specific implementation of CDL by the Internet Archive (IA). Since CDL programs can vary widely, IA is better situated than others to identify missing context related to the analysis of the unique components of their efforts. And other libraries engaging in CDL should be able to easily see where their programs …
