Blood Pressure Management In Ischemic Stroke Patients Undergoing Mechanical Thrombectomy, Michael De Georgia, Theodore Bowen, K. Rose Duncan, Alex B. Chebl

The relationship between presenting blood pressure in acute ischemic stroke patients and outcome is complex. Several studies have demonstrated a U-shaped curve with worse outcomes when blood pressure is high or low. The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association guidelines recommend values of blood pressure < 185/110 mmHg in patients treated with intravenous t-PA and "permissive hypertension" up to 220/120 mmHg in those not treated with intravenous t-PA. The optimal blood pressure target is less clear in patients undergoing mechanical thrombectomy. Before thrombectomy, the guidelines recommend a blood pressure < 185/110 mmHg though patients with even lower systolic blood pressures may have better outcomes. During and after thrombectomy, the guidelines recommend a blood pressure < 180/105 mmHg. However, several studies have suggested that during thrombectomy the primary goal should be to prevent significant low blood pressure (e.g., target systolic blood pressure > 140 mmHg or MAP > 70 mmHg). After thrombectomy, the primary goal should be to prevent high blood pressure (e.g., target systolic blood pressure < 160 mmHg or MAP < 90 mmHg). To make more specific recommendations, large, randomized-control studies are needed that address factors such as the baseline blood pressure, timing and degree of revascularization, status of collaterals, and estimated risk of reperfusion injury.

Oxycodone is the most abused prescription opioid and a common cause of opioid use disorder and overdose. Despite the availability of different treatment options, opioid overdose rates have skyrocketed to a staggering 80,000 deaths in 2021. Vaccines against opioids have been proposed as a novel strategy for preventing overdose and several studies have established the feasibility of this approach. Here, we report our efforts to engineer a vaccine against oxycodone that elicits high-titer antibodies with protective functionality against oxycodone. We accomplish this using a bacteriophage Qβ virus-like particle (VLP) platform to display oxycodone in a highly immunogenic and multivalent format. …

One of the main problems that have impacted the state of healthcare in West Virginia has been the rising costs of treatments for bloodborne infections (Bates et al., 2019). Bloodborne pathogens and their resulting diseases have commonly spread by exchanging contaminated needles (Denault & Gardner, 2021). In West Virginia, Needle Exchange Programs (NEPs) have been implemented to reduce the transmission of certain infections, such as HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C, which have been more common among drug users (Beck & Kersey, 2018). Familialism in contemporary Turkey has primarily been analysed as a crucial aspect of the social policy of the Justice and Development Party (Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi – AKP) government. The incorporation of familialism into other policy areas has also received some attention. Less attention has been given, however, to the ‘civil’ channels through which this state-level familialism is supported and propagated. A network of family-oriented conservative NGOs has proliferated in the last decade, and this article looks at the campaigns they organize and the discourses they use to influence and foster familialism at the state level. This dissertation explored the challenging nature school climate holds within the realms of organizational and building effectiveness among building leaders, staff, and students. Difficulties associated with organizational climate were identified. There are numerous factors that contributed to shaping school climate and school climate is also highly dependent on perceptions (McGregor, 1960). Through an interdisciplinary focus between targeted motivational efforts and administrative leadership styles, this study aimed to discover a new understanding of central climate and leadership factors which might lend to a more positive environment. It is of utmost importance to keep track of the soil organic carbon (SOC) level in forests due to how it affects atmospheric CO2 concentrations and how it mitigates climate change. This study investigates the amount of soil organic carbon that we have gathered from two different forest types such as the Red Pine and Hemlock Sugar Maple Forest. The soil samples used from these two forest types were taken from the Huron Mountain located in Michigan. The Red Pine forest is a plantation forest while the Hemlock Sugar Maple forest is natural. Reactors film their supposed first-time reaction to various online videos including trailers, film, television etc. Reactors represent a new performance mode at the intersection of audience member and performer attempting to recreate a lost sense of community in an increasingly digitally mediated world.
